Who is MMR for...
Scott Jung asked what MMR was for in one of his recent videos and I think he was very close to the answer. He rhetorically asked if it was for players who wanted to have decent teammates, then dismissed it because those people would be continually going against “Nurses and Spirits and no one wants to play against that all the time”.
Scott is one of the few youtube content creators I like watching, however, I think he missed the point just slightly. The majority of players, about 95% aren’t red ranks. Those players want teammates that are at their level of play. If you are a “Yellow” level survivor, you want fellow “Yellow” level survivors and a “Yellow” Killer. You want a fair match, you don’t want “Red” Killers coming in and slugging all four of you with a Nurse in 1 minute of the game.
As a “purple” ranked Survivor, you don’t want a “Yellow” Ranked survivor coming in and unhooking you right in front of the Killer. Certain skill levels do certain things. The game is much fairer for 95% of the players when they are matched with their skill level.
I do understand why some people don’t want MMR, specifically “Red” rank Killers players. Killer is already a lot to juggle and when you get placed with “skittle” players, the game is easier. Yes, MMR will appear difficult for those 5% of players that are comfortable with “skittle” matchmaking but “skittle” matchmaking is also a crutch. If you want to be better at the game, you need to face more difficult opponents.
In the end, you have two choices. You play opponents more suited to your level and develop more skills, or you play for fun and enjoy where you are even though you aren’t the top player
MMR will be much better for 95% of players because they are tired of being curb-stomped by excessively high survivors or killers or screwed by excessively low survivors. That is who MMR is for.

It's for the casual players. You can be a casual player but be amazing at the game or just really bad. MMR will help prevent these two players from matching with each other.

It's for me to have fun games and not be forced into four slow down sweats every game when I want to meme or play sub-optimally for a change. :)

Agreed. Personally I had a great experience with all the tests except one. I just feel that if I use a killer let's say Billy for example (Have used him 3-4 times sporadically) who I am not good with I should not have to play the exact same level of competition as I do with Pig, Huntress, etc. If I do well with them it will bring me up to those opponents but should not start there. Just because I am Rank 1 with the killers I use don't mean I'm rank one Billy which most survivors don't get. I think it's funny people think they will only play nurse, spirit, blight at the top but that's false. There are plenty of us that are better with other killers. Not every good killer uses the best killer.

How can you/someone be against a even playing field?
I am a killer player and as soon as I hit any rank under 10 there is noting I can do because the survivors are way ahead of my skill Level, now with mmr I could actually have a chance to play the game because I get matched with survivors on my skill level and slowly learn to get better.
And as I slowly get better I get slowly matched with better players, so it's a win, dunno why anyone would think that mmr sucks
Yes, you get matched with "bad" survivors on your skill level(if you are "bad"), but so is the killer... where is the problem?
Just look at hunt: showdown, they have a very good matchmaking now and you finial dont get in matches with 5000 hours hunt and 120000 hours csgo players when you just started the game

I think with a little tweaking it should be fine. I appreciated having my rank be...depreciated when playing new killers. I just think it needs to be a little smarter with how much leeway it gives. The first couple matches I had trying out Deathslinger I was going out of my way to be nice, I pretty much was just slugging them all and leaving them alone. But by around game 5 that died down.

I agree. Streamers often talk about this game as if the only people who play are in the top 2% of all players and forget that the experience is different for the average player. They also forget that, even if you're in the top 2%, you'll probably get a certain number of matches with average players anyway, just because of how the numbers work out. The matchmaking won't leave you in queue forever -- it'll find you a game, even if it's with people ranked lower.
The people it helps the most are the people in the middle who currently match with teammates and opponents who are too many levels above them, because there isn't enough differentiation between ranks.

Scott (who I do like and often agree with) like most of the youtubers and streamers are against MMR because they're the people who will probably get hurt the most by it.
Consistently stomping your opponents is good content, it's also going to be a lot less easy if you're getting paired up against people of a similar level to yourself (someone who is good at the game, plays it a lot, and has done for s long time).
100+ winstreaks might become a thing of the past. The 360 montage industry may also never recover.

Yes and you get carried into ranks where you don't belong which is bad for you because you have no fun and cannot play, and on the flip side the killer ranks up on you and gets into ranks where he doesn't belong and has no fun as well

People who dont want MMR just want it easier. I can understand if a streamer who plays many hours a day doesnt want to sweat all day, but is it fair to their opponents which lose against them? Some players just need to forget their 4k mentality and be satisfied with their rating if they dont tryhard.
The problem is if you need to wait too long for a match bc you are too good. But that would be easy to fix with a limit. Maybe you should then compensate the "weaker" side for this matchup, but wouldnt it still be a improvement compared to now?

Honestly? He either doesn´t understand how a SBMM works (very unlikely) or he just wants to spread fear in an attempt to bring the playerbase (his fans) to be totally against a SBMM (which i think is very selfish).
Why? Because the normal player will benefit from the SBMM. Getting them fair and fun matches.
The only people that should (rightfully) fear SBMM are Streamers and seal team 6 SWF groups as they will be constantly matched against each other. Which, indeed would be pretty unpleasant for both sides. Since the Streamers can´t do their 50 wins in a row streams and the SWF teams also won´t be able to their funny montages anymore.
But anyone else. Doesn´t matter if its a fresh rank 20 player or a rank 1 veteran. All of them will have fair matches.
