Whats the point of DC penalty?
When there are still game breaking bugs in the game which can completely crash the game (and some the entire system) on PC and console?
And what about poeple holding hostage over others? You should be able to just leave the match and Q new. OR actually bring a workaround for hostage holders like invisible hitboxes if 2 hitboxes are touching each other for more than 1 minute.
Also, I still dont get the concept of bringing a DC penalty in a casual party game like DbD. If at least there were to modes (ranked and casual) I would understand a penalty for ranked like in Apex legends. But oh my, 2021 and the game is still offering one game mode... with BUGS like no other game.

But in a casual game? Even Apex legends doesnt punish rage quitters in normal Q and everyone seems fine with that. Because if you dont want to have rage quit mates you can either play with friends or play ranked where rage quits are much rarer

Tbf some are still gonna rage quit anyway. It mainly just stops people DCing on final hook which wasn’t a problem anyway

Someone who wants to leave the match will just take the alternative: Suicide 1st hook or going afk. DC penalty aint changing much here but punish people most who get kicked due to crashed, internet Hickups, hostages or bugs.

Because leaving the match completely ruins the game for everyone involved. Everyone wants to have fun in a casual game yet it’s hard when other people are dependent on you having a fun experience or not.
That’s true but DCing on the first down is a problem and people that do it deserve to be punished.

Exactly. If someone doesn’t want to play a match a 5 minute penalty won’t make them play it and even if they stay they’ll just throw or go afk

Somewhat but tbf the only time I’ve had people dc on first down is when I’m running blatantly unfun things like pinky finger clown or rusty shackle hag. Not saying it’s the right thing to do but we need to figure out why people dc in the first place aswell

We just saw what happens when there's no DC penalty; matches are literally unplayable because wusses will wuss out for any reason they can invent.
Surprisingly; that happens allot less when there IS a DC penalty. Almost like it works to discourage people from being babies. 🤔

casual party game. tbh you should give ragequitters a day ban. Ragequit DCs should be punished. They ruin the game. No penalty means they endorse it.

Your misconception is that DBD is a purely casual game. The fact that DBD is a PvP game means that it will be competitive just by the sole nature of pvp games.
The devs have been trying to create balanced matchmaking so players of similar skill can go against each other. The devs are showing that they don't want to treat DBD as a purely casual game.

Yeah, there are less DCs with the second penalty, but you haven't counted suicides and AFKs. Not surprising, because killers tend to only see DCs, never caring about other ways survivors leave the game.

We can't CONTROL how a Survivor plays, but we want our matches to not have 3 people DC because they're pansies. The DC penalty is a needed thing, and I have found that those against a DC penalty are the most likely to abuse not having one.

I mentioned this in another post. People who DC don't care about de-pipping. So having a player de-pip upon disconnecting won't matter. Those same players will also just kill themselves on hook to escape a game.
What I suggest the devs should actually do to combat people who DC and even as a bonus combat against the players who purposely depip to go against low rank players they should never be facing just to have an easier game, is this; If you disconnect, or purposely leave a game early via suicide on hook, you should safety pip, that way you cant derank yourself to where you dont belong. But instead of a queue timer, they need to implement a Blood Point Gain penalty timer.
For example, you leave one game, you have to play one game in full without any blood point gains. You continue to leave early, or suicide, the penalty just extends. People don't care about pips, they don't care about fairness, all they want and care about is their blood points. Remove that from them and I bet you a LOT less people will be disconnecting or killing themselves on hook.
And like I said, as a bonus this will also combat players who purposely derank to try and bully newer players. They wont depip, and they wont be gaining any blood points. It will keep everyone exactly where they belong skill wise.

Here's the thing. D/C penalty for a short time didn't take away pips and people still en masse d/c over any inconvenience because whatever minor penalty that existed no longer existed.
D/C penalty also used to depip people twice instead of just once and that also did nothing to stop people from d/cing.
The most effective way at preventing people from just d/cing anytime they want is the D/C penalty.

Sure, I agree that people are babies and will DC when they don't get their way, but my argument is that they do that because they don't care about the "punishment" currently in place.
You can have someone who thinks, "######### it" im going keep disconnecting even if my blood points are taken away. Yet when a new killer or survivor comes out, those people will be so in the red in negative blood point gains they wont even be able to level up any new characters let alone get new items on their current ones.
Either way, I see no reason not to try it. As of now, even with DC penalties the way they are, people are still disconnecting every other game. Right now all it gives you is a time out. People don't care about time outs. Remove the only thing that allows people to progress their account and then they might think twice.

I'm tired of people under the illusion this is a casual game. This game is not casual by any means. 2 sides, human controlled, are pitted against one another. Here's the google definition of competitive game.
"Competitive games are those in which players play against one another and where one player winning means another player loses."
It's not super competitive e-sports lvl but by the very definition listed above, this is a competitive game.
and to your question. Look how many people quit when the DC penalty was turned off. Even if the game is busted the DC penalty should remain on because 1 DCer is ruining the game for 4 other people. I don't care if your not having fun, if you hate fighting X killer, if you got found first or if you missed your DS. You aren't the only person playing. 4 other people paid money for this game too. The only reason you should DC is if real life stuff comes up. Any other time is not acceptable. If your constantly crashing due to bugs then the best thing you can do is play something else. Your wallet speaks louder than your words. The devs won't fix it so long as people are playing their broken game.

Again, it's people pitted against one another. So yes, fall guys is competitive. Just because a game doesn't have tournaments and esports media does not mean it's casual. Gears 5 is comeptitve but I consider horde to be casual because it's people vs the AI.

For toxic Survivors: To stop them from leaving just because they were killed, like the little crybabies they are.
For Killers: To have it glitch out and give a 5hr ban to them just because a Survivor DCed during matchmaking.

I would be fine with no dc penalty if there was a system in place that made serial DC players play with other serial DC players. Scum bags can play with scum bags... fine by me ^^ Leave the rest of us good sports alone.
That is wishful thinking tho so until then, yes we need a dc penalty. No matter how you look at it the fact is your DC ruins the game for 4 other people. No one cares about your excuses.
As for modes, I would like a proper QP and Rank mode but I don't think that will happen.

The point is simple, it works. When penalties are on, there're def less DCs.

On the other hand, if your system crashes you need that 5 minutes to reboot and reconnect, so it doesnt matter then, either.

What if I have no friends to play with? What if I'm playing Killer and would like to play instead of having a Survivor DC because I downed them once?
When the DC penalty was off, I always had one or two Survivors who DC after being hit/downed for the first time. Really fun to play.

what about disabling the ability to gain any BP, XP , Rift Progress and Shards from the next round ?

DC penalty is here to force people that usually DC to suicide on hook or throw the game.
Which will boost killing rate stats.
Which will lead to killer nerfs.

Nah DCing players were completely out of hand. Something had to be done. The game WAS unplayable, without a DC penalty, because so many people rage quit every single match, it was a nightmare for both Killer and Survivors.

That would probably get much backlash from people with crashes since this would hit them way harder than the 5-10 minute timeout.

That would be bypasses by cutting the connection in windows or pulling the plug from the console and so on.
That is the big problem, the system can not differentiate between a time-out because of loss of connection from the sever to the client from their side or the server registrating the timeout because the connection was cut manually from the client.

Dc penalty has no point at all rage quitting survivors and killers will keep doing that no matter what if they cared for penalty and rank they wouldn't do it in first place and game keeps getting being broken and ppl are keep getting disconnected often or in other case it can be internet crash, irl issues you gotta deap with etc etc dc having punishment needs complete rework

Nah man 80% of ppl has back up accounts and it takes you to dc like 10 times before you get miserably 30 min ban I don't think it's doing it's job because it punishes players who didn't deserve it at all especially if it's their own company fault that games crashes often

Current DC penalty should be harsher. (of course after crash and bug fixed) if 1 quit could be bug or hack, or some reason, second is overtly ragequit.

Agree with you it needs to be harder for rage quitters but in current state it gives penalty to everyone and I dont think I deserved to hang for 5 mins because their game decided to kick me out

ranked is a meme. Has no meaning and the conditions to rank up are utter garbage and dont reflect skill whatsoever. Its just there for the achievement and keep small brain players playing thinking rank 1 is something special.

Because people suicide or go afk instead. If people want to leave they leave. And people who crash crash regardless.
