The second iteration of 2v8 is now LIVE - find out more information here: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/480-2v8-developer-update

I wonder how long it will be before the devs Nerf Wraith.

I get nothing but DCs when I play as wraith. I feel like the dc rate is going to cause the devs to play into the wraith op nonsense.

It has more to do with how easy he is as a killer and gets free hits with his massive lunge easily

He makes chases feel hopeless unless you are in a good tile and are VERY good at running it. I'm mediocre at best at looping, and he makes me want to find a different match especially right now where survivor queues are nearly instant. Though, I wouldn't DC I have no problem missing skill checks while on hook.

I think his silent bell might need tweaked. I swear every Wraith I've run into as of late runs it. Luckily I'm never without Spine Chill, but I can't say the same for my teammates.

his addons are irrelevant. you need to have above average mechanical skill and awareness to handle Wraith. Fact of the matter is, even a lot of red ranks are poor loopers. Wraith games usually devolve into Mexican standoffs at pallets.

    I rate this post:

    Bait out of 10.

Nothing constructive was added and is actively manipulative with trying to blame DCs on wraith instead of the lack of a DC penalty.

If you allow a killer to position themselves in a way where they're blocking the vault or pallet, thats your fault. This usually only happens when a survivor messes up a loop and thinks they can keep going around but the killer has some distance on them and can block the pallet or vault if the survivor attempts to double back. Good survivors don't mess up on loops like this and know when to drop pallets or just abandon a tile altogether if the killer is blocking a vault or pallet.

When it comes to wraith, I remember when people used to call him one of the worst killers in the game (just from what I used to hear people say a while back, obviously there were a lot of people that thought otherwise). As a matter of fact, its only recently that I've noticed people start to praise wraith possibly because of his new buffs from the 4.5.0 update I believe. I think he's fine where he's at and doesn't need any additional changes to please survivors who are incompetent.

Well if you look at patch history its largely buffs and QoL changes

Hell im pretty sure his Lunge used to be an addon before.

    How to play Wraith.

    Uncloak, hit, cloak, uncloak, hit.

He moves much faster while cloak so why not just make him 110 speed?

I think his silent bell add on is mostly fine. Maybe only make it silent to survivors when within 8 meters and to everyone else they can hear it.

The problem is his all seeing add on (When cloaked, Survivors' auras within 12 metres are revealed to you). This feels cheap especially if you pair it w/the silent clapper.

They buffed it from 8 meters, to 10 meter, then 12 meters in the past. Maybe make it so you only see aura within 8 meters??

    His addons need a rework.

Survivors are so used to stomping Wraith that it triggers them when he can get kills now.

What addons are you running when you play Wraith?

    "Free" right...

Its totally not because you weren't paying attention and let the stealth killer sneak up on ya.

No totally "free hits" that you totally couldn't have done anything about. >_>

Why would they nerf him? His previous version was stronger lol.

If you know what you’re doing with Wraith, the uncloak lunge was MUCH more valuable than m/s.

He’s simply gone from Windstorm reliant to Swift Hunt reliant.

If they're "nerfing" Wraith in a way then they'll be changing All-Seeing "Blood".

Wraith should not be nerfed lol at least I really hope he doesn't. He's one of the easiest killers to go against but he can be a tad frustrating every once in a while.

Or y'know, maybe realize that he's the same as he's ever been? In fact I'd argue that his current base-kit is weaker than his older self with Windstorm. Plus his lunge is the same as it's ever been, the speed boost from uncloaking is just barely longer. Y'all only complain about his base-kit because he wasn't as common as he is today.

Agreed. I really don't understand the Wraith hate. Like he barely has been changed at all he's still Wraith and he's still a lame M1 killer.

  • glitchboi
    glitchboi Member Posts: 6,023

Exactly. I still think he's barely average as a killer. All they did was make him more enjoyable to play as and even more enjoyable to play against in my opinion, because they made an add-on that made him viable base-kit.

With all the "Wraith OP" threads we've been getting lately, I really wouldn't be surprised if Wraith's buffs got reverted, which would honestly piss me off.

So just gonna forget how this guy is barely visible until he gets near you? same for his breathing which is short range?

Not every gen has good loops near it to avoid an ambush, an example being that top gen in Hawkins which is terrible btw, who tf made that gen?

I am vision impaired and I can still see him running strait at me from a distance.

Idk maybe I played a lot of games where stealth has that same shimmer so I am trained to see it but wraith rarely sneaks up on me unless I am the first person he finds so and even then it rarely helps him.

Also doing generators in dead zones is always a risk against EVERY SINGLE KILLER IN THE GAME!

I mean, smart Wraths will use the environment to hide even more, instead of solely relaying on their Bell, using walls, rocks, etc.

Yes and that's also why you try to position yourself at generators so you can see his potential approach areas.

Also even if you didn't see him from any areas you were monitoring guess what? Those areas are safe to run to if he begins to uncloak from another direction.

Its also best to prerun before you even hear his bell tolling(Which is literally symbolic for those about to die.) as if he successfully sneaks up on you. He successfully outplayed you!

Edit: He's a stealth killer. His ability to successfully sneak up on you is part of his skill expression and ceiling.

I don't know, I play Wraith at Rank 1 and it feels like every single Survivor actually knows how to use his weakness against him.

All Survivors have to do is stand still at the Vault or Pallet and wait for the Wraith to Uncloak. If you or any Survivor tries to Run or Loop him while he's cloaked that's the problem. You'll never outrun him when he's cloaked, just find the nearest pallet or vault and stand underneath it until you see him start uncloaking.

Then either Drop it on him for an extra long stun while he's uncloaking, or Vault over and by the time he uncloaks you are already away and can loop him like a regular M1 Killer - repeat the process if he Cloaks again.

Survivors that know how to deal with him can literally infinite loop him if he doesn't manage to catch them off guard - and that's the whole reason he has to play sneaky to get hits. Vaults and Shack can literally destroy a Wraith, or a good L T also wrecks him.

    ALSO

Please Don't Forget how FLASHLIGHTS can actually completely screw Wraith over, VERY EASILY at that. And at Rank 1 I seem to notice that there are AT LEAST 1 or 2 Flashlights in every single match, with users that actually know how to not only blind you with it but take you out of stealth and stun Wraith. I think he's the ONLY Killer in the game that can be completely stunned and stopped by using a Flashlight, without even having to Blind + they can Blind on top of that too....

And now Flashbang and Blast Mine ALSO have added effectiveness against Wraith.

Flashbang barely has to be in range at all of Cloaked Wraith and it will completely Stun them and take them out of stealth. It's actually super messed up, I have seen the Flashbang dropped before and immediately turned around into a different direction while running Windstorm Addon & Cloaked and still couldn't get out of the blast radius - it completely melts Wraith.

Similar with Blast Mine - which is not counter-able ability at all if the Killer has to Kick a Gen. I kick Gens while I am cloaked with Wraith all the time, if they happen to have Blast Mine, then I will not only get blinded and stopped by the blast, but I will also be stunned in addition to that and lose my Cloak which wastes even more time.

I don't mean to be rude, and I know I'm only hurting myself as a Wraith player but trying to help explain these methods above for facing against him, but the bottom line is that he is still VERY weak compared to many many other Killers when it comes down to facing Survivors that actually know how to deal with him.

If you have a problem facing Wraith, more than likely you are just a Survivor that has not learned how to play against him properly yet. This is probably partially due to the fact that before his buff NO ONE, (except for me and a handful of others) probably played him, so most Survivors couldn't get the experience they needed to learn how to play against him.

Now he's definitely in a little better place, and more people are starting to use him so he's terrorizing more Survivors than usual.. but once Survivors learn his ways it's really not that hard.

My suggestion - and probably the best way to find out how to play against Wraith or any other Killer for that matter - is to PLAY that Killer yourself. Play him and find out what other Survivors are doing and using as tactics to get away from you on that Killer... you'd be surprised what kinds of crazy stuff you might pick up.. and most of the time once you learn how to do it yourself, it ACTUALLY does work.

That's why it is important to play both Killer and Survivor in this game, you can learn SO much from the players that you face. ^^
