Just a question out of curiosity.
Do you personally think DBD will ever be topped by another game or not?

One would hope, they can't be on top forever.

It's possible, but I think it would be extremely difficult because dbd has been around so long and also has so many well known characters in it.

This.
I feel like this is the reason why a lot of the games dont succeed even coming close in competing.
1 -
yeah no really good competitors

Not in its lifetime
After DBD's time is over (Whenever that is) possibly
DBD's a bit of a unique case because it's got cross-overs from Films, TV shows and Games all bundled into one package. Other games do 'cross-overs' and cameos usually in the form of cosmetics but usually not taking the characters from the actual source material and essentially adding them to the game's 'World' so to speak.
Smash Bros, Mortal Kombat and Tekken are in a similiar vein although they are fighting games

FT13 had a little chance.
But that game was horrid and its always Jason so its gonna get boring in a short time.

honestly dead realm was a fun little. that was a fun game with multiple game modes and actually came out before dbd.

This got me thinking.
If DBD isnt topped will it ever die as there is no other game like it?
0 -
Nope, I don't think so. The only one capable of defeating Dead by Daylight, is Dead by Daylight.

GIant games can and have died before but some still remain alive years after their time. Look at TF2, it's in a bit of a sorry state at the moment but supposedly it can still get like 100k people playing. That's not dead by any stretch
I could see BHVR at some point being like "Yeah, DBD has run its course - we're doing xyz" but officially they've said they're gonna keep supporting the game as long as they can. DBD's their hail mary so I don't expect it to go anywhere anytime soon.
I'm not even sure some giant drama would be enough to kill the game, It'd take a huge chain of events I think

Honestly the only game that had a shot at competing with DBD was Deathgarden, and that was by BHVR anyway.

I really hope so. DbD has a unique premise, but has many flaws holding it back.
I also worry that better games COULD come out, but that people wouldn't play them because of the licensing DbD has. On top of that, some people are kinda mindlessly devoted to this game, and have, in the past, made a point to poopoo on any competition that is even offered. That kind of fan zeal can kill better games in favor of the worse-but-popular one.
I play many other games, and even when I'm completely outclassed, I feel like I got a fair shake. DbD is one of the only games I play where I don't often feel that. Things are either stacked for or against me, fair shake be damned. I don't like that. If another game came along with a similar premise but felt more fair, I'd hop on that in a heartbeat.

I think you might be having bad luck. But yeah DBD has a loyal fanbase.

It needs to be. That doesn't mean it will be though.

If anything beats DBD, it will be something that BHVR does or doesn’t do. Its got a tight grip on the genre and having so many big names involved provides for a large span of a fan base.
