Removing ability usage in basement?

Thoughts on this? cause the main offenders of horrendous basement camping are Hag and Bubba, largely due to both of them being able to use their powers in basement, making saving anyone extremely difficult.

Could also add Trapper, but his traps arent as strong for this like Hag, (referring to trapping the stairs and such)

Being hooked in basement is bad enough as it is, having a killer that can instantly teleport there making saves really slow to avoid it or a insta kill one just seems a bit too unfair.

I wouldn’t hate it, but Bubba could literally just stand in shack, and not go downstairs. They’d have to add a second entrance to basement, which I actually think should be a thing.

Um, wouldnt be a bad idea actually, but putting it inside would make it too small and clunky, maybe outside or something?

Personally, I believe the basement should be moderately bigger and have two entrances. It should also have two chests, an additional 6th totem, and a generator to encourage survivors to explore.

So you want the killers to not be able use their power in the basement thats just dumb

It already is by the mere fact theres only one entrance thats impossible to go trough without someone getting hit.

Problem is that some killers (Hag and Bubba more than anything) take too much advantage of this to the point of being broken.

With Hag if you dont have a flashlight you are force to do a SLOW save which can easily give Hag enough time to walk back to the basement, and with Bubba, its basically impossible to save the guy if hes anywhere near, and yeah its bad idea to do so, but again, the victim dying basically on first hook cause its impossible to save him its a terrible experience.

The basement is a tool of the killers, it should not restrict them. If you don't want to get hooked there, use that basement location offering and stay away. If someone else gets hooked there and the killer is camping, do gens.

That is part of those killer's strengths. And sure dying on your first hook sucks, but it's just one trial. Survivors aren't dying on their first hook in every trial.

I know but BHVR didnt though on how strong the killer would be at basement when designing them, thats why Hag and Bubba are such an issue there, hell at one point it was so bad that the killer could bodyblock the stairs and trap everyone down there.

I just feel Basement should be redesigned in some way, so there isnt a single exit or not allowing the killer to use their power in there to make it more fair, it would still be disadvantageous for the survivors, but not oppressive

The entire point of the basement is that it's a big environmental threat, hence why the hooks don't break and why there are 4 of them.

I get the line of thinking in this thread, but I'd argue it isn't a problem because that's the entire point of it.

    ...No?

It's the Killer's home. The 'Killer Shack', with hooks that never break and a crappy perk that makes people die faster in it. It's supposed to be the Killer's home turf on whatever map they have been put on.

I don't get this run of posts asking for Survivors to have their hands held, recently:

    1. Killer should lose his power in the Basement
    2. Tunneling/Slugging/Camping need to be removed
    3. The Killer grabbing people trying to unhook is 'unfair' and should be removed
    4. D.Strike should be basekit 'because Killers have Bloodlust' 🤦‍♂️
    5. NoED is OP (Rofl) and should let Survivors know it's in a match from the start (thus removing it's usefulness)

It's like Survivors are thinking 'It's unfair if I lose, so let's change whatever I lost too instead of learning & playing better'.

Only if it also disables the survivors perks.

Why would I get punished as a killer for using one of the best spots I have to hook survivors? It makes no sense.

Disabling survivors' perks, on the other hand, could be a rework idea for Monstrous Shrine.

"Survivors who get hooked in the basement see all their perks disabled for 10/20/30 seconds after being unhooked, and beneficial effects don't apply to them" (read: no BT) ... heck, do it for both the person on hook and the unhooker, while you're at it!

"Survivors in the basement see all their perks disabled while in the basement. This effect lingers for 10/15/20 seconds after they leave the basement"

Maybe you could make a case for them, but it'd be incredibly weird to not be able to ring my bell in the basement.

It was until they added killers like Bubba that made basement absurdly dangerous.

Just cause it wasnt a problem in the past, doesnt mean it isnt now, thats the thing, the game changes, and so far the basement has become worse and worse to the point of being absurd with some killers.

    survivors would abuse this

Honestly I'd wanna take it a step further and remove the basement entirely and put the hooks in the shack itself along the back wall opposite the window. Basically, a basement hook boils down to: is the killer Huntress, Twins, Hag, Trapper or Bubba? Yeaaaa nobody in their right mind is gonna try and get you. And then as killer the basement can mess with hook spawns and I have to spend an eternity going to the basement because it's the only hook in the area and I waste so much time because I'm not gonna camp it.

I feel the problem is still overstated. Go for a safe unhook as in, actually safe, and not what the game tells you is safe. Or if that is impossible, gen rush and make the poor soul lost down there the ONLY one.

It would be a problem if generators were blocked while someone was hooked down there.

The thing is, the survivor controls the chase in terms of where they end up.

The shack is an optimal spot for looping, sure, but if the basement is in shack and you're worried about a specific killer guarding it or making it harder to escape from, I'd argue not to take that killer over to it lol.
