Imagine if/when they get the license back
Imagine if sooner or later they "suddenly" get the license back after people spend SO MUCH MONEY on these cosmetics that were said to soon be unavailable.

There’s nothing saying they will reacquire the license.
I’m also pretty damn sure that, if they do, the vast majority will be happy to see it not going after all.

well, even if they did that, it'd be a win no matter what, we get to keep one of the BEST chapters in the game, AND we get the characters on a 50% sale.

They would make a lot, but if that was the plan only the characters would be on sale and not the cosmetics.
Also companies generally don't want to confirm negative announcements like this unless they have to.

Exactly BUT there is also nothing saying they wont, remember the whole "we dont ban for glitch-mixing cosmetics" and then after people, happily knowing its allowed, bought so many cosmetics for serious cash....they lock that option.....
Just saying, not the best most consumer oriented track record so far.
good to see you are in support of it, I look forward to a future that you condone where they pull this on all their licensed stuff, get a license, get a ton of cosmetics for 15 dollar each, claim to lose the license, watch people pay 100 dollars just to get the cosmetics before they are gone, then after a month just bring the license back and be thanked for it......

Guess you'll have to make a choice then.
- Buy them now and risk spending lots of money for nothing.
- Suspect it'll be back later and not buy them now, but risk being wrong and losing out on soon-to-be exclusive cosmetics.

I would imagine if they do get the license back, it would take about 2-12 months to actually port it back into the game again in my opinion.

based on what?
I mean technically the only thing that will happen is that it will be no longer accessible via the store and a map will be disabled, like they do all the time to fix their many bugs so technically everything is still in the game and can be returned with the flick of a switch.
