Community mentality on balance
I took this from the scrub quotes twitter (follow for good laughs).
TLDR: many people in gaming communities are mad that people who put in more time and are more skilled win.
I feel that this mentality is toxic and infects most gaming communities, including DBD. If you can pick up the game and instantly win/dominate, I’d say the game is probably trash. The term “tryhard” gets throw around a lot, and it shows this toxicity. You are not entitled to win because you bought the game. If you just wanna play and chill, you need to accept that you will lose more than someone who invests time.

Obviously the more skilled will win against the leas skilled. That's just the nature of most games. But most games with competitive aspects keep the skill levels mostly separate.
Those who want to play a more casual experience can pick from the main matchmaking menu. Those who want a more competitive ( or try hard, if you will ) experience can pick the competitive matchmaking.
DBD has no such separation of casual players and competitive players. We are all funneled into the same matchmaking system.
But almost all DBD players are aware that the matchmaking system is heavily flawed, and in my own words. WACK.
The DBD matchmaking heavily utilizes a knowingly flawed emblem system that funnels people with even a moderate playtime into the highest ranks.
Which is to say that red ranks are an odd hodgepodge of various playtimes and skill levels. People who are still somewhat new to the game can be pitted against the likes of otzdarva.
So, you can see where some of the attitude you speak of comes from. Some people want a more casual experience out of DBD, normally they would stay in the lower ranks due to a decreased focus on performance. But as stated earlier they are funneled into red ranks because of playtime alone.
Hopefully a GOOD implementation of SBMM will fix people going against others who are vastly more skilled. Thus keeping the casuals away from the "tryhards."
Just my two cents on the issue.
P.S. not to mention the nightmare that is individual killer balance, map balance, perk balance, etc.

A non-ranked mode would be ideal thb. I don't wanna face people who force me to sweat EVERY single game. Plenty of players don't wanna face sweat squads or killer all the time, think about it, it's not fun being forced to play sweaty all the time. And no I don't have to get 4 sacrifices or escape each time to have fun. I have fun many other ways in the game, but I'm not a sweaty player at heart.

This.
DBD is the only game I've played that forces you into ranked competitive match ups even if you don't wanna try hard.

Yep. I don't mind getting completive once in blue moon. But the majority of the time I prefer to play more relaxed, not be forced to sweat or try-hard.

That’s fine , but don’t complain at losses.

Personally, I don't think wanting to enjoy a game you bought is toxic. The reason the current state of the game is like this is due to people clashing with this mentality of casual vs. competitive and neither side is wrong if they enjoy playing the way like that.
I've seen the argument of people not enjoying games if they don't win and that's fair... I personally just want to actually get to play and not die within 30 seconds because the Killer decided that tunnelling me was the most effective way to win because of the map, perks, killer, etc. or get gen-rushed and hook one or two people for the same reasons.
I'm hopeful this SBMM actually solves this issue that has been affecting the game since the very beginning.

I don't complain about getting sacrificed. Or having 4 men escape when I'm playing killer. What I don't like is being FORCED into playing sweaty. I enjoy playing relaxed matches having fun. Thus for me needing to win is not necessarily what I have to achieve to enjoy this game. I enjoy the chases for the most part.

I honestly don't understand why people like this don't stay on KYF or single player games.

It’s definitely frustrating to get tunneled early, but you can go right back into another game.
