Nemesis Tentacle hitbox

What exactly is the hitbox on nemesis's tentacle? Whenever I use it, it seems like it should hit but doesn't.

Honestly I have no idea the hitbox either. It seems to be super inconsistent.

If you mean width its accurate to how its visual looks. If length, its around 5m which becomes 6m at Tier 3. If I am horribly wrong so far and you meant where it comes out of, it eminates from Nemesis himself, so its impossible to hide under him to avoid the hit.

I meant at which height it extends from Nemesis.I played him quite a lot the past few days and it just seemed to be really inconsistent in terms of what you can hit over and what not sometimes

Thats a tricky question, but its about eye-level at its highest, however it loses any effectiveness once its blocked by any terrain or obstacle. This means you can crouch to avoid it if youre behind anything as tall as a crouched survivor. However, unlike PH it goes over gaps and drops and can still hit.

I've been able to hit crouched survivors over objects 🤔 happened a few time in different games.

    It's weird...

It's kind of a much thinner PH punishment of the damned that doesn't go through walls (I seem to recall people saying it was coded this way). And it apparently needs a non-crouched survivor fully visible in order for it to connect. Crouching behind virtually any LOS blocker seems to stop it 99% of the time. Doesn't appear to be any verticality to it either

Also... for whatever reason, if you strafe side to side while using the tentacle, it appears to make the hitbox wider

Yeah I've noticed that myself. It's weird. But I think one thing we can all agree on, is that it shouldn't take three hits from the tentacle to down a survivor. The fact that the first hit grants them a speed boost like they were injured works too much in the survivor's favor.

The tentacle's width is way too small. You need perfect aim to hit it. I think it's smaller than Deathslinger's harpoon.

As for the actual hitbox, it's weird. Sometimes it'll hit and sometimes it won't. It can get screwed up by pretty much anything. Also, what is that blue streak the tentacle leaves supposed to mean? Is that supposed to mark where the tentacle hit or is that supposed to be the hitbox?

Keep in mind their is also a tech with nemesis where the hitbox lingers for a split second, meaning that he can strafe to one side to move the hitbox with him after performing a tentacle smack, visually it will look questionable since the visual effect doesn't move.

I was wondering more about the height of the hitbox rather then the width, cause survivors can crouch behind certain things and sometimes it works but it doesnt look like it should hit and sometimes it doesnt even though it looks like it should.

I just got hit by his tentacle 3 pallet lengths away through a pallet, so it's completely broken and bad.

Probably server lag differences. To the killer he was probably right on you.

Search Otz on YT - he has a video explaining the Nemesis hitbox.

I'm pretty sure it's a 5 Meter (6 if you're in Tier 3) long rectangle. If a Survivor is in that rectangle, they get hit. If they are behind an object and crouching, the Tentacle Strike will not hit them

    Over 500h Nemesis here:

The hitbox consist of 2 boxes. The first half from your character towards the first 1-2M and then there is a small cut and the second half starts until the end, the tip of it. The hit has also a "travel time" which means it will actually hit or damage a split second later then the moment you press the button which means you still have a moment to adjust your hit. Keep in mind that it works ONLY with the second half of the hitbox (the tip) not the closer part, its like Pyramid head, the close hitbox has a faster travel time than the further part.

It is actually possible to do the tentacle hit before the dead hard animation and STILL hit, even now with the dead hard validation. Its because of the small cut in the middle of the 2 hitboxes what I explained earlier. So if the survivor is exactly between those 2 hitboxes and you strafe WITH the dead hard direction, either the first or second half can hit them after the dead hard, dont ask me why that works, its just BHVR.

In the end, you dont have to worry about the split hitboxes, just keep in mind that the hit needs a split second until it actually hits.

Also you can ONLY whip over obstacles with the second half of the hitbox, which means you have to basicly stand right infront of the object and then it will hit over it. Also keep in mind that the whip also has a horizontal hitbox which means survivors CAN crouch behind obstacles to avoid a hit, for example behind a auto heaven car, so keep in mind about that.

    Extra tips:

The hitbox is VERY thinn, you can hit between very small gaps like on the autoheaven car, the car has some random stuff on its back right? Like a engine and other trash, you can actually whip between the gap of the engine and the backwindow of the truck. Nemesis is a try and error character, just get used to the delay of the hit and try and learn where you can whip through and where not.

There was no lag that was visible to anyone the entire round. Furthermore I know why you might think that, because most people just vault over a pallet and then they get hit, but that's not what happened here. I dropped the pallet then I ran around the enclosure on the outside of the middle for a bit, like maybe 6 seconds worth of dodging, now at no points did I move closer to the pallet, and then he swung and hit me through the pallet in the middle of the enclosure.

It's very inconsistent. You can clearly miss a survivor and it hits, but other times you can do an easily achievable hit such as with the drag tech and it still won't hit.
