Kill Switch update: The issue affecting Baermar Uraz's Ugly Sweater has been fixed and the cosmetic has been reenabled in all queues with this update.

How do you play Demo?

Topic. I have a ton of cakes I don't want to waste before prestiging him. I only do it because I am a completionist nutjob on DBD.

How do you play him?

If I try to place portals down. By the time I do it survivors are doing cartwheels and backflips out of the exit gate by the time I made use of them twice. I don't get their usefulness at all.

His undetectable status might as well not exist.

I feel like charging shred takes a bit longer than it should. I always miss it feels so easy for survivors to dodge me using it. It also needs some type of icon or way to tell for sure when you got it. I have so many times hit attack to early only to swing at the air and not do the lunge. Super annoying.

Portals are secondary to his chase power. Focus on chases and place portals when you have the time.

    I use portals as traps.

    • place one out of sight near gens being worked on.
    • Place an obvious one right next to a gen I’ve just chased survivors off of.
    • If I don’t get an easy down, I go to the portal I placed down next to the gen and teleport to the other one close by just out of sight.
    • Immediately use Of The Abyss to see if Killer Instinct is triggered near the gen I just teleported from because 9 times out of 10 survivors can’t resist rushing in as fast as possible to try and close the portal.
    • Creep up and profit with a free shred or free hit/down.

With a clever set up of portals not too far from each other, you can have quite a web of great tracking, and will be difficult for survivors to close many without you first knowing about it and reaching there in time to get hits out of their Oblivious status effect, which is far more effective than his Undetectable because the portal cleansing sounds muffle Demo’s steps, and the survivors will be more focused on the skillchecks.

Step 1: Run Black Heart and Barb's Glasses

Step 2: At every pallet hold out your shred and if they drop the pallet shred it but if they don't drop it then hit them with your shred

Step 3: Use your portals at hooks and generators I guess

I've seen people complain about Barbs Glasses. Using them for myself I was expecting it to be crazy fast. I barely notice a difference.

At this point portals are secondary. I'll put down one at the start of the match and that's it, only using them when it makes sense to. But chasing as Demo isn't hard, you're like a Huntress that can't hit over loops and can feather your ability at every pallet and get a bunch of free zoning. Not much to it, he's very simple: tap shred at every pallet, hold shred when a survivor's running towards a window or pallet and shred when they're locked in an animation.

You can use portals as tracking utility if you put them under hex totems. Channeling the abyss shows the killer instinct of survivors near/on the portals (they don't have to be cleansing the portal).

Shred is a POWERFUL chase tool. You can use it to zone. It's incredibly fast so you can charge it up for a while without worrying about the vault screwing you over. Just charge it up before a survivor vaults a window/drops a pallet and watch and learn. You have to channel the abyss early though.

Hiding your portals can be helpful at times, but the stomping sounds are definitely a hinderance because of how loud they are to the survivors. It's still useful to prevent them from knowing where the portals are though.

What i usually do is keep most portals to one side of the map, the side with a potential 3 gen or near the closest generator's. Then just let them complete the furthest gens on the other side, and pressure the side where your portals are. Run the addon that shows instinct when a survivor is near a portal and the addon that highlights gens while travelling the upside down. You can also put portals near your ruin with the instinct addon and the addon deer lung, and just keep one portal on you at all times. That's if you use ruin.

    i rarely place down portals.

shred is pretty high tier, you really can get that lucky hit when they try and get that vault and your a little farther away. it's crisp.

shredding is slow, but still gives you a good pallet break time (i think, idk how long it takes) doesnt feel that long.

so yeah, definitely use shred when you can, almost no downside really. but don't over use it.

other than that, just basic attack em.

Truth be told, I don't. I don't like the character nor the power, and if I am not mistaken I haven't played him since I got his adept back in 2019.

If I recall correctly, his chase power is way better and more important than his portals.

I don't bother setting up with him. I use Monitor and Abuse to sneak on survivors and end a chase fast with STBFL + Barb's Glasses. After hooking someone I usually place a portal on a strategic point between two/three gens.
