Why are new survivors doing this?
I've had it happen four different times today.
The game starts and some noob runs to a pallet and just immediately throws it for no reason. TWICE AT SHACK someone has done this.
I can't figure out why they're doing this. Do they just think they're being bold by alerting the killer? Dear god, I hate rank reset.

At least the pallet is out of the way instantly. I'll take it.

Could be that one challenge that requires you to pick up a pallet with the killer being close by.

Maybe disgruntled killers are playing survivor and getting some sort of revenge on survivors by helping the killer?

If they are actual new players they might not even know that it alerts the killer and that pallets -especially shack pallet- are so valueable..
otherwise.. maybe they are just trolling. Or have a self made challenge. I saw a Streamer that had commands (one time use per match for all viewers), if a viewer made a command he needed to do it ASAP (eg throw the nearest pallet, use your exhaustion perk..)

I didn't even know there was a challenge for this. But even still, good god, this is not the way to go about doing that challenge. It hurts me sometimes to play this game as a solo survivors.

If you're nearby, it's almost definitely sandbagging. There's a slim chance it's that one pallet challenge, but it's probably sandbagging. Trying to get the killer to chase you so they can go wherever griefers go.

I am nearby, but it's literally right at the start of the game. They're instantly doing this. The killer isn't anywhere near us yet.

Sandbaggers. They're using the notification to draw the killer to you so you get chased I stead of them.

I'm pretty sure theres a game hint that actually says you can use pallets as a distraction

I had someone do this last week. Match starts with me and another survivor in the shack with a gen, the survivor runs over to the door and throws the pallet. Needless to say I just left them to do the gen alone.
Today, though, I had two brand spanking new rank 20s grouped with us. The legion was rank 13, and my son and I rank 8. Apparently they had never seen mending before, so they were letting it run out. One of them went for a save and it ran out at the hook. It was hilarious.

I had somebody do this exact thing to me this morning. Funny thing is, it didn't work because they ended running right into the killer and getting downed. They then tried to suicide on hook, I saved them off the hook, then they wouldn't let anyone heal them and got death hooked about 2 minutes later. Good riddance, I said.

They probably don’t even know it alerts the killer. In their mind maybe it seems better to have the pallet be an obstruction straight away while working on shack gen.

One of the most memorable moments I've ever had was when a SWF duo tried it on me and the other solo. Full in, throw the pallet and spam vaulting kind of sandbagging. we immediately teamed up on them, I ran into the killer and used Bond/IW/Lucky Break to kite the killer over and dissapear while the other solo threw a bunch of pallets early and farmed the crap out of one of them when she was hooked the basement. The other DC'd when she was downed only a few metres away from me.
The killer was so confused as to why me and the other solo were laughing so hard in chat after losing so hard.

I have watched dbd letsplays back in 2016. Player was doing his first steps. He played several games and he did this move. He said: I learned one thing, if you see the pallet you need to throw it down instantly because you can quickly vault trough the pallet but killer can't.
It was funny to rewatch this videos after I get some expirience in dbd.
