If there was a fix that made it 100% accurate, they’d have done it.

They need to actually put real effort into this and not just "he with the faster ping gets the hit/stun." Cause that is bs, I thought this was meant to counter people with 200+ ping hitting you through pallets but all it does is make the person with faster connection the authority, it can be by 150 ping or 5 ping but if you connect faster with the server then you always get your way.
Talk about a lazy way to implement hit validation, not everyone has 20ping but likewise most people aren't screwing others over with a 180+ ping, you are just screwing the people in the middle.

Oh, did they FINALLY fix VPN killers and made pallet hit validation fair? Finally the game will reward for good connection instead of rewarding for bad?

Nah I'm not on a Vpn and got robbed of several hits....survivor makes scream...blood splatters and the hit sound goes through....I get stunned and no hit. So it isn't "Vpn killers". Ping usually hovers around 60.

if I didn't get the hit it would be nice to not have the indications that I got the hit and just take the stun right away.

I had a hit with the survivor screaming and me wiping my weapon but they took no damage and then I got stunned.... Wired internet by the way with high speed....

I've had a Demo lunge when I was not even at max range cause the survivor to not take damage from it, and I wasn't even at a pallet. Not really surprising something meant to fix or make one thing better doesn't function properly. Luckily, like Blight's bugs still not being fixed after like a year, it's a killer issue and we all breathe a sigh of relief.

Will be completely normal now had that happen 5 times against the same guy and my ping hovers around 60-70

devs should be improve "hit validation" the patch is horrible and benefits only survivors.

I mean survivors used to get hit through pallets all the time, and windows. So I guess the shoe is on the other foot now.

For me, it used to be a trade. If a survivor wanted to risk a down just to stun me, that was on them. As a survivor, I never ran into this issue as I just kept creating distance.

It feels good honestly. As a survivors you can finally be confident with pallets, and as killerit just feels fair.

I agree but I find it funny how it’s been this way for one day and killers are freaking out, when survivors have been through it for years. The role reverse is a nice change.

They definetely need to remove the screams and the successful hit sound effect when your hit gets rejected though ☝️

I kind of agree with this. The issue is that even if the server awarded both a hit and a stun, which it does if the killer was quicker anyway, then the hit benefits the killer while the survivor actually loses distance on their speed boost for throwing the pallet.
The problem is when interactions require precise timing and can be dependent on milliseconds the game either needs to be accurate for both sides, which it currently is not due to poor optimization and higher ping even with good internet, or it needs to provide benefits to both sides, which dbd's pallet interactions do not allow.
I think they should have left survivors getting the short in of the stick on this one until they can better optimize the game, due to to fact that survivors have more players per match, more individual free time in a match, and generally more room for error; my point is that this is far more punishing to a killer then to a survivor when the server has to make this extremely close call.

This is also happening with Bubba CHAINSAW - You literally hear the Scream and everything - the hit is 100% successful, THEN the pallet drops immediately after, Bubba gets stunned, and the Survivor is up and running away at 100% health uninjured - even though they just got hit by a chainsaw...

I believe it was at least fair IF a Survivor took a hit + The Killer still got stunned by the Pallet - because at least then both sides got what they were trying to do in that specific moment.
I have the highest speed internet available where I live, but I still only get around 100-112ms ping playing DBD usually, and since the change I seem to get stunned by the Pallet even though I hit the Survivors (sometimes with Chainsaw from bubba) and hear them scream, yet they do not get injured at all.
When I can see on my screen that a Survivor got hit with my chainsaw and hear them scream, on My End I feel like I did my job successfully, because on my screen and my connection and ability to play, I landed the hit successfully, but with the new change what happens is that the Survivor doesn't even get injured when this happens and we still get Pallet Stunned.
Before the change, I would get Pallet Stunned, but the Survivor would at least also get injured, which to me seems like a much more "fair" exchange. Both sides are successful - instead of just one, when the other didn't do anything wrong.

Actually it's equally as impactful for both sides, a survivor going down too fast can mean the difference in escaping or not. It's not just a killer thing, survivors are also on a timer.
Besides, you didn't get robbed, you never earned the down / hit according to the server.

All the people that keep saying this is a good thing realize whats going to happen right?.....Everyone will be either playing Nurse, Spirit or Death Slinger because to them the situation is like "What are pallets?"....... Now I don't have a problem with not getting hits through pallets the thing is that if I didn't get a hit my client should not be telling me I got a hit.

This game has been robbing killers of hits since day 1.
Recently I vaulted into a chainsaw when Bubba mind gamed me. He was rewarded with a pallet break and I ran him for another minute.

this is my issue someone with 30 ping always gets priority over someone with slightly higher ping, this is great when we are talking about idk console killers on wifi with 200 ping, but 30 vs 60 getting priority idk man. you essentially cant die if you have the best connection to the server? this means better ping just wins every 50/50. idk

This is just the reversal of how it's been since the start of DS where if a survivor safely vaulted through a window or palette they'd still get downed by an attack even if they were several steps away already.
BHVR for whatever reason decided to reverse the code and make the hit detection survivor client-sided instead of killer-sided.

Its about how it looks. If pallet hits now will be more fair, thats a good thing.
Problem is how often on killers screen it looks like a hit, you see blood, you have after hit cooldown animation but after 3s the survivor is healthy and running away.
So in a game with so many audio bugs, you cant even trust your eyes now. Even if you get a hit you cant know for sure after few seconds pass.
The idea is great and I am for making pallet hits more fair, but if the software cannot do it in less than 0,5 seconds then why even implement it?
Also as a bonus: if you hit obsession with STBFL like this, and server invalidates the hit, the obsession will go back to healthy but your 2 stacks will be gone anyway.

They need to remove the animation if the hits is rejected. Although, that will cause some visually delayed hit when the hit is actually validated.
I don't have an issue with the change. I play on 30 ping and I can't pokos survivors through pallets. Unless they're laggy and the pallet is drop very late on my screen, which I suppose it's considered a fair hit anyway in this system.

So now in exchange killer get better registration for their grabs? Since those are also bugged for almost a year by now?
Or do killer get nothing at all anymore? I don't care since I normally respect all pallets and prefer to brake them for the BP and less stress later in the game but canceled grabs without any injury bugged me also for months/years.

Why can't they both just happen? In those tight situations I always thought it was most fair when the Killer got Pallet Stunned AND the Survivor took a Hit.. that's at least fair to both sides instead of just one or the other.

That’s not fair at all, completely biased towards killers. The stun is nothing compared to a hit.

Doesn't matter, the people that are "late to drop pallets" aren't late on their end, and they do live next to the servers. There is no reason to prioritize worse internet connection like they have been.

It's fixed for both sides. Don't see why you think not getting free hits is screwing anyone over. Maybe don't screw the person with better ping over instead.

Kill grab registration wasn't changed...
All they did was just give you the score event/Archive completion for failed grab.
That flatout said that this patch has temp killer grab compensation but not any real fixes yet.

M1 killers already get looped to oblivion and destroyed enough this just makes them even weaker.

That's assuming we are talking about if it happens 1st pallet.
In my experience usually a survivor that knows what they are doing will loop me around 5-6 pallets before I would finally get that chance to down them, and on my screen I'm doing everything correctly because it shows that I am in reach to finally hit the Survivor that I've been chasing for what seems like ever, and then I DO land that hit (again according to what the feedback from the game is ACTUALLY telling me) and the Survivor still remains uninjured.. despite all my hard work on ONE single survivor while the others are working on gens of course, and it basically in these cases extends that survivors ability to loop substantially.
Now my point being, that it's completely unfair to a Killer not just because of the above circumstance, but consider that in these cases that I am referring to, I did nothing wrong, I see a screen and know when my lunge is in distance to land, and I attack then.. the lunge does land successfully on my screen so I did the play correctly as best as I possibly could in that moment with what is available to me, the game indicates so by showing us the down and the scream BEFORE we get hit by the Pallet. It means that we Lunged within distance at the appropriate time BEFORE the Survivor actually had time to drop the Pallet at the right angle for example, and then the Server essentially teleports us backward for a moment and saves the Survivor.
I'd also like to mention that it's not like Survivors have been using this as intended and standing at Pallets waiting for Killers to come near and lunge at them to drop the pallet and stun.. no, Survivors I've been facing have been completely abusing it and just adding very confident additional Loops to their loops.. in fact, they literally keep looping now until you Lunge at them no matter what because they know that 100% of the time the Pallet Stun will save them from getting injured.
It's true too, even if they wait to pallet stun me when I'm already basically across the Pallet and even end up on THEIR side after the Stun, if my attack lands on them they will still end up not being injured, seen it happen now many times and these people who were already godlike at looping can just loop like 2-4 more times in the same loops safely now with almost 0 risk. It has essentially made every single Pallet Loop a Safe Pallet in the game for Survivors. Just something to consider..
- ALSO - Something crazy happened to me today, but MY LUNGE (not at a pallet, in open land) got "Hit Validated" .. yes, this is a thing, I actually Lunged WITHIN Distance in the open, SAW the Survivor get hit and Scream, then all of the sudden their character model went full on white (like it does with Pallet Hit Validation) for a second, and they were back to being 100% uninjured, and I even teleported backwards slightly with my character at that same moment. But I saw the blood, heard the scream, even saw the red claws on her HUD face in the top left and then all the sudden she immediately went back to being healthy, within a second later whilst slightly teleporting me backwards.

Yeah, I think it's an unintentional side effect of the Pallet Validation, because there's absolutely no reason there should even be "Lunge Validation" in the open, but yet there is.
