The new map is HUGE
When I heard people say that the new RPD map is big, I thought they were exaggerating. However, I've had the misfortune of playing on the new map as the Trapper and wow, the new map is comically large. It's seemingly built like a maze too! At multiple points, I heard that a gen was being worked on but I simply had no idea how to even get to them. At one point, two Survivors had gotten trapped simultaneously but I genuinely had no idea how to even get to either of them. It honestly feels like even if the Devs were to cut the map in half it'd still feel huge. As well as this, it seems that some of the tiles are a little too close, allowing for them to be very easily chained. The streamer I was playing against even commented "That's a lotta vaults" after they vaulted four separate windows in just under 20 seconds (Fyi, I wasn't stream sniping, I watched their VOD after the game). I'm glad the Survivors didn't go out of their way to be immersed. If they had, it would've been miserable. Personally, I'm hoping that the map stays at the low chances of popping up forever. I dread the day when the map is fully fixed for everyone because then we'd likely be playing it a lot more. It's a beautiful map at least. It's not an eyesore like some other maps. What do you guys think of the new map? Am I overreacting or is it as bad as I'm letting on?

It helps if you played RE2 before but yes it is a huge map that can compared to a maze. It’s fun but can be overwhelming

If we had a list of every problem a dbd map could have RPD would tick all the boxes.

The complaints are way overblown and mostly come from a lack of map knowledge, yet people keep parroting the same stuff instead of waiting until they've learned/understand the map.
I've only been able to get 3-4 games on it, so I can't comment too much on the loops, but I can understand if some of those need to be adjusted. In terms of the size/layout, I think it's mostly fine. There are a few sections that could stand to get trimmed down(like the library upstairs, for example), but I don' think it's that much worse that a lot of the other indoor maps, it just has a more complicated layout that's going to take more time to learn.

At least we dont have to worry about the sewers

Should have played a 60 bucks game to understand the map better, 4head.

It's actually the effective size of Mother's Dwelling. If Mother's Dwelling was doubled in size, then cut in half and stacked on top of itself.
Then filled with God pallets and God windows.
Then filled with trash pallets and trash windows.
Then made extremely cramped and full of LoS blockers so that killers can't use their powers or even track survivors.
The filled with long winding corridors perfect for getting value from the W key.
Then randomly peppered with generators that are almost impossible to find without a considerable search and hooks that are spread too far apart.

You realize that it's double the size of Red Forest, as it has two floors? You don't need 'map knowledge' to know that's far, far too large. Even if you DO have an idea of the map layout, the time it takes you to get anywhere if incredibly long. The devs went with appearance over playability.
Again, learning the map is one thing, actually making it playable is another.

Red Forest is a realm, not a map. The maps within Red Forest vary in size. People are saying it's comparable to the size of Mother's Dwelling, not in terms of actual square footage, but due to the fact you can't run in a straight line and that increases travel time. I know, I've seen the video.
The problem with that video, is that it measures a single axis and fails to account for the shape and layout of the map. Mother's Dwelling is essentially a square, RPD is more like a rectangle. Sure, it may take a similar amount of time to get from one side to the other(mind you, from one side of the top floor, to one side of the bottom floor) on the horizontal axis, but it absolutely doesn't take anywhere near that amount of time to travel the vertical axis. Gen positioning, accessibility and looping potential also matter quite a bit, in practice.
I'm not saying RPD is a great or even good map(I'd need to play it more, to say for sure); what I am saying, is that it's definitely not as abysmal as everyone says it is; there are plenty more problematic maps in this game. And yeah, it sucks for certain Killers, but there are plenty of maps that are like that, from Lery's to Rotten Fields, even Mother's Dwelling.
