Might just be toxic

Games devs and mods just ignoring the players complaints about balancing issues for one thing or another is pretty frequent it seems. The biggest issues being things like toxicity in the forms of camping, tunneling, or slugging for killers and flashlight taunting most commonly for survivors. The bigger issue really being the killer side frankly. Certain players will say "those are all valid tactics" and it seems the devs even support them because really you get rewarded for it by securing at least a 2k every game with it. These things make players quit, why should survivors do anything other than gen rush when its the only counter to this. Why should killers not do it when if they don't they'll get gen rushed anyway and be lucky to get a 1k. And people say this isn't toxic but its not great when reviews on the game are "hate yourself? Play this you'll hate others more" "toxic community? check" "game fills me with sadness." So now it feels like the only way to have fun is to be one of the toxic ones, maybe I'll have to join that side in my playstyle too until there becomes something to really truly encourage killers to not use those strats and survivors to not gen rush. And don't say "this perk" or "some dont" because its all too common and it shouldnt just be forced to use certain perk(s) to prevent it

Players need to play both sides equally (for a least a small period of time) to understand where each side is coming from. When I first started playing I saw one too many YouTube vids and thought clicking my flashlight to get the killers attention away from teammates was necessary. Once I started playing killer, I realize it was actually quite the opposite because he sees everyone anyway, and that ######### is annoying. So I stopped lol. As killer I used to camp and tunnel thinking it was viable. When I was survivor and it happened to me a few times, I stopped that ######### immediately. No fun literally not getting a chance to play play the damn game. Tunneled out with 5K to my name.

Now this whole gen rushing thing is a different story. I don’t get that ######### at all. What else are survivors supposed to do? Jerk each other off in the corner? When it happens to me it’s because I have no gen defense and or I didn’t pressure gens enough. I don’t blame survivors. But I digress. My point is: walk a mile in each other’s shoes and that’ll cut down on the toxicity in our community.

I play both, I have probably over 1k hours in the game because I've played since launch. You're absolutely right, walk a mile in eachothers shoes. Thats why as it is now I don't do that stuff as killer. If 3 gens are done by the first hook I get because of gen rushing though then I camp, I want at least 1k for the sake of points and satisfaction of at least one kill. Usually I'll even wait until after the next chase to see how gen progress continues. But sometimes now its too late and if theyre a good swf I just don't get any kills because I didnt camp or tunnel.

You're part of those "certain players" I mentioned. Congrats, that opinion was already touched on and set aside because it is.

People trying to win are not toxic just because they do it in a way you don't enjoy.

I have yet to see a suggestion for a way to eliminate camping and tunneling that wouldn't be easily abused by survivors gaming the system and/or punish innocent killers not camping/tunneling but they get hit by whatever penalty anyway.

I'm all ears if anyone can suggest anything...
