Is the entity weak to light?
One thing I've noticed is that there's a lot of things to suggest the entity is weak to light, such as the killers that were given gifts by the entity (wraith, hag, nurse, spirit) All have some major weakness to flashlights, and usually pertaining to the ability given to them by the entity. Wraith is stunned by flashlights while invisible, blinding nurse while she is charging a blink fatigues her, flashlights destroy the hags traps, (and although this was a bug) you could instantly blind spirit with flashlights. Also, since the red stain appears to be from the entity watching the match play out through the killers eyes, (that would also explain the weird black border around your screen while playing killer) that would be why flashlights stun killers so much, causing them to drop bodies as if they were hurt, because you are shining a light on the entity itself. This is also why generators would open the exit gates, the light weakens the entity enough that you can escape, at least from that trial. Would this would also be why after you've completed a few the hatch can open? I remember the devs saying somewhere the hatch wasn't made by the entity, so maybe by completing generators you produce enough light to weaken the entity enough to where it can't stop the hatch from appearing?

Do you know those lights when you enter the basement? That's the Entity. She's not weak to light. The generators are just Her way of keeping the Survivors hopeful, make them believe that they can escape, so that She may feed on their hope.

You have it wrong - Killers who can access the Spirit World are weak to light. The Hag's traps are old magic she learned before she became a Killer; they're not related to the Entity.

based on that all the game occurs during night and the game is literally called dead by daylight:
yes.
im 100% sure that if there will ever be a video or sth similar to end the dbd lore, it will be a huge and beautiful sunrise, shining over the maps, ending the survivors suffering and maybe - yeah just maybe - destroying the entitiy1 -
If you play the killer tutorial once all generators are complete it says
"NO, DON'T LET THE LIGHT IN, STOP THEM" (or smting like that)
Looks like the entity does have something against light1 -

Or instead as the sun rises, the sky fills with a sickly red flame. A darkened disk where the sun used to be rises over head. Howls and wailing of the countless souls sacrificed to the darkness can be hear shrieking in the cosmos. In that moment, at the height of the survivors despair, the blackened claws of the entity wriggles out of the black hole over head, its unseen face exposed just for a second to rend the mind of the survivor and send them into the pits of madness. In that last moment it consumes all of this pocket of hell. For darkness, darkness is eternal.

I was also thinking of the map add on that shines a ray of light only the survivor's can see. May the light protect us.1

honestly, i dont think this would be a good ending for the lore and story because of multiple points.
first, giving the entity a "face" would not fit to its lore. second, letting the survs suffer is in my opinion a bad move - they could have been free after the sun destroys the entity or sth similar0 -

Either way, I dont think this is an experience that the survivors can just put behind them, they should suffer from some kind of PTSD, like most good survival horror sequels.

Anyways, just because the French name for Entity was female, it doesn't mean Entity doesn't have a gender. "Entite" sounds like the word Entity, hence why it may have been picked.

Entity is not a goddess. THEY are a malevolent being for sure. Who may or may not be fully sapient. Don't honor them with the "goddess" label. Hell, Entity is more of a "it" if anything else.
They/it are a monster who wants to consume our world and does not care at all for anyone who gets involved in its games. You could even say they are a Lovecraftian monster.
I also have no idea what you've smoked when you say "everyone's goddess". None of the Survivors know about the Entity. Killers don't know much either.
If you are referring to offerings, which might not make sense Survivor-side because Baker knows little about the Entity and he's one of the oldest Survivors, then you could be offering them to a malevolent being, not a benevolent angel.
Please escape this Lovecraftian fetish you have. It is very concerning.

The Entity rules over Her Realm (yes, I'm capitalising it just to spite your stuck-up behind) and all beings trapped within. Technically speaking, She is at the very least equivalent to being their Goddess.
And regarding the gender issue: the devs are for the most part French Canadian. French does not have a neutral form of nouns, everything is either male or female in terms of their linguistic gender. 'Entité' is a female noun and the devs have used the English pronoun 'she' multiple times when referring to the Entity on stream.

I'm serious about one thing: the Entity meets the requirements for a godlike being. She has power over life and death (literally prevents it for the Survivors), has seemingly unlimited reality-warping powers within Her realm (hell, most of the realm is made of Her), has existed seemingly forever, is immortal, and can even bend space-time.
Maybe you're expecting gods to be benevolent, but that's not a requirement. Never has been.EDIT: By the way, the lore only makes sense if you role play. Otherwise, they're just meaningless statements.

I did know you mentioned the Entite thing. I repeated it, because your reasoning and your understanding of the French language is #########.
The devs didn't pick Entity because it "sounded like 'Entité'". They picked the word because it literally is the English translation of the French word.
And no, I'm not proving you right, in fact, I'm proving you wrong. The French name for the Entity, which is the original name, is female, and is what led the devs to call the Entity a 'She/Her' when they spoke of her in English. Pronouns tend to carry over and I'd say that ultimately, the devs' mother tongue gets to decide what is correct.
Currently, it's not my job to find you proof. You made the original claim for her not being a woman and it's still on you to prove that with evidence. I stand in for the official statement/the general consensus and you are the one challenging that: prove me, that the Entity is not female.
Also, apparently your definition of a god is that they must be benevolent (as you keep pointing out that the Entity is a monster). If you think that the Christian god is exclusively benevolent or actually even benevolent in the first case, then you do need to catch up on your bible studies.

Anyways, just because the French name for Entity was female, it doesn't mean Entity doesn't have a gender. "Entite" sounds like the word Entity, hence why it may have been picked.
Well, She is the goddess of the Fog. In-game, She is everyone's goddess.
So, you are religious? Are you a member of a Entity cult or something?
It's called "role playing". Look it up and calm the [BAD WORD] down.
Ah, but this is a question regarding official lore. Take your role playing elsewhere, lest someone assume you're being serious.
I'm actually remembering dark gods in other mythos now.
Lovecraftian beings can match the requirements too, I believe.
The lore "only" makes sense if you role play?
Are you serious?
It can also "make sense" if you try to piece together the overall story. Everyone's backgrounds, Baker's entries... they are all part of a story, the backgrounds being subplots.
By your own logic, Five Nights at Freddy's lore only makes sense if you role play. (Which is 110% wrong, Scott was trying to tell a story, not make a new place for RPers like you.)

I honestly don't mind the idea of The Entity being a female. (Even though the whispers perk makes it seem like she's a male) I like the idea of having more female baddies in video games, especially one that is a spider lovecraftian being that feasts on souls.

"French does not have a neutral form of nouns, everything is either male or female in terms of their linguistic gender."
So... you're proving me right then? Because I mention this up above.
Entite, again, sounds like "Entity" when pronounced. And as for the devs using that pronoun... prove it.
And please don't tell me you're going to source the person who said "I think we're doing a pretty good job so far."... I don't think he's considered part of the devs.
Did you hop into this chain because your friend was being called out? It would explain why you didn't know I mentioned the Entite thing already.
"The devs didn't pick Entity because it "sounded like 'Entité'". They picked the word because it literally is the English translation of the French word."
It seems like they are pronounced the same. Hence where my theory came from.
And I swear I've read in this thread or the wiki that gender neutral pronouns don't exist in French. They might have picked that specific pronoun because they were planning a English release.
And... yes? Entite does sound and mean like the word Entity? I'm a bit confused.
"And no, I'm not proving you right, in fact, I'm proving you wrong. ACTUALLY Becky, what I asked you to prove was where the devs specifically used the pronoun "she" when referring to the Entity.
Orion actually indirectly made the claim that the Entity is a she as well by using "She" to refer to the Entity. So they also have that proof as well.
And TBH I think that, with me talking about gender neutral pronouns not existing (correct me if I'm wrong) in French, my original theory is intact.
Since Orion didn't, you might as well submit your own proof for Entity not being female. -shrug-
Baker uses "it" pronouns (which is so much more accurate, I don't want the Entity humanized, it lessens the fear factor) when referring to the Entity. So there's some ingame evidence.
"Also, apparently your definition of a god is that they must be benevolent (as you keep pointing out that the Entity is a monster). If you think that the Christian god is exclusively benevolent or actually even benevolent in the first case, then you do need to catch up on your bible studies."
I admit my mistake, but Entity is so evil, they align more along the lines of a monster. Calling them "god" is giving them too much respect. (And yes, I know evil gods exist. But they are respected for their powers and status nonetheless. Entity deserves nothing.)
And yeah, Christian god sends you to hell if you don't subscribe to his cult. And wants women to be submissive, even in new testament IIRC.
I go to a private Christian school, when I would still attend Bible class and not just do work at home, our programming teacher had us cite a certain verse to read and understand. I read ahead and found another verse just a few sentences down telling women to submit to their husbands.0 -

Play Danganronpa if you want female baddies. XD
And you'd have to ignore high profile titles like Marvel's Spider-Man (Silver Sable, not Big Bad but is a minor villain in main game, haven'tplayedDLCchaptersyet, don'tspoilmeplz) and Overwatch (Widowmaker, Moira, said females are also extremely good at what they do. Assassinating ((Widow was one of the world's greatest snipers)) and developing new technologies scientifically ((Moira worked for Overwatch, was considered so valuable, she got recruited to Blackwatch, and later Talon.)) to make that claim.
I want more well-written female characters. No token women/Mary Sues for NPC SJWs, please. Feels disrespectful IMO.
EDIT: DBD also has stronk womens too.
Toxic P3 Claudette: Brilliant biologist, went to prestigious university, annoying AF perks
Killer Nea: Spammed sprays like a top 500 Tracer main all over her turf, guud perks m8
Feng "D.VA" Min: Pro MLG gamer, quickscoped bars, "UMAD?" Lithe
Lawreeeeeeee Stoned: Don't want no trouble gurl, sureven as a teenager in death games for her sweet 16th, infamous Decisive Strike,
Southern Grill Livin' By The Roaddd: "IVE BEEN SINGING EVER SINCE I WAS A WEE GIRL", living by the road, knows the Fortnite dance (hopefully ((jk)))
De KILLERS:
Sally from High School: Slew entire hospital, escaped ambulance like a boss, OP Killer pls nerf
Swampy Granny: Survived cannibals with quick time events, learnt magic symbols, became MAGIC GRANNY with Xx_Ru!n_xX
Ana of Arendelle: MLG noscope sniper, forest WW2 vet, "ME NOOB KILLER"
Miss Piggy: Stoner turned badass acolyte, has Assassin's Creed dagger 'nd 100 SNEAK, KNOWS DE WAY OF TRAPS
"You killed my mother... and now... I WILL KILL YOOOOOOOOOOOOU!": No time for girly hair combing, part time jawbs for Mawm, "Omae wa mou shindeiru…"

im 100% sure that if there will ever be a video or sth similar to end the dbd lore, it will be a huge and beautiful sunrise, shining over the maps, ending the survivors suffering and maybe - yeah just maybe - destroying the entitiy
Is dead by daylight a pun meaning "You'll be dead before the dawn comes" or "The daylight will be your end"? Like who is it directed at, killer, survivor, both? Or is it just a nice title with alliteration?

Anyways, just because the French name for Entity was female, it doesn't mean Entity doesn't have a gender. "Entite" sounds like the word Entity, hence why it may have been picked.
Well, She is the goddess of the Fog. In-game, She is everyone's goddess.
So, you are religious? Are you a member of a Entity cult or something?
Vigo actually knew quite a bit about the entity but no one worshiped it that i know of but i will check the wiki and get back to you though to be sure.

''Vigo is often mentioned in descriptions and the names of Unlockables.
He was an Inventor and a Researcher. He extensively studied The Entity, especially its biological and organic aspect, alongside its Realms, to the point that he was able to create new contraptions from The Fog, both mechanical and magical.
It was potentially him who created the Black Lock as it is known that it was not created by The Entity.
It is known that he owned a Laboratory hidden somewhere in the Realms of The Entity.
It is unknown what happened to him other than that he is no longer a Survivor in the Entity's Realm.'' the dead by daylight wiki's page on Vigo.
The Killers are made to do the Entity's bidding, which is to relentlessly hunt and kill the Survivors. Many Killers do not do so willingly, although some are happy to sate their Bloodlust. Some have to be tortured over endless years to be coerced into doing what The Entity wants. The Entity is ever patient and the torture ever more severe. Eventually they all cave in and start the hunt for the Entity.
The sacrifice is essential for The Entity, with the Killers being rewarded by their master for successfully sacrificing and only the best Killers being granted the boon to slaughter Survivors on the spot.
''The Entity actively recruits its Killers by sensing their killing potential in their mortal selves, before corrupting them into committing violent or evil acts. It is possible for it to change its mind during the process of converting the human into a new Killer and choosing someone else instead if it senses greater potential in them, as happened with Rin Yamaoka and her father, the latter having originally been chosen to become a Killer.'' a part of the dbd Wiki's page on the entity about its relationship with the killers under the sub-title ''killers''.

Light severs the connection between killers and the entity. The red stain is actually the entity looking out through the killer's eyes. Read the huntress's perks.3

Do you think that... the player is the Entity then?
Were we the Entity all long...?

I think it's referring to Survivors specifically...

Well, we DO have a few Entity worshippers in this forum so...
