Isn’t it time to remove the visual effect on sloppy?
All this effect does is make current gen consoles explode. As survivor we already get a notification of the perk and can see the status effect so it serves no gameplay function anyway
For the sake of current gen console users it needs to go

It’s time to remove ALL visual effects. Especially for mending

Yeah the fact that you can’t see sometimes is really annoying

I think it's not animation itself that is causing performance issues but rather the process of how status effects are applied on the survivor

Deep wound vfx with dream world or madness 3 is the real #########. Literally a black screen.

I think it's all connected to the use of shaders. Particles use shaders, the entire map uses shaders, the UI uses shaders. I seriously think one of the big issues is that DbD goes overboard on shader use, which are notorious for tearing up weaker GPUs. This would also explain why Freddys Dream World comes with a performance dip for weaker machines.

I have no idea what shaders is but it could very well be a combination of the two

"Beyond simple lighting models, more complex uses of shaders include: altering the hue, saturation, brightness (HSL/HSV) or contrast of an image; producing blur, light bloom, volumetric lighting, normal mapping (for depth effects), bokeh, cel shading, posterization, bump mapping, distortion, chroma keying (for so-called "bluescreen/greenscreen" effects), edge and motion detection, as well as psychedelic effects".
They are what create the lighting, ambiance, and special effects. Particles use shaders as well. DbD uses a LOT of shaders, which is why people can rip the assets, throw them in a home-made demo, and it doesn't look the same. Shaders can be rough on older or weaker hardware.

In general, it does not really make sense that it gets darker over time. Before it went darker when the timer went down, but now, even if the timer stays, it gets darker, resulting in not being able to see anything at some point.

Bhvr has a soft spot for screen clutter and darkness. Apparently, not being able to see ######### makes the game more immersive.
