Yeah SBMM isn't needed 🙄
Because getting steamrolled is fun match after match.

I don't think it matters if we like or dislike the new system. It'll come eventually.

I think so as well. Honestly I look forward to it. After this match I dread if every match was like this. These survivors walked all over me like it was my first time playing the game.
1 -
Matches like this are caused by long queue times for either side. This probably won't change with MMR, as the devs program the server to prioritize getting you into a match over making you wait longer for a more balanced match.

I feel your pain. Whenever I play survivor I get matched to red rank killers, whenever I play killer I get red rank survivors. I'm an average survivor and an average/potato killer. I just can't win either way lol

What I wonder:
- What will happen if only few players are online?
- how will the system sort players that formerly got to red rank through plain BMing?
1 -
These kind of mixes in skill level will very likely still happen to keep queue times as short as possible, just now you wont know because the score will be hidden.

Yeah that dread thing is a common thing. The higher you get. The more you´ll fear survivors.

Why doesn't matchmaking just have an option to tick on whether to prioritize quick games or games with skill level as close as possible? Seems like a more straight forward solution to be honest.

Rank 20 player clicks on fast match, because he can´t find any players on his rank.
Instantly regrets it after getting matched with red ranks.

Some of my friends have bought the game and since there's barely any legit rank 20s they spend at times 10-20 minutes just to find one game - Plays one game and queues again only to get bored realizing they'll have the same queue time only for me to tell them "Just climb out of those ranks it will fix the issue" and then decide the game isn't worth their time and goes to play something else because not everyone has more than 2-3 hours to dedicated to video games a day and committing that to grind out of a rank with a ######### matchmaking system isn't great. Also suggesting play at X hours isn't a solution because not everyone can bend their schedule to play at the right hours just to find a game in less than 5 minutes.
Even better is when some of my newbie friends finally find the game it's still with rank 1s or people who are blatantly smurfing. So regardless either way it wouldn't matter may as well save them the time wasted by at least giving them the option to find a fast game.

I'm curious why the topic specifically on this got deleted when it wasn't something controversial. Its a game mechanic feature, people should be able to discuss it whether they're for it or against. Everyone acted civil.

Best time to start is usually around a free weekend. Because a ton of new players flush in.
But this issue probably will be solved, once the SBMM goes live. (at least thats what i hope)

I get what you mean and I do appreciate skepticism it shows you care about mm'ing too. Thing is it's still a matter of finding time to play the game and this game punishes you actively if you don't play like 2-3 hours a day or hours throughout the week as a new player.
I do hope the issue is solved but right now matchmaking as a newbie is awful. If you wanted to even test it you could make a fresh steam account and play DBD through Steam Sharing just to test it. Sometimes you can find games fast but that's pretty rare. Sometimes my buddies who are new can find a game in 2 minutes and that's cool. Other times they just want to chill in a discord call because some of them have had an upward of 15-20 minutes just sitting there doing nothing.
Ultimately we can't rely on events for new players to have good matchmaking times I feel there needs to be a permanent solution that gives an alternative. New players joining a SWF also makes it worse because MM struggles to find a game and ends up just chucking them at a higher ranked killer which I feel is fine but still. I'll wait for the new MMR system to roll out and hope it fixes the issues but I won't hold my breath.

Yes well some people in this community dislike things that they haven't even seen in action yet. We still don't have a fully functioning MMR system, so all these tests they've done aren't even representative of the final product. People look at these tests (or they don't, they just assume) and are like, "This will never work." So do they want the devs to experiment and try and improve the game, or would they prefer that nothing changes? 🤔

The SBMM is the only thing that can solve this issue. Because right now, ranking up is so easy that people almost instantly leave the new player ranks.
That being said, the frustration is part of the design. Timestamp 09:39

Your build is not new player build. MM did good.

I get matches like this already. I'm rank 12 and see purple and red all the time plus its normally a swf.
1 -
But that would be all his own fault for being dumb. But getting thrown into such a trial/match even though there was a considerable waiting time... is just shoddy game design.

The game is simply not new player friendly. But at least we got bot modes.

Where is this at i need to practice my hatches . I'm on console btw

Amen to that. I know a couple of people who stopped playing the game for good after a few weeks. Too unrewarding and unfun for newer players. And yes, in my humble opinion this joke of a matchmaking is one of the main factors there.

I had this beautiful experience right now. I'm paired with a tryhard red rank SWF that leaves me to die after I finish the last two gens because they found hatch and who cares about the random online, right? MMR is trash not just for the player they match you against, the teams they make are horribly unbalanced.
1 -
you're getting steam rolled because only 2 killers out of 24 are capable of handling competent teams

Am I the only one who enjoys the SBMM...
1 -
MMR isn't on. You just provided evidence for why MMR is needed.
4 -
no hatch is trash and it encourages bad gameplay if survivors find hatch they'll just stop what they are doing and just camp hatch.
hatch needs to be exclusively only for the last person and should only spawn when the last person is alive

You can find the Bot mode under "getting started".
But as of now, you can only play as the Trapper.

Oh ok thanks I wasn't sure if thats what you were talking about

I dont think its healthy to put your PS5 like that while your Switch is that close.

Honestly if you are ok playing against spirits or nurse every single match, go ahead with sbmm since honestly that is what you will face often.
Rank means nothing especially since the rank reset change, I just played against a rank 2 ghosty who couldn't follow scratchmarks and got outplayed by IW hard.

There was supposed to be an offline bot mode with the mid chapter per the developer update. For some reason it never happened and BHVR hasn't said why.
1 -
I noticed this too. Rank 14 has better perks than I do at rank 1. I have seen this often though.
0 -
Maybe they are still working on it.
1 -
I never claimed to be a new player. I've been playing this game off and on for a while, but I do so casually. To be honest most of the perks I have are attributed through the store as it's the only thing I spend shards on. But having teachables isn't a measure of skill, it just shows how much you've grinded. In that match SBMM would have been a welcome feature.

I sincerely hope so. I bot mode where you could practice all killers has been one of the most highly requested features for dead by daylight, and the fact that such a thing still doesn't exist over 5 years later is ridiculous.

Correct!! And thats why you re-read the message before hitting the Post Comment button lol. Sorry Im dumb, what I meant to write was that the current system was trash, not MMR.
