Killer feels too hard

I just played a few matches as Killer and in each one Survivors did gens way too fast and showed 0 respect for me

I can't keep up with them and they always seem to have the upper hand. Why? Are Gens too fast? Is Survivor side too easy?

Devs, can you please help Killer be more enjoyable and fair? Maybe something that stops Gens being done too fast would be good.

As an Asperger's guy, i tend to take the strong disrespect kinda personally and it makes me sad and feel like a joke. Does anyone else feel this way?

I recommend you close the chat or turn messages off. Survivors will always send you hate mail whether you win or lose.

As for the gens, yes they can go stupid fast. Thats why the only real way to pressure them is getting survivors on hooks and injured.

What killer and perks are you running?

    Which killers were being used?

Nurse = Couldn't keep up, even when blinking, they gen rushed

Hillbilly = Got two which is fine, but the others found a key

Oni = 1 dc-ed at the start, but i was countered by a broken window loop and pallet loops

Legion = got a 4k, but it was at the very end because a survivor kept looping me with a light and somehow knew where i was going even if it was behind a wall

It doesn't get any better the higher rank you go I'm afraid. Yes gens can go too fast especially if they split up. A lot of my trials have not lasted more than 5 minutes since the event started.

Not sure what rank you are but the amount of toxicity I am getting in red ranks can be unbearable at times. I suffer from anxiety and depression, as well as a couple of other things, so sometimes it gets to me too.

Just ignore him. People are rude for no reason. Killer early on is gonna be pretty hard depending on who you choose to play. Once you've gotten more perks things will ease up. All of your games after that will be a mix of challenging games and easy games.

I'm not new to the game, been playing for years, the perks i use are always high level. I've been a decent killer up until now, it just seems like i don't have enough time for anything

Oh okay. Well I've got nothing I just bring ruin and pray they don't cleanse it at the start of the game before i can get my stacks on perks or before I get at least two hooks. After that land as many hatchets as I can

How much do you play those three first killers? they're on the stronger end of the tier list.

Killers have how many perks that slow down gen progression now? You should probably put in at least 100 hours of killer before coming to a conclusion like this with it. Also get a lot of their perks and try different combinations. I can tell you from my own experience that survivor side is not too easy and you never know what the killer is using every match. I'm a survivor main. I don't care for or play killer but on the rare occasion to get some easy rift fragments (chase survivor for this long, never the kill challenges) or just to have fun trying to spook survivors with insidious Nemesis I'll do it. With no perks (or just BP perks) and offerings, rank 20 and very little experience with killer I can keep survivors off gens for a very long time. When I go for bbq pips for some extra points it disgusts me how easy it is for me to get hooks. All I do is hold W towards generators and I always find them. It makes me wonder why some killers feel the need to try so hard when I can do it so easy and have no idea what I'm doing. Yea its probably a lot to do with the rank of the survivors but I sometimes get green, purple or even red ranks and I still can find and hook them. Its also probably because I have so much survivor experience that I know how they play in different situations. Even still, I always feel super bad playing killer and I literally have to go out of my way to let them know I'm not there to play sweaty or anything. Many survivors assume the killer is going to be super sweaty so they'll often try to get objectives done faster to avoid that possible experience.

so killer is a hard one to play. stay away from nurse until you get a better grasp of the killer.

hillbilly is in a kinda odd spot, he's balanced but not what he used to be. He can be fun and effective but has a bit of a skill ceiling to learn, dont feel bad for having some bad games.

Oni is VERY strong and rewarding with his power, id pick him over hill billy honestly, less frustrating.

legion isnt very strong but he is fun. easy to get into, but you gotta think outside the box to master.

all in all, this community is HARSH. dont take it personally from aggravating things from the survivors end, they do that to get you to chase them most of the time and keep in mind this game is a you vs them game, people will talk crap. just move on to the next game or take a breather with a different game if you feel aggravated then relish in your opponents tears when you 4k.

heres a ingame killer tip, if you feel like you cant catch a survivor, ditch em. find the weakest survivor and get them instead, it forces the strong ones to put themselves in a weaker position and off gens to help save. This is important to learn with Oni and just about every killer.

lastly, look up some tips on a killer to learn how to play them and when to use their abilities at what times.

If you need any more help, i can help ya!!

    happy hunting!!!

Understandably, you have some matches where you feel helpless due to various RNG reasons, but to say killer is hard? I don't agree with that.

Camping, tunneling, slugging, sweaty killers, toxic killers, "its part of the game bro" killers... etc.

I can feel your frustration, and to give you one thing: Killer is much more stressful, thats true.. but it is not really harder. In fact, playing solo survivor might actually be more difficult to succeed then playing (any) killer, at least in my opinion.

Also devs are buffing killer side way more then survivor, acutally survivors are getting nerved all the time since years, even tho the Killrate is already very high of the majority of the killer roster.

There is nothing you can really do against the disrespect other then learn and eventually master Nurse, Spirit or Hag. No survivor team, no matter how good they are would serioulsly bm a god tier nurse for example.

This has always been the case, and it would be fine if not for the fact that survivors can fall back on holding W and predropping pallets. And more holding W because deadzones are still strong AF in current DbD. Yay balance.

Killer is supposed to be harder than survivor, but with all the QoL nerfs (looking at you, completely broken sounds that stop any form of tracking) and the shift in meta to exactly what I mentioned above (something that's been a rising problem in AU since Oni and exploded at the beginning of the year to suddenly become 2/3 trials) has left killer in the absolute worst state it's ever been in simply because 4-minute trials and masses of verbal abuse (and cyberstalking, no crap my profile is private) mixed with absolute non-interaction and a general, frustrating inability to actually do anything beyond camp and slug.

Killer is supposed to be harder. The gap, it isn't supposed to be this large.

It's just the current meta, pump out gens as fast as possible while your teammate runs the killer to the other side of the map. The game is designed to give the advantage to the survivors. Remember, happy players spend more money and introduce their friends to the game. Just look at all the strong loops and L+T walls that are in the game. Not saying this as a complaint btw, it is what it is and the Killer role is just the harder role.

My advice to you when playing killer is to treat the survivors as they treat you. They love to bring in strong items and do whatever it takes to win, you should do the same. Run BBQ on every killer you can and farm as many bps so you can horde as many good add-ons as you can. Don't go in thinking that you will take it easy, because for the most part, your opponents wont. They will take advantage of your kindness and think they were just better than you. Even when you are better than them, they will denigrate you for using items and tactics, even though they don't care about your fun when they do the same to you.

As for the disrespect, ignore it, every killer player faces it. I've had survivors hope my mother dies from corona, that I commit suicide, and many other evil things, it means nothing. They're just spoiled little prepubescent children who haven't been raised or disciplined by loving parents and are starving for attention. It is why if Behaviour ever introduced comms, I will stop playing.

Play Spirit with something like Ruin, Undying and Stridor with Mother Daughter Ring and Yakuyoke Amulet.

Except that killers aren't allowed to play with broken toys, only survivors.

I play with Trapper with Padded Jaws and Trapper Sack and still get hate. Just a few matches ago, I switched to Bloody Coil and the Purple Bag addon because it was obvious that I was going to face a full SWF with two flashlights and two tool boxes, all PC players. I managed to get one in the shack basement and snowballed from there.

I felt bad, disarmed my traps and let the last survivor rescue everyone and regroup. I'm like, okay, lets try this again, and the Zarina basically starts crouching, which I assume is for mercy, so I just let them do gens. What do I get in the chat? "Zzzzzz, Boring". Apparently, I'm not allowed to use Bloody Coil, but they can use BNP and strong add-ons for their flashlight. They weren't happy when they realized I also had Lightborn.

I’m not impressed. Give me the executive summary. What rank? What killer did you play? Was it SWF or solo Q? Those are all important factors. Not just “learn from the best I’m a god” lmao

Killer can be frustrating tbh. You don't have teammates to support you. I would say don't worry about the 4k. As somebody who doesn't like the t-bagging I try to shrug it off and focus on having fun.

I like using Corrupt Intervention as it guarantees a match won't end in 3 minutes. You can pair it with Undying Ligjt/Thano/Sloppy Butcher for extra slowdown, but it comes down to pressuring gens properly.

I'm 65% killer main btw and green ranks. I enjoy where I'm at rn so learning the game and enjoying the nuances is important

In the developer update today they announced that there will be an offline practice mode with bots coming in the mid chapter update. This will allow all players, but more specifically newer players, the ability to practice real-world scenarios before hopping into an online match. Practicing mechanics that you're not used to against highly skilled players is not a good training tool, so this will go a long way towards easing players into online matches.
