Lethal Pursuer vs Whispers

I'm really enjoying lethal pursuer and getting a lot of value from it. Sometimes it allows me to get hits on multiple survivors 30 seconds into the match, sometimes I start a chase 15 seconds in and get a down before a gen has even been touched.

I'm wondering if anyone prefers whispers. I feel that LP gives so much value so quickly that it outshines whispers even though it is single use.

For me atleast LS beats whispers by a mile

You know exactly where everyone is meaning you can go to the biggest cluster of survivors and always ensures the best early game you can possibly have.

That is coming from a person who finds Whispers extremly overrated though. I think i would pick almost every other information perk outside of whispers

The beginning of the game is more important than knowing whether someone is skulking around dozens of meters away.

I really like both and they have theyre ups and downs. Whispers has a weaker effect but lasts the whole game and is great for defending gates to ensure a 4k if thats your thing. Lethal pursuer has a much stronger and immediate effect that can set up a very strong early game and put yourself in a very strong position to snowball but if you flub it up you basically have a garunteed waste of a perk and will likely have a rough game.

Also id say that many killers won't get as much value out of lethal pursuer as whispers, like trapper or hag since your early game isn't gonna be great anyways and you should focus on your mid to late game.

Lethal Pursuer is really nice because it gives you a very good idea of the strategy the survivors are going for. You know where to strike first, you know what gen is a waste of time to defend and move on, plus it allows you to call some of the shots the survivors will be going for as the game advances.

Whispers' main appeal is that it gives you an idea of where to look for when you're not sure of your next plan of action or figure out where survivors are hiding when running Corrupt Intervention, but I don't like as much the info it gives. I'll run Whispers if I got nothing else to run or maybe Spies From The Shadows.

I prefer Whispers. The fact it's less accurate is greatly compensated by its usefulness throughout the whole match.

People always say this but when i play whispers it practically is always lit throughout the match.

For me it seems that whispers only does something at the very start and the very end of the match and the end is mostly irrelivant

Lethal Pursuer helps being able to find survivors quickly at the beginning of the match which can mean a lot

Whispers helps you know when survivors are at least around at any given point during the game

I couldn't say I'd choose one over the other.

Whispers is the best Tracking Perk in the game. However, it depends on the Killer, which one is better.

E.g. I run Lethal Pursuer on Nemesis, Myers, Oni, Plague and Legion, simply because those Killers benefit from finding Survivors ASAP (with the neat bonus for Legion that you can see how many Survivors are grouped up, so if 3 are spawning together, you dont end up with seeing the one lonely Survivor).

However, on Killers like Billy or Blight, I prefer Whispers, simply while Lethal Pursuer would allow me to get into a chase ASAP with those two Killers and their Mobility, Whispers basically does the same - sprinting over the Map with Billy until Whispers is on is only a bit slower than Lethal Pursuer AND you have it for the whole game.

I prefer whispers, for once it's one of the best tracking perks out there if you know how to use it.

Whispers help you as any killer, lethal what is the point if you cannot get instant pressure or let you know if someone is looking at you while you set traps (trapper).

What is the point of using lethal persuer on killers like current legion, current trickster, current clown or current trapper, they do not benefit from it, meanwhile the same killers do benefit from whispers to tell if someone is there or not.

One lasts what? 9 seconds? The other one the whole match "bUt whIsPeRs OnLy woRkS eArlY gAmE anD enD gAme" then I can tell you do not know how to use whispers if you think like that.

Same, whispers is only good for finding the first survivor and the last one.

Only moment whispers really shines is when i play against REALLY immersed survivors

Lethal Pursuer is better. It sets up your entire early game. Whispers helps you a bit, mostly at the start and end.

Are you seriously saying knowing where the biggest cluster of survivors are doesn't benifit Legion?

And pls tell me how i am using whispers wrong if it's lit throughout the match.

I begin to think whispers is a perk that players with bad tracking skills use to offset it.

Imo whispers is so overrated, if you often find whispers deactivating then you need to play more survivor to have an idea where survivors like to be.

If it's always on it's doing its job, which is not let you waste time in areas where there are no survivors.

Or I'm just naturally always where the survivors are and whispers is a training wheel perk that i don't need anymore

I absolutely prefer lethal pursuer on anyone with high mobility.

Nurse, blight, and even billy all make it preferable.

You can be on a survivor and get a hit by the time it's over.

If your good enough Whispers is better than any aura reading perk because it's on all the time and there is no hiding from it.

I mean you can tell “oh hey I’m 40 meters away from the hooked survivor that means someone is still nearby waiting to go for the save or in the process of saving.” Whispers has a lot of passive info you can gain, I can tell how far away I am and triangulate survivors positions extremely easily and there’s little counterplay to it. Though it definitely takes a lot more skill to interpret than LP.

  • Sonzaishinai
    Sonzaishinai Member Posts: 7,976

If your 40m away from a hook and it's still lit then there could be a survivor in progress of saving somewhere 40m behind you or they could be 40m ahead to the gen you know they are working on. Or they could be in a bush 5m next to you. That's not concrete information. All of those options are possible and there is no way to know which one is true.

It's probably cause I'm used to playing Legion who gets a lot of information with their power. Like other killers could benifit from it not being lit when on their way to check a gen to not waste time going there.

With Legion if you use FF correctly you have a pretty good idea what gens are and aren't worked on.

The triangular thing is more fancy then usefull to me. Especially when all 4 survivors are still alive

Whispers is better than Lethal Pursuer because it works for the entire match and can still be used as an early game tracking perk albeit not being as good in the early game.

I prefer LP on high mobility killers including Billy and Blight.

Whispers is better in my opinion. More potential upside. That said, I think LP is better if you want to be hyper aggressive.

LP is very good on killers like Myers, Plague, Hag etc. Whispers is pretty ok on every killer but not great. But it does work all game so hard to compare really.

Whispers because the second I stop using it I get a game where it would be of insane use during endgame.

32 meters, you can master how to use whispers you would understand why it is better.

If whispers is off, and you move to certain point you know EXACTLY where the survivor is.

Lethal persuer is for people that really don't know where to go, note I'm not saying that it is a bad thing and sometimes spawns are messed up but lethal persuer is nowhere near as good as whispers.

And not always whispers is on, if it's on then you will most likely see crows flying/landing or scratch marks.

If you think it's overrated, then your opinion, nothing wrong with it but if you think whispers is bad then my friend, the problem is on you for not knowing how to use whispers.

Edit: most of the time when you play as legion, when you see someone then that is great, you will see survivors either way after hitting a frenzy, there is not that much of a point to use lethal persuer on legion because he lacks lethality.

Spies from the shadows is better than both especially since zombies will sometime force survivors to run

Whispers is probably the better overall perk but lp is also lots of fun.

LP is ok but if I had to choose, I'd pick Whispers simply because it has no time limit. Finding a survivor early-game with Whispers is fairly easy but it also has the benefit of staying with you for the rest of the match. The only downside I have with Whispers is I start to rely on it if I use it too much.

  • Sonzaishinai
    Sonzaishinai Member Posts: 7,976

I've used whispers a ton. I know how to use it. I find it overrated i never said it's bad.

That's the thing you don't know exactly where the survivor is cause there are multiple survivors. It could as easilly been a survivor to your side that entered the 32m radius. And if a survivor enter the other side of the 32 m radius then you can dance an triangulate all you want whispers stays on and you have no real information.

I feel people who talk about whispers only picture best case scenario's and don't mention the times the perk doesn't do the one thing it's suppose to do. Giving information

Also you are viewing Lethal Pursuer wrong. It's not just about finding a survivor. It's to ensure the best opening every time. As Legion going to where a single survivor spawned vs where 3 of them spawned is the difference between all survivors injured under a minute and 3 gens down after your first chase.

If you just use it to find the closest survivor and ignore all the other information it gives you then i can flip it around and say you're not using Lethal Pursuer well

Actually I could easily see Lethal Pursuer being really good on Legion. Against decent Survivors, you only really get one shot at a good Frenzy because after they know you're Legion, they won't group up.

Since I have no issues finding players in the beginning of the match, whispers is far superior for me.

60s cooldown if you miss is rough lol

I like to run either Whispers or double Calm add ons for Doctor. Whispers + SB tells you if somebody is either hiding in a locker or has Calm Spirit. Double calm just increases chances of hitting somebody

Whispers always has people who have no clue how to use it to pinpoint survivors and people who can use it to tell EXACTLY where you are. Weather Lethal Pursuer is better or not really just depends on what kind of person you are. I'm not gonna waste this time going on about how to properly utilize whispers, theres already posts for that that go indepth. Personally... Unless you plan on sniping someone from across the map, Whispers is better. Video is an example of what I mean by that.

Sidenote...Whispers cant be countered while Lethal pursuer is leading more ppl to use distortion.
