I haven't seen BHVR screw a killer up this badly since The Twins
Of course I'm talking about The Trickster, a big topic on the forums right now.
I played two separate matches, one as , and one against. In the first match I played as survivor on the Macmillan Estate. Then proceeded to be slaughtered like cattle due to the large amount of low loops in some variants of the realm.
So I figured, why not? I'll give trickster a go with a macmillan offering just to see how it is from the other side. My god they could barely do anything out in the open, but of course he struggled in high walled loops. That and the large amount of reloading I had to do thanks to his recent update.
Trickster felt awful before, but he could still whittle you down in the open, albeit at a slower pace. But now it feels like they boosted his strengths and weaknesses x3.
To the point where he feels damn near uncounterable out in the open, but piss easy to run through high tiles. ( though I find 360'ing in place is a surprisingly funny and effective tactic to evade his knives on console )

The big poignant issue with tricksters """""rework""""" is that it cripples him in areas he was already struggling. Less knives to down? Great! he was struggling with his lethality at loops. Less knives to work with? Not great! trickster already struggled with his knife count since it took so many to down people and it was easy to miss them. Main event can now be held for 30 seconds, and is effectively instant when triggered? Awesome! Trickster almost never got use out of main event due to how short the window was to use it. Bumping the needed knives to acquire it all the way to 30/44 of his carried knives? Not great! Trickster will VERY frequently be low on knives upon obtaining it, thus forcing him to choose between reloading for longevity or potentially getting a down with it but skipping on a time saving reload. The people changing him clearly understood in the manners in which he struggled, but are so damn clearly afraid of making a strong killer. They didn't change his movement speed, they made laceration tick down faster which in conjunction with his slow speed makes him agonizing to play on extended chases, his map pressure is literally non existent, etc etc. Im tired of them being so cowardly about making strong killers, the wraith rework was the most recent time we got a strong killer and they've instantly backed down into their crying corner when a small portion of the community were salty that he was a lot stronger. I weep for trickster, and i mourn what he could have been. and never will be.

Yeah, Trickster has a horribly designed power in my opinion.
I wish they gave him some sort of music-related power, but instead we got bootleg Huntress combined with Old Legion.

I was hoping for some rewind power.
My Concept of what I wish Trickster was.
Power: Playback
He holds up a phone then presses rewind.
Phantom clones of survivors will appear 5 seconds of what they were doing ago. Copying every movement what the original survivor did.
If Trickster hits the Phantom it will continue it's normal path but with a twist, if the Phantom eventually touches the original survivor it will injure them or down them from injured.
Second Power: Main Event
To charge this power Trickster has to hit at least 3 Phantoms.
Trickster creates 1 clone of himself that appears in the farthest generator.
These clone move at the speed of 110% and will attempt to hit any survivor they see.
The clone will disappear after downing a survivor or 20 seconds is up.
The clone can break pallets.
Possible Addons:
Iridescent: Platinum Record
During main event all survivors gain EXPOSED.
Rare: Upbeat Sample Tracks
Phantoms that were hit will gain moderately increased speed.
This fixes:
His lack of map pressure.
The lack of originality.
Being actually threatening.

That's a cool power, but I don't really see how it relates to Trickster much.
I was hoping for some sort of power where he could sing different songs, and each with have their own buffs/debuffs for him and the survivors.

Trickster has been a disappointment before it even came out, when they were showering the teasers, the song rewinding and the glitched dbd logo had nothing to do with his power.

idk what you guys are talking about Ive been playing trickster just fine 3-4ks all the time with one 1 slow down perk.
maybe crack open that Aim Lab on steam.

Can someone explain to my the reason anyone would play Trickster over Huntress or Deathslinger? Not salty here, I don't play killer much and when I do, it's none of the ranged killers. He just seems so bad. Like, how many poorly designed, unfun ranged killers do we need in the game?

Aim lab can only help so much when he has an alternating throw pattern.
Oh yeah, and I'm on console. We're always the afterthought to whatever BHVR designs.

He needs a full rework imo since his power has no identity and feels confused

There is no reason to play him over slinger unless you like playing trickster more because of his character or how fun he is.
I play both slinger and trickster. Unlike what people say you will not get people in the open if they have half a brain so his main strength is useless.
I urge anyone who plays trickster and "consistently 4ks" (you don't), to play deathslinger, and come back with ONE reason in terms of viability why you should play trickster over slinger.

Yesterday I unfortunately had to play against Trickster on Ormond. It really felt like an Old Legion experience.
That match was so annoying that I broke my one golden rule...and DCed.

well, to be honest, I haven't used wraith in a while but I heard he had been buffed and I can't believe how powerful he is now, I hooked all 4 before even 1 gen was done, but for trickster i agree, in open space good in loops and tight bends bad
