Upon starting the box to end the hunts it immediately ends the hunt and not after

i think it probably is. You can't teleport and be able to stop it. And as survivor the same thing happened to me but i had to stop solving it, but it stopped the chain hunt anyways.

No this seems intentional.
If we look at the power it says "The hunt ends when a survivor picks up the Lament Configuration". Picks up, not solves.

That has to be a look over
other wise there would be no point in solving it you pick it up being into your gen drop it to avoid oblvisous and puxk it up again to stop it

To drop it the box must be solved, according to the power description. They'd have to solve it.

Hmm the old victor issue again just hold on to it but this one still lets you do gens

So you pick it up, end the hunt, but you still need to solve it unless you want to have your item slot occupied by the box.

The chains will be summoned while holding the box so there's a big downside to it. Plus I believe the timer for the hunt resets while holding it so it is a ticking timer. Holding it still has the benefit of Pinhead not being able to pick it up but your at a heavy disadvantage while holding it and your team will get another hunt on them later on if you don't solve it and find it again.
