Does this constitute as targeted harassment?

See, there we go, thanks, but now I just need a dev to confirm this as being their ruling as well.

Physical disability would mean you are not allowed to target someone over their character wearing glasses.

However you could still target someone over wearing a set outfit just because you dont think those should exist and want to punish those that support this system by buying set outfits, just an example.

This stuff is always troubling because, at the end of the day, this is someone's opinion (but one most of us wouldn't condone), which both means that someone feels this way in public and deems their beliefs necessary, which are two totally untrue concepts. But yeah, I'm sure you can successfully report this for communications abuse regardless. Maybe not 'targeted harassment'; that seems problematic for reporting standards somehow, and I'm sure it wouldn't be investigated properly, but you can definitely pin this person for abuse.

You're unlikely to get any kind of confirmation from a Mod/Dev. Harassment is generally looked at as a case by case thing and as such they won't give you any defined rules of what is and isn't harassment lest people start to abuse the in-between.

I get that but likewise its rather weird to be punished for something undefined, how are you suppose to know you are not allowed to do something?

The entire law system is defined, it has to be, this leads to people seeking loopholes that sometimes get fixed with new rules but still, it is needed that people know the rules if you want to be able to fairly punish them for violating the rules.

Certainly constitutes to the fact that people are too sensitive in modern day to a sad degree.

If you're really worried then just don't mention your reasons. Tunnel people however you like and just don't say why and you'll avoid being punished. It's almost impossible to to get people on harassment unless they admit it first since it requires multiple games and very specific targeting.

Also, it's only a video game and not much more is going to go into making a Declaration of Rules covering the do's and don'ts of every possible scenario.

Excuse me, your assumption of what other people mean I find to be really offensive to the LGBT community (or whatever community you prefer), as a ex gay husband (wife works here too), how dare you assume the word gay is bad. People should take it, and be happy they are called it, to really embrace same gender marriage in they're hearts.

Absolutely agree. People are gay, get over it. If you're harassing someone because they're gay, then you're probably either 12 or your need therapy.

Yeah I get that ,but then we go back alllll they way to the start of all of this, do whatever you want just dont mention why you did it the way you did it and its fine.

Though then we get into another layer of problems because survivors technically can bait a reaction out of you and you might react just to spite them with a remark that they will then report you for and get you banned even though you did nothing wrong but get annoyed with toxic survivors....

Yes, I'd love to be called 'gay' (or 'bi', in this case, but either way) in a good way.

    However.

Even in this day and age, people (namely homophobes) still use 'gay' as a slur or insult, whether it is received that way by the other person (whether or not they are in fact LGBT) is different. The homophobe is still using it in an attempt to harm you emotionally/mentally/etc. That much cannot be denied. Yes, I would love for everybody that was talked down on that way to be able to go, "yeah, I'm LGBT, and?" but it's not the case. :(

Side note: I've never heard 'gay = annoying' in any way or at any time. Obviously, however many years ago, it was simply a way to say 'ecstatic' or 'overly joyous'. Never have I heard 'annoying'...

I've heard it as anything that's negative. Annoying, bad, uncool...

Fair... Guess my brain was outside for that post.

TLDR, it could mean any number of things, but it's still being used as an insult.

Oh, for sure. Especially among gamers. I hear it ALL the time in game chats, streams, etc.

If you say something inappropriate because someone else is baiting you then that's 100% on you. You can always minimize chat or just leave right away. Honestly, if you're concerned something you're about to say may be considered harassment then I really wouldn't chance saying it.

It's no different then IRL really. If someone is egging you on it's up to the person in question to not to slip into their teenage days and call them a [BAD WORD] [BAD WORD] [BAD WORD] lest they get a group gasp and then they're canceled on Twitter.

I'm making light of the situation but it's really not that complicated. If you're doing something bad then simply don't say why and enjoy doing the bad thing. If you're getting egged on and have a short temper that might cause you to say something stupid in the moment then don't let yourself see it in the first place by minimizing chat or leaving right away. It's up to the individual to take proper action to make sure they don't fall into a bad place when they know they might falter.

Kind of like if you're a recovering alcoholic you probably shouldn't hang out in bars. Not the best example but I hope you get what I'm trying to say.

I mean if he was just being sarcastic then no he won't get banned, being a smart ass isn't enough to be banned despite what some people would tell you. Also no offense but people really need to stop letting this crap bother them, as long as it does they will continue to do it.

In this specific case, there is an admission from the person who did it - so yes, this can be considered targeted harassment as they admit to do it due to someone's name/orientation/other factors (as they did admit to it due to the person being supposedly gay). It is important to always report in such cases and send further information to support.
