Anyone else find playing killer considerably more stressful than playing survivor?

The killer is meant to be the one who is the scary dude. But I find playing survivor nice and chilled. Killer on the other hand is sweaty as #########. I play a couple games of killer and then wind down by chilling out and doing survivor. Something about that really doesn't sit right with me.

I am only level 12 killer, but my games are filled with insta blind flashlights, people who move so erratic like it's hard to hit them, gens are getting completed at a ridiculous speed, the pallets are ######### (I've been stunned by pallets 3 times while I'm kicking a gen)...and then of course to top it all off every little thing I do wrong is met with some tea bagging. A few of the games I've had as killer tonight have made me feel absolutely useless1

Whereas even against a killer in red ranks, I know what I should be doing from the get go. I've only really had one game against a killer where I felt hopeless, against a spirit with a couple of hexs that caused exposed, but other than that even when I'm sacrificed i have made a decent amount of points and helped my team out alot.

Am I the only player that finds killer so much more stressful to play? I acknowledge I'm not in red ranks myself so maybe my opinion will change if I ever get there....but then thanks to the matchmaking system I'm often placed against them anyway despite only being killer 12 and survivor 13. And if I'm not the only one, does no one else think that this is a bit backwards? Shouldnt playing as survivor be the time when you are stressed?

Personally I find it the other way, but I guess it's because I've sunk 2k hours in the game and mastered most of the Killers in the game.

Because of the way the game is built Killer will usually be more stressful than survivor since your going to be active all game whereas for Survivor you have teammates to take the fall for your mistakes.

I hope I find I feel the same eventually. I like 0laying both sides but prefer killer, but some games have been so demoralizing to play. Maybe when I get a couple meta perks it will change.

In my opinion killer is definitely the more stressful role.

  • Yes which is why I refuse to play it

Definitely not just you, I get super stressed playing Killer, but it helps me be friendlier to killers as a survivor, especially in post game. I try to throw a GG out if they’re pc players no matter what, I guess because I’d like to get similar treatment myself.

Killer is a more stressful role for me also but the reward for a good game is greater mentally. I do much better as killer if I am not taking it serious. Just relax.

Killer is more mentally stressful and more importantly, more emotionally stressful

Depends on the match, a killer match against a gen hugging SWF will be stressful just the same as a survivor match where your teammates are potatoes or you going against spirit will be as well.

Killer match vs good survivors is just race against the clock from start to finish. So I bet it should be stressful. The only game I played where even victory can make you feel like #########

Killer is supposed to be more stressful. As survivor you have less enemies, less objectives, and mistakes are much more forgiving.

I've only recently converted to playing on Xbox, and I've just started using Freddy... Killer games aren't typically stressful if I'm confident with a Killer or ok with sacrificing a 3 or 4k just for fun, but they are when I'm unfamiliar and/or not trained with a Killer. Yes, when I play Freddy, I'm total rubbish. I think I had a game earlier (of only 3 played so far) where I had 8 hooks, but I was playing Projections in a smart way. For someone of my experience and magnitude with Freddy playing how I did in that game, I was absolutely fine with the fact that I only got 1 or 2 kills... it was a fair compensation, if you ask me; I got to learn the ropes of Freddy a bit while having fun.

But even earlier, I was thrown into Lampkin, and I did my best to play smart. Didn't work out real well. I had to resort to inadvertently tunnelling a Survivor because I have forgotten to change my brightness settings on my TV screen to a higher level (yeah, I play console, so of course every map is twenty-times darker than they should be)...

I think on the whole, it's important you have fun. I'm pretty laughable when I'm not running Maple Knight or similar add-on Doctor or Billy, but I take it in my stride. Most of us aren't competing for anything, which is what these forums are usually blind to.

Killer is more stressful because you are the only player on the team and you have to juggle between 4 different survivors.

When you are playing as a survivor, you only have to keep track of 1 person, the killer

How do you get pallet stunned 3 times while trying to kick a generator??? Are you talking about Blastmine??

Anyway, it just depends on the match. Solo Survivor has the potential to be just as awful and stressful. Some games of Survivor are awful and stressful, some on Killer are the same- and others are cake walks.

They're both chill and stressful in their own rights. I think there's a decent argument for Killer being more stressful overall, but that's kinda the nature of 1v4 games, and I think a lot of the Killer roster has a lot of tools to make it less stressful, along with getting more rewards overall. (With the biggest thing standing in your way usually either being matchmaker or map RNG.)

I think killer is way less stressful. I do what I need to do and don't have to worry about other players. I mainly solo as survivor and find potato survivors to be so stressful. As for the "emotional" stress - uhhh teabagging etc don't bother me in the slightest - I just view it as a stupid move - just gives me more of a chance of getting them. I couldn't care less about "toxic" behavior from complete strangers on the internet.

Wish I could remember the map it happened on. But the pallets seem to be able to hit even if you are slightly out of range now. I played the same nap twice and it only happened on that map, but theres a couple pallets a few feet from two of the gens and if it was dropped when I was at the gen it stunned me.

Reading these comments I think I need to try and relax a bit more, get myself a slowdown perk or two as well.

Killer just got more stressful since you have to track each survivor's ping as well as exhaustion perk. You already had to second guess every grab, now you have to second guess your hits too.

If I want a chill game as killer I set my win condition as 4 stacks of BBQ.

I never found it more stressful, but I didn't sink a ton of time into it either. I'm just not that into that role so I don't play it.

Naturally playing the mastermind means that you get no down time and that you're in constant pursuit. If you let your guard down, you can easily be overpowered like Gulliver's Travels lol

But despite the down time, survivor is stressful when it comes to trying to maintain your one strength: teamwork. You can't rely on yourself only, but you also end up in a lot of matches where you can't rely on your teammates either.

Then of course, both sides have the added stress of trying not to end the match too quickly. Although I guess that's down to perspective.

It really just depends at the end of the day.

Yeah, things will for sure take a turn for the better once you use meta perks on Killer. Playing Killer without at least one gen regression perk usually ends up being a very stressful experience.

That's the nature of the game

Your mistakes as survivor are forgiven as long as your teammates are good

Your mistakes as killer are punished by generators popping around you

Yes, but bc i care less for winning as survivor. If i would really want to escape every time it would be really stressfull.

When I started yes for sure. Now that I have gotten fairly decent at killer not so much. I think though if you don't main one side killer is more stressful.

this OP is the issue with killer players.

they want to be carried by there slow down perks instead of learning there killer.

its not hard, i play trapper by far one of the worst killers but that doesnt prevent me from getting a 3-4k all the time because i know that killer and play style.

Killer can be 1000x more stress

Survivor can be 1000x more salt

    It kinda balances out somewhere.

It’s to be expected, as it is a 1v4.

But ultimately if you let yourself get stressed out then that’s on you.
