Having fun as killer
Its really a load off your shoulders when you just dont care. Ive been having a lot more fun just playing the game with no expectations and not letting a single thing get me mad, flashlight click me, loop me, tbag me idc, if im ghost face ill teabag back
Idk where im going with this but you really start to enjoy the game more when you just dont care, i still play the game so im not just some farming killer, but i dont let the little things get to me, i guess its cause im not very competative by nature i just wanna make my own fun. I dont need to 4k or even feel like the threat, just enjoy yourself and youll reach dbd nirvana

I have never understood why so many killers seem to only have fun it they get 4ks. I can play battle royales and not win a single game in hours and still have fun. In fact, that's usually what it's like for me playing BRs. It's just always been odd to me that DBD has a grey area and yet so many people see that as a loss. Survivors don't see every game where not all four survivors make it out as a loss and therefore not fun and not worth playing. I just do not get it.
But I am glad you're having fun regardless of how many kills you get. That's how I play killer as well. I play video games to have fun, and that's not contingent on winning.

While it's true that not caring can save you from a world of hurt with this game, BHVR's abysmal matchmaking doesn't do them any favors either. It's easy to say that you don't care how a match plays out, but when the matchmaking pits you against people far more experienced than yourself time and time again, it gets old real fast.

yea i could see that from a new players perspective 100% i went thru the same thing with apex, getting launched in a game i know nothing about going against people that have played since launch, but that didnt stop me cause i still had fun and it pushed me to get better. I have 1.5k hours on dbd so im not new by any means but im also not a god tier player. i think when people realize they are going against people way better than them they can take that time to learn how people are looping and when to swing/not swing or practice your power, learn the maps. online games arent meant to babysit you

i think it boils down to a "them vs me" mentality, you have no one to fall back on or help you progress. in battle royals its 40-60 people in one game so theres no one to really single you out like a team of 4 survivors would do to 1 killer.
the losses in battle royals or even league of legends to an extent dont feel so dissapointing when you have a team to fall back on
but when you realize its just an online game going against a bunch of randos that really dont care who you are then it becomes less of a problem with your own psyche

I mean, I can understand why, because you can feel very powerless in a situation even though you're supposed to have enough power to at least 1v1 someone and get out on top. So losing as a killer can be very unsatisfactory. The people who slug in a 2v1 to guarantee a 4k regardless of the situation tho, they need to play a different game. They think hatch is an unfair mechanic, even though the commonly accepted win/loss is a 3k or 1k. You have people getting mad they got a 2k and consider that a loss. You have people who consider any survivor escaping to be a loss(idk why), even though all the evidence points out that there is no real difference between a 3k+hatch or a 4k unless you're either red rank trying to get an adept, grandmaster killer challenge where you need to double pip on rank 1(and you need a 4k for a double pip on rank 1) or doing a hardcore killer challenge like Dowsey. Those are the only 3 scenario's I can think off where getting a 4k matters. It's why people want access to a suicide button when slugged, because the dc tech is considered an exploit(even though slugging for the 4k and spending 4 minutes looking for the last survivor isnt, even though it's just as fair)
Any other scenario, and you're just being a selfish a**hole who thinks DBD is a single player game. Let 4k's happen naturally, forcing it by exploiting vanilla mechanics isnt really satisfying anyway.

The lack of a practice mode is what inherently hurt dead by daylight. Yes we could get custom matches going so long as we had a group of friends that also played this game, but otherwise we're stuck practicing mechanics in live matches, and practicing in sweaty online matches does not make for a good learning tool.
