Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Behavior When are going to prevent players from playing with an stretched resolution?

A lot competitive players play with stretched resolution eliminate the mind games, I think it's a good momment to all players playing under the same conditions.

Please remove the change to stretched resolutions in the next patch.

Highly doubt that it is possible.

Personally, I would not care for stretched resolution. Unless they are a streamer or Content Creator in general, you cannot prove it anyway. So why bother?

Pretty sure there is a way to use fixed resulutions to make sure people don't stretch it.

I'm not a PC expert but aren't there some cases in which stretched resolution is necessary because of certain monitors?

You think the code in this game would be able to handle that? LMAO.

There is people seem to forget some people have monitors biggers then normal and pushing a native res would completely hurt them the most imagine playing a game with half your screen covered in black bars would legit be awful. Best thing Behavior can do is just make the height of tiles and rocks etc bigger which they're doing.

Won't happen. I am fine with it tho even as console player.

Fov is all sorts of ######### up in dbd. So, yes. On ultra wide monitors you have to stretch your res to a standard 16:9 aspect ratio, or your camera will be in your character's ass when playing survivor, and you won't be able to see nearer than 2m as killer.

If they force resolutions in a certain aspect ratio will break the game for people with different resolutions.

People with non 16:9 aspect ratios would essentially be forced to stretch their game.

And they can't just "force native res" for a few reasons. For one it could that create performance issues .for example I have a 1440p monitor but I prefer to play in 1080p in order to maintain 120 FPS. Additionally you can just change your monitors resolution with the use of the control panel and they have no control over that.

People using stretched for advantages isn't a new thing to dead by daylight, plenty of people do it in FPS games so that it's easier to shoot, it's not that big of an advantage.

At least fix whatever lets players like put gamma on max. Looks awful anyways, but makes stealth inconsistent.

This, its a hard thing to fix. That probably means its never going away.

People will ultrawide monitors don't like the black bars. They got too used to the larger monitor size, so it feels off-putting.

Try looking up how small early 90s monitors were, compared to nowadays. Now imagine using that instead of your current screen. That's how it feels for people on ultrawide to play at standard screen sizes.

Sorry but whether they like it or not is irrelivant.

You should not get a advantage in a game because of your choice of monitor and if there is no way to fix it outside of black bars they just have to deal with it.

If there is another way to make it work without giving an advantage i would be all for it but letting them cheat because they don't like the fix to it is just silly

Best way to fix this would be for them to add settings into the game to allow this sort of thing anyway

Oh, I agree. However, I'm pretty sure that's why the devs don't want to use black bars, because the ultrawide people won't like it.

If not Black Bars, then make it so they cannot see over loops and walls. One of the most bullshit things about Streched Res is the fact that it makes mindgaming survivors practically impossible.

It's probably a better idea to change maps instead. If an object or tile is supposed to be tall enough to offer LOS blockage and concealment, make it so tall that looking over it in any way is no longer feasible in any way.

No need to do stuff that would probably be unpopular then, like forcing certain aspect ratios that might screw over those with non-16:9 monitors. And at that point they can add actual in-game resolution selection, so someone can change from 1920x1080 to 1280x720 without messing with desktop res. And that change causes no stretching whatsoever as they're both 16:9, it's nothing but trading visual quality for better performance. Switching to and between more common laptop aspect ratios like 16:10 and 3:2 would probably only cause very minor stretching as well, as it's when you start heading more towards 1:1 aspect ratio the stretching gets really noticable.

EDIT: And oh, there's ultrawide too. I honestly have no idea how DBD handles them, like 21:9 aspect ratio and all of that.

Don't rate strechted that much anymore, at this point filters are way stronger imo. Just watch streamers who are playing the game as intended, ppl will come in asking: "Why does your game looks so dark?". And they're right, filters can give big advantages. The problem with that is, not everyone can use them. The only thing console players can do is drop a "less fog offering", as we don't even have graphic settings.

If you're playing with strechted and/or filters, just try to play 1 game without it. And then compare. It's basicly like cheating.

How is stretched resolution different from every other in-game thing that gives you an unfair advantage?

Simple, it was not intended by Uncompetent devs.

Someone who uses unfair in-game things and then says that using stretched is wrong is an hypocrite, and i have yet to see someone who isn't

And that's why i will be using 1080x1080 resolution as long as the game isn't fixed.
