So it seems that fake farming is the new “mind game”
It’s never happened to me before, but now I’ve experienced it 3 times this week. The killer is friendly. He nods, he spins, he swipes at the air - gives all indications that he wants to farm.
Survivors all crawl out of the woodwork and take hits - lots of points for killer. We start healing up, but never get to finish because he suddenly decides to down everyone. Seems within reason until the 3rd and 4th survivors go down. Long story short, we all die on 1st hook, depip, and get very few points. Killer runs around acting like a jack-donkey while we die.
Why does it seem that this is becoming a trend?

I'm a killer main and I never trust the killer as a survivor you never know what they have planned

It happens now and then. I have not seen it a lot this week like you have but hopefully it was just a streak of bad luck.

The one time I've done this myself was against an old OoO user. I'm not one to revel in others' salt but God did I need to rehydrate after that one.
Jokes aside, you can never truly trust a killer to keep up their end of a bargain that was never truly agreed upon in the first place.

This is why you must work on gens before deciding to farm. Everything truly is not what it seems.

This is one of several reasons why I just don’t farm. The number of naive survivors that trust a “farming” Bubba alarms me.

I don’t care how other people choose to play the game, if they wanna be a nice and try to farm cool. Wanna sweat or use cheap tactics to win? I’m really not offended. Buuuut.. I think pretending to be nice like this in order to 4K is borderline sociopathic.

I’d get them to farm on pallets as proof first

Usually if I suspect it I destroy totems because people usually fake farm with noed

There's a reason why even when your farming you usually do most generators especially when the killer is doing pallet stuns/breaking as the map resources are actively disappearing.
Mind you I have never had a killer fake farm me but at the same time thought I do usually co-op generators quickly in those games to max out objective.

When the killer "farms" I always stay back and just do gens.

I had a 3 stack randomly indicate they wanted to farm with me while I was on Leatherface. I found it extremely odd they trusted me too. The only one that didn't was the rank 1 in the lobby, but after he did a few gens, he joined in on the "fun."
I let them all go. It was Lery's. My heart sank when the map loaded in and I didn't really want to play anyway. So it was the one time I farmed with no disconnects.

tbh that's hilarious and I will probably try it myself to see if it works.

I just play as I would normally regardless of the gestures the killer tries to make to indicate farming. Not only do I find farming games boring in general, but I just wouldn't trust the opponent to act in good faith in the first place.

Nothing new about it, just new to you I guess. They used to bring an ivory mori as well...friendly killers don't bring moris.

If a killer attempts to initiate farm I always stand back and do gens / other objectives. You don't want to just let them hit and down all of you straight away it's a really bad idea. Save that for last because even if they do decide to 4k everyone at the end at least everyone will have gotten to farm a lot in other categories before that happens plus if I do gens and they come over I point at the Gen for them to hit it and farm Destruction points. If they hit me instead I will run away because I don't trust them if they're just trying to down everyone. That's not how farming works lol
I know that killers aren't entitled to be nice to survivors or farm if they want to but if a killer initiates farming and decides to do this this is the scummiest thing possible. Survivors aready have a hard enough time getting BP as opposed to killers.

This has been a fun thread to read! Seems that the general consensus is “don’t trust the killer”, and I can respect that. However, when my teammates all start taking “farming” hits, I’m now left with the option of joining in and hoping for the best, or working all 5 gens alone.....uuuuuugghh.

I'm happy this is happening. I'm so sick of farmers. I just want to play the game ffs.

Reason 515 why I won't farm.
Go do gens and get out!

Happened to me once.
Ghostface made it seem like he wanted me to pick up the girl he just downed-- I, foolishly, trusted him and tried to heal her, only to get a stab.
I managed to get away and get out, thankfully. He even admitted postgame that he was just trying to trick me into getting close enough to hit.
It's kind of mental.

I'm not a fan of farming anyway, and this killer tactic actually fits in well with the villain aesthetic of the killer! Never tried it, but have to applaud anyone who utilises this for their nefarious scheme.
As survivor, I've seen this happen once, and my reluctance to have anything to do with it was what saved my skin and got the hatch escape.

I haven't had it happen to me, yet, but I always make sure to have Inner Strength ready for a quick heal and sneak away to do the rest of the totems just in case the killer is baiting us, in hopes to down us with NoEd. If my teammates are stupid enough to pop the last gen with no worries, I will leave them all to die.

It's been a thing for awhile unfortunately. It's why as survivor I'm hesitant to farm with any killers and why as killer I don't fault survivors for not wanting to farm.

Just don't bother farming with killers at all if they keep trying this. Plus its extremely boring anyways, I'd much rather just get out.

Not new. Happens a lot during BP events.

Had this happen to me a few days ago except 3 of us made it out because we figured out what he was trying to do. He was terrible at playing... I completely understand why he tried that trick, lol.

Im not bothered by it. I'd rather take the chance of having a fun memey match with 4 other people being silly than refuse to farm under the slight chance the killer might betray us.
0 -
I'm more willing after we get gens done and only allow two at a time to avoid that scenario. It's always a tough call bc if you refuse to farm, you may get tunneled especially if the other three survivors are willing.

It's the risk you take when you farm, isn't it?
You may get some easy BP right then, but you run the risk of being lured into something else.
My advice, if you care about surviving, is to just never fully trust them and get some BP in other categories first.
Other Survivors probably have the same idea or may not even know farming is going on and will just blast through Generators.

you’d be surprised

Especially when it's Leatherface

Yeah.... this is why I never trust a "friendly" or "farming" killer anymore. I just leave now when the exit gates are open. And I just don't like farming anymore. I'm playing the game to legitimately play, not play the mobile game Farmville. I'll give the killer a kill if I detect they're a baby and got heavily stomped in the game but I don't do farming anymore.
