What is winning?
Okay so I kinda want to know what is winning to other people in this game. Do survivors only win if all 4 escape? Does the killer win if all 4 die? Do you win if you get a pip regardless of life or death? Do survivors win together or alone? Is it only winning if your opponent flames you in chat afterward? Just curious as to what other people think.

i win when i have fun! it doesn't matter to escape for me, it matters to help my comrades, escape from the killer, make generators and when possible, escape ... exactly in the order I wrote!

Pretty much this. I don't mind getting killed or if I get one kill as long as the match is fun. I, personally don't try and put my own "fun" above others (I.E. I don't try to ruin others experiences for my own sake.) But, ultimately, if the you end the round smiling, you won.

There is no winning in this game you either lose or lose harder

I win when I have fun tbh. Bonus points if at least one of my teammates gets out but in general in this game, to me you just have to play for yourself and find your own definition of "winning."

Winning in this game is highly subjective. Yes there are game mechanics that are literally called objectives, however, the ambiguity of roles in this game allows any player to set their own objectives.
You can work on gens, or only do bones, or even slam out some chests with coin offerings.
Maybe you're brave, and only wish to engage with the killer, and attempt a 5-gen chase...yes that would still require your team to work the game objectives, but it's truly thrilling to run a Tombstone Mikey for an entire trial, with no deaths.

I win as long as I get to play the game and have fun. I only care about escaping if I have a challenge.
The best matches I have are the ones where the killer and survivors work together to gain a bunch of points and get a lot done. The worst matches are the ones where the other survivors gen rush and open the gate or the killer gets really aggressive and I leave with around 6k bp. Just let me play the damn game! lol

maybe you haven't read what I wrote! first point: help my comrades! I repeat: I win if 1) I help my fellow survivors 2) I run away from the killer 3) I make gen and totems 4) I flee from the test. in this precise order.

I wasn't accusing you of anything. I was agreeing with 100%.

Did I have fun? then, yea I won. Even if I 4k and sweat my butt off. it feels like more of a chore than winning.

Killer: If I get a hook on all 4 survivors
Survivor: If I get 1-3 Gens done (either by myself or with another survivor)

I agree with what everyone else is saying: I win if I had fun. If I die to Michael after spending the game memeing with him, that's a W in my book.
If I had to put things in order as Survivor, it'd go something like this:
- Having fun.
- Getting a really good, long chase in against a decent Killer. (I mean like a long chase against a Killer who knows there stuff while you have teammates who don't just sit on gens- not a 3 gen chase while the entire team was sitting on a gens and you just pre-threw every pallet or the Killer is really new and struggling on like Hag. I want mindgames and good plays.)
- Getting archive/dailies done.
- Getting value out of a non-meta perk like Flip-Flop without dedicating an entire build to it.
- Getting over 10k BP.
- Getting the team out.
- Escaping myself.
For Killer, it's about the same, but with minor changes: 2. Getting good use and skill/value out of Killer's power. 4. Getting 4 stacks of BBQ. 6 and 7 are 'Getting a 2k', and 5 is getting value out of an odd-ball or meme perk like Make Your Choice value on Legion.
Idk, I play for fun, not to escape every game. (Even though I guess you could call my builds on both sides a little more meta leaning rn, but man I just find the builds really fun and satisfying to run.)

No idea, BHVR doesn't seem too keen on giving an OFFICIAL win condition for either side.

If I pip-up (unless I'm in Red Ranks, in which case a black pip will do), I'll consider it a win.

It should seem pretty apparent that getting 3 or more kills is winning as killer. Getting 2 kills or less is losing. The old rank/ pipping system used to be based on this

Escaping or 3+ kills. Nothing else matters.

It varies from game to game for me. As survivor, pipping using feels like a "win" to me, even if I don't make it out. If I had a successful chase or accomplished a lot to help my team survive, that's enough.
As killer, it varies even more. Faced three Rank 1 survivors with a 4th on a smurf account as Legion, a killer I barely play and still got a 2K (and was an eyelash from snagging a 3 or 4K) -- that definitely felt like a win because I played well. I've gotten a 3K or even a 4K before and it felt more like a loss because of how many mistakes I made (the survivors just made more, lol).
Overall, though, I want to have fun. I meme around as Piggie enough and get no kills in a match but still have a blast, so it's not all about how many people end up on a hook. As long as I'm enjoying myself, I'll chalk that up as a "win".

I have to say that going up against a social pig is always a blast, even if we all end up dying.

Agreed. If someone is willing to Boop, they get a free pass for the match. I've depipped for mass Booping, lol.
This was one of the funniest groups I ever went against. I found them ready to Boop watching the overhead TV's and things went surreal from there, lol.
Everyone lived in that match, and I depipped, but I didn't care. Definitely a win. 🤣

lmao That's cute. One time me and the other survivors were doing a circle dance in a corner of the map in one of the dead end areas and we were lucky enough to get a Bubba that took use all down with the chainsaw lmao But we all got a kick out of it. I wish there were more matches like that 😭

Another odd way for me to "win" is if I find a baby killer, and I let them push me around a bit so that they can learn how the killer works. I might take them on a long chase, or stand still for new huntresses to learn hatchet aim, or even die on hook because the killer's not used to the wiggle timer and I've wiggled away from them twice so I stop wiggling when they down me. It's just nice to help people once in a while.
