When the mist in the game is so bad people don't even know what it is. It's... the mist. On the map. It becomes thicker. harder to see through

or every 1 on that trail can’t see clearly?

in my experience it just makes the fog black

It's a relic of the past, when mist was actually in the game. Look up old videos of DbD. Now you have puff clouds on the floor that do nothing to alter the gameplay at all.
