I'm I the only one that want a original chapter?
I like licensed chapters but I much rather perfer original chapters instead. I guess it's because I like the story and want them to expand more on the lore. Its where they are really creative.
I just hope this chapter is original. Am I the only one?

They are usually more interesting but I'm happy with anything we get, but I was kinda hoping for a licensed chapter because the chances were higher of getting a map alongside it.

Original Chapters are way better than licensed Chapters. The Devs are very creative and a Killer like Nemesis or Pyramid Head dont come close to the creativity you see on Killers like Blight, Twins or Deathslinger.

Personally I don't really care what it is, but you'd think it would be an original chapter since we just got Resident Evil, but most people are speculating that it's a licensed chapter. I haven't been paying attention to the tweets and hints that Bhvr has been giving so maybe I'm missing something, but what makes everyone so sure that this next chapter is going to be licensed anyways?

You're not the only one, no. The devs probably don't realize this (very common for artists to underrate their own work), but their original killers always have amazing designs and interesting backstories and powers.
That said, it's a different kind of thrill when you get a killer from a well-known franchise that you like.

No, I prefer original chapters to be frank, but it's only because the one license I have interest for in the horror genre is Silent Hill.

I prefer original to licensed simply because you can get it with shards and if it doesn't work BHVR can adjust without having to go back to whoever they got the license from.

Although I prefer original chapters, I'm hoping for more licensed chapters because we haven't gotten much. Plus, we usually get them once a year.

I tend to prefer a lot of their older licenses like Myers and old Freddy. As a huge RE fan, Nemesis is fun, but he still doesn't really feel like Nemesis. It seems like a lot of the creativity has died or they are unsure how to incorporate new concepts into the game without making it broken or incredibly weak (like old Freddy even though he was fun); the game is also so poorly optimized that there is a good chance that if they do try new mechanics, like the zombies for Nemesis, they have to very bare-bones or risk breaking the game as a whole.
For these reasons as well as the fact that you could get them with shards, I agree I would prefer an original chapter that likely would get a little more creativity thrown behind it.

I am not talking about the implementation of the Power, even tho I agree on Blight.
Like, Twins are horrible excecuted and I hate versing them, but the idea is very creative.
Same goes for Deathslinger, his lack of counterplay is disturbing, meanwhile before his implementation you could have asked basically every DBD-player who played this game for a while if they would ever think a Killer with a gun will be implemented and the answer would be "No". This just shows how creative the Devs are, implementing a Killer with a Gun, which was basically not possible before.
And I am pretty sure there will be many more licensed Killers which have great creativitiy nobody thought about before.

In every survey they ask what license we might like to see, I have always put Hellraiser. Too bad the game has too many performance issues for me to spend money on it.

I always hope for original characters over licenses, but that does not mean I don't enjoy licensed chapters ^^

I'm hoping for an original character. I have a tendency to like them more... also I'm currently sitting on 14k shards and near max BP with little to spend it on. There's a few original killers and Survivors I don't have... but I have all the ones I want. Just on principle, I'm never getting Spirit or Plague.

I like license better. Originals are a hit or miss for me. Most of the time they're disappointing because they're not always scary.(You can add the trickster to that list.)
The twins was interesting and unique, but that should've been Chucky with someone else.

I like licensed killers slighty more, since a good chunk of them bring a new mechanic in that's fun.
But, I can understand why you thoroughly enjoy more original killers instead

To me wanting or not wanting an original or licensed chapter is just weird (other then not wanting to pay auric cells only for future skins) because its all so undefined, they have so much freedom to do with the content so often it might as well be original, its just all so open so it makes little sense to me to pre-emptively want one over the other.

I like both, licensed chapters are cool because, well idk man it's just cool to see Pyramid Head and Nemesis in a game I like, and original chapters have much more leeway for power design and more chances for the people who do the visual designs to shine.

Yes, I got sick for every licensed get announced, people always say pinhead, pennywise, candyman, springtrap non stop and it makes me bored and finally thought don't wanna those 4 come to DBD

Yeah I'm aware. I don't like licensed chapters so one every year isn't the end of the world for me. Getting 2 in a row is a bit much for me.

I love the original characters but I’ve always wanted Pinhead in DBD. After him, I hope they’re all original.

I honestly don't look forward to original killers, cause usually they come out weird. Its hit or miss with their original designs. You got blight...who gameplay wise is pretty ingenious. But then his aesthetic would make a pretty boring horror movie. Then you got the cowboy, pretty scary aesthetic, pretty cool power. Then you got twins, great power idea, but if it was ever a movie it'd end up straight out of some weird sci fi fantasy. Then you have the Kpop star....who's power is uninspired, and doesn't even look like he belongs anywhere near the horror genre.
Always hit or miss. With the licensed chapters, they have so many expectations, I think it forces them to try harder on those than the originals.

I honestly would love to see an original killer come out at some point again this year. I feel as if all the licensed killers have been pretty bad with the exception of Myers and Pig on release. Which had to have been changed and nerfed as other licensed killers have been changed in some way or form. But everything after those two seemed to have been pretty bad overall. Then again can't really say much since they have x amount of time to complete them.
Then again, Pyramid head was a pretty good licensed killer. I rather see more original content than from another franchise.

I kinda do kinda don't. Original killers have much more freedom for ideas but there is almost always something wrong with them. Either they're gameplay is really bad or their design isn't good, and sometimes they're fine but then they nerf or buff them. this isn't necessarily a original killer thing, but with license you at least get happy that you see a character you like get in.

Two licenses in a row is something that hasn't happened since freddy/pig, right? I was kinda hoping for original content but oh well. Just please let the killer have a fun power.

I don't really care as long as the power is good, fun, and unique. It is pretty cool to see a character I'm familiar with elsewhere make an entrance into dbd, but an original character can be just as cool once you get to know them

I’d be cool with an original chapter. I just want an interesting killer. A survivor with useful perks would also be nice.

I really want to see a Curse of Strahd Wizards of the Coast license.
After that, I'd prefer everything else to be original content. It's a bit mind boggling that they haven't introduced a vampire lord yet, to be honest. I'm hoping it is because they've been negotiating a contract. Dracula is under public domain, so they have almost no excuse not to bring him into the fold.
There are a ton of classic horror monsters they could bring into the game without licensing deals, and in some ways I'm a bit disappointed to see they're not making it happen. The Frankenstein Monster, the Phantom of the Opera (chase music would be epic), the Mummy, Wolfman (or just a werewolf), etc.
