ive given MMR a lot of chances now.
ive been playing quite a bit ever since they started this test and i keep telling myself "its gonna get better soon! im sure MMR is gonna give me a better match next game :D" - and i have yet to have a single enjoyable game.
here is how my matches went so far:
1) they stomp me and i get maybe 4 to 5 hooks by the time the exit gates are powered, hardly anyone is on deathhook at this point in time - 3 to 4 escape, but because i played "fair" i still got some hooks, blackpip and keep my MMR rating consistent on this level. (this is about 90% of my games right now)
2) i manage to get a good start and build some pressure without losing 3 gens immediately and everyone either DCs or suicides on their first hook. (this is the remaining 10%)
i only see meta perks (DS + Unbreakable is a very common combo, Dead Hard might aswell be basekit at this rate), i get map offerings three out of 4 games (its always either Farm or Crotus Prenn btw, with very few exceptions such as a Haddonfield or Autohaven offering being played every once in a while) and survivors hump generators like its mating season. no one opens chests, no one cleanses totems (i am so tempted to just bring noed at this point), people even let their friends stay on hook for as long as possible and repair a gen right next to them instead of going for the unhook until like a second before stage two, just to squeeze out as much gen efficiency as possible.
i try to play this game casually, i dont want to tryhard every game - but i feel like, if i want to even stand a chance, i have to. i cant play fun killers, i cant play without burning my own map offerings and bringing good add ons, i even start questioning all my perk builds and begin to think that maybe i should just adapt Ruin Undying Tinkerer Pop on all of them, which is pretty much the opposite of a fun and unique Perk build. heck i feel like the only way i can even get a single kill at this point is when i hardtunnel / camp that person!
i dont want to do all of that, i want to play this game casual and for fun - but it literally just keeps punishing me for it!
and no "just play casually and then you get matched with other casual players" is not working. i have tried that for a long time, i only get sweatlords.
i dont play this game to win and stomp my opponents as quickly as possible, i want to have fun. but with matches like the ones ive been consistently having the past two days, that is literally not possible.
if this is going to be the future of this game, then i wont be sticking around for it.
i might check in on the forum every once in a while, but i am certainly not gonna start up DbD again until this test is concluded. im not enough of a masochist for that.

Since it started, I had two OK games. Rest is me spawning next to the Killer and being camped.

pretty much you only want to play nurse or spirit.
so it's based on skill per killer so say you're really good with spirit you get really good survivors.
but you're really bad with trapper you get really bad survivors.
but now say you eventually got good with trapper. you're now getting really good survivors who will absolutely destroy trapper
it all comes down to the fact only 2 killers out of 24 are viable against good players

and the worst part, i cant even blame the killer for doing it.
if you, as the killer, dont play like that and "play nice" (as ive attempted), you just get beaten badly every time.

well, thats not really how it seems to work.
i have played a variety of killers, but my Survivors have always been pretty consistant, skill wise.
i just played a Hillbilly game - and i rarely ever touch that Killer. yet the Survivors i have been matched with were around the same level as those i go up against when playing Doctor / Deathslinger (my current "mains")

Before MMR, I was rank 4 and I rarely experienced camping/tunneling. The Killers were doing 4K often.
And I play Killer too. I never felt a reason to camp nor tunnel. But I understand about generators going too fast. I just don't have fun if I wait in front of a hook as a Killer.

yeah and thats exactly the dilemma i am in:
i either tryhard and dont have fun that way, or i dont and keep getting stomped.

You are currently pretty boosted by the bad Survivors you usually face. Your Hillbilly-Rating will be around the same, if you rarely touch him, since you dont start at 0 when you try out a "new" Killer.
When it comes to boosted - your rating probably increased a lot, because the average Survivor is not good and Killers most of the time have easy games against average Survivors. This means lots of MMR-Increase (not as much as when you would beat good Survivors, but there is a steady increase). Now you are at a high Level and actually face Survivors on your Level, so you lose some games, because you are not on their Level.
It should be better after a few days, because then your Rating is lower. However, this means that you got stomped quite a bit, so there are some painful days and then it should get better. Since BHVR is bruteforcing SBMM on us whether we like it or not, you can quit for a few days and get this experience once it is live, OR you can try it out right now.

Sad days. The thing is, most people think the opponent is gonna do everything to win, so we're all prepared for it.
I have to admit with the test, I have zero fun for now. Fortunatelly I've had one great game. One, out of five hours of playing.

Ideally, trapper players, even ones like otz, will hit a peak MMR where they physically can't go higher (likely playing survivors of above average skill, but not amazing) due to thes limitations. The people who really get screwed are the great survivors cause their MMR is shared on all characters and there only 2-3 killers, as you mentioned, that can play them so they will have to play these killers 90% of the time.
However, this is if it works perfectly which knowing behavior it probably is not. It also assumes that the SBMM will not violate its own rules by putting a god-tier swf or a god-tier nurse who have been waiting a long time for a match against a lower-skilled team just to lower que times.

the thing i am complaining about IS that i am in this "balanced" state where i dont win but also dont lose and that MMR is not giving me any easier matches, because technically speaking i havent lost any.

Whenever I play survivor - I die or get the hatch. Whenever I play killer - I get matched against a 4-man sweat squad. Even with Blight I played for the first time in my life today. Pretty good job so far, working as intended. I've never had worse games than these two days.

well, ive pretty much had the same experience during the last MMR test aswell.
and ive played my fair amount of matches in those few hours, none of which were enjoyable even in the slightest.
i guess if you (not in you as a specific person, but you as in overall) really enjoy tryharding / play a lot of solo q, this is gonna be enjoyable for you. sadly, none of those apply to me.

my survivor games so far have been plenty of clearly newer killers that struggle to catch anyone and have few perks, plenty of killers that just dc after taking too long to end a chase and then a couple of ruin undying tinkerer gamers.
the worst part has been there's been little variety in killers, mostly blights, nemesis' and huntress. For everyone saying MMR would be full of Nurse and Spirit, i've had zero Nurses and 1 Spirit that DCed.

I literally have to AFK several games in a row with all my killers to even have a chance now. I've never resorted to this, but this "hidden MMR" BS is forcing me. And I think I'll play that Chinese clone of DbD during daytime instead of playing survivors, since I doubt soloQ will be possible to fix at all.

Maybe your skill rating is higher than your actual skill. Just keep playing and the SBMM will place you with easier matches. After all, if you start losing, you will be placed against lower skill players, which will make it more enjoyable for you.

If you play solo survivor the sbmm is awesome but the second you play killer its really not you get stomp and map offering are the norm anyway this is how my game goes on my main. If i choose a killer im bad with i got really bad survivor and i stomp them its not even close. Honestly i will give it a bit more time probably 2 or 3 more hour but if my killer experience dont improve i drop killer for survivor and wait until the text is over before i play killer again.

It seems people don’t want a challenge when playing this game and would rather have matches where they can easily curb stomp their opponents.
All of my matches gave me teammates similar in skill and the killers I faced were more varied from the usual Wraith, Wraith, Spirt, Wraith, Blight, Wraith and Wraith selection that I normally get. Sure they still camp and tunnel, but now that my teammates don’t throw themselves at the hook, we actually escape rather than give the killer a 4K.

I only played 4 games so far but they felt pretty good.
Game 1: Demo on RPD with BBQ, Enduring, Spirit Fury, Pop and Rat Tail + Black Heart. Got 4 kills with 1 gen left.
Game 2: Blight on Ironworks of Misery with BBQ, Coup de Grace, No Way Out, Shadowborn and no Addons. Got 4 kills with 0 gen left.
Game 3: Blight on Wreckers Yard with BBQ, Coup de Grace, No Way Out, Shadowborn and no Addons. Got 4 kills with 1 gen left. 1 dc at the start.
Game 4: Clown on Groaning Storehouse with BBQ, Stbfl, Sloppy, Corrupt and no Addons. Got 4 kills with 1 gen left.
Edit: Game 5: Legion on Ormond (Offering) with BBQ, Thana, Bamboozle, Corrupt and no Addons. Got 4 kills with 5 gens left. 2 salty dcs at the beginning
I would say this is perfect as long as my rating doesnt increase

How is that "perfect"? Perfect in terms of "balance" would be 2 kills, 2 escapes. Out of all your games no surv escaped, i highly doubt they think its working "perfect"

But thats exactly how the system is supposed to work. Matching you against newer players, when you play a killer you have no experience with.
While matching you against players of your skill level, when you play with your main. You could use the time to learn a new killer or play with your main and let the system adapt. Once you get a couple of loses, it will match you against "weaker" survivors.

Exactly! It´s actually more enjoyable than what we had before. Right now i get competend survivors that can stand their ground, instead of teammates that disconnect/suicide on the first sight of the killer.

I think its perfect because even without meta perks and addons i can still have fun. but its still hard enough that its not a free win

I agree for solo and for killer but not my main i should not get stomp like that i have 2 win and that because of NoeD and blood warden because i realise pop and ruin are worthless if they split up.
Im not joking in 20 game i thing i played haddonfield a total of 7 time and red forest 5 or 6 time the game are a pain and they last 5 minute if the survivor dont 99 the last 3 gen because they want to bully the killer a bit more.

yeah i get how that works, but the issue i am having is, that i am not losing any games.
i consistently draw. i wont get better players because i cant beat the ones im having, but i wont get worse ones either because, technically speaking, they also didnt beat me.
and i am not enjoying a minute of those "balanced" matches ive been getting, because its extremely obvious that i am the only one in the entire lobby who is trying to take a casual approach here and the survivors are extremely sweaty. i am under constant pressure, because the second i make a single mistake i lose the match and even without mistakes i still have my gens pop left and right.
i want to play a computer game to avoid stress, not to get stressed out.
and i certainly wont be continuing to play one as stressfull and unfun as DbD currently is.
the only thing that has kept me playing for this long is, that i didnt have to put up with those sweatlords a majority of the time. and the few times i got them, i just shrugged it off and said "those people are a minority of players, the next games will go much better" - now that every single game is such a sweatfest, i am seriously considering just dropping the game. would be a shame for the 5k hours ive already put in it, but it would certainly do wonders for my mental health and attitude.
there are exactly two ways the devs could fight that:
1) stop trying to push MMR. its a stupid idea to try and push a competetive matchmaking system in a game that is everything but competetive.
2) seriously rethink their balance goals. because if what ive been getting is considered "perfectly balanced", then i can guarantee you that any killer who reaches that point is going to get tired of this game very quickly.

It's not hard for survivors to have an enjoyable experience since they've been curb-stomped for the past couple years because of the "skittle" match-making system.

my experience:
KILLER: like during the last test, extremely sweaty, when i win it was very close and hard (which is ok i guess but also tiring after 2,3 matches), most of the time i get my hooks but only 0-2 kills. When i get stomped for 2 matches in a row i get an easy one where i dominate, then the circle continues... i don't see myself playing very often when this is my general experience with my mains
SURVIVOR: played with friends yesterday, extremely sweaty (compared to last test), 6k hours huntress who tunneled me out at 4 gens was my first match, we won some but most games were against unfun add ons or unfun perk setups and killers who hard-tunneled and proxy camped. Well, can't blame them, they probably didnt had a good time most of the matches. Solo was better (my friends MMR is probably higher than mine), generally more chill, teammates were ok, won some lost some.
I still don't think MMR is a good idea. I think some of the fascination for this game lies in the unpredictability. If everyone plays this game like a sport i see a lot of the more casual players leaving.

The problem is that casual and having fun while winning are contradictory in pvp games where two sides are set against each other. Either you try to win or play casual and don't care. Even games like Fall guys or battle Royal are like that, you can try to win and get invested in trying hard or play casual and not really care.
Even in games like league of legends were there are separate queues for ranked and "casual"/normals, you can't control how any of the other players want to play.

Only way to "settle in" is to keep playing and losing. It sucks, but the system simply thinks that your skill level is to high.

Well their balance goals are far off. I mean, just look at the "2 kills, 2 escapes" balance they aim for. Thats a depip for any red rank killer.
Thats also probably why they want to introduce this whole SBMMR. Because they see that their rank system doesn´t work at all.
In the end, the SBMMR will just be to the normal MMR what the Dedicated Servers are to the original P2P connection we had.
