Survivors holding the game hostage.
So I'm currently chilling on RPD as Nemesis at 5 gens, 1 dead survivor and a wasted 20 minutes.
The last 3 survivors have done literally nothing for the last 13 of those 20 minutes and not even my zombies can find them. If survivors can do this at this level of efficiency then there needs to be something in place. Even as I'm typing this I take a couple minutes to search around.
All 3 of the little ostriches that are too scared to take their heads out of the sand will 100% be reported after this is said and done.
And before you say "JuSt dC". I won't, I fought too hard to keep 3 gens from being done at the same time and getting 4 stacks of bbq. I'm not losing these bloodpoints.
I'll comment on this thread again once it's all over.
Edit: Hell, thy haven't even found my ruin in ALL THIS TIME.
Edit #2: Just found one of em locker hopping in the basement. Bbq showed me nothing and zombies still haven't seen them

They aren't necessarily holding the game hostage the way you think they are. I've had survivors too terrified to play on Swamp. They will hold out literally for an hour, unwilling to do a gen, waiting for someone else to die so they can get a hatch.
On RPD, they probably can't even find gens. I have 1,500 hours in this game and it took me 3-4 minutes to find a gen on Midwich the other day.
If they really aren't playing and they're intentionally holding you hostage, you probably would have already made back the BP from another game if you had just moved on ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I will probably get ban for this but just go afk or dc

Is it even possible for survivors to hold the game hostage?
I thought that could only happen when a killer body blocks the remaining survivors into a corner and prevents them from finishing the match.

If they refuse to touch gens, totems, etc, then they are holding the game hostage just as much as the killer trapping survivors in a corner. The game is not progressing, normal gameplay is not happening, and they've been doing this the last 26 minutes at this point.
They were indeed finding gens because like I said I had to fight to keep 3 from being done at the same time.

Killers can hold the game hostage that way yes, but survivors can do it as well by doing nothing and locker hopping to avoid crows. Like how I JUST NOW found one of them locker hopping in the basement.

I see what you mean. Definitely report them then.

Wasting 3 idiots' time for the price of 1 is a pretty good deal.

God, I hate ostrich survivors so much. There needs to be a mechanic besides birds that reveal survivor locations if they don’t progress the game (gens, healing, totems, unhooks) for a certain amount of time. Doesn’t have to be a ridiculously short timer… 2 minutes should be plenty.

Now imagine dealing with players like this as TEAMMATES. This is what SBMM gives me, to go against red rank 1-3 killers. I play nothing like those asshats.

Mmmmmmmi wouldn't say as much holding the game hostage. The survivor trapped in the corner by the killer can do literally nothing other than DC if the killer never decides to do anything, whilst the killer can technically find the survivors and kill them. It's just unreasonably hard to.
Still holding the game hostage and still blows though.

I just now found the last 2, 1 was locker hopping in one of the side rooms from the main hall and the last got out through a gate (Like they deserved that, did nothing for a whole hour and had the balls to teabag like he did something. Congrats, you hid and got 9,000 points, that's less than each of the other 3 who died. Not even a participation award will be given.)
And yes, I can be THIS patient.
My suggested fix for this:
After at most 5 minutes of a survivor not doing anything, crows should instantly reveal their location. To counter this they need to break a full totem (Not touch it and leave it, BREAK it), be on a generator for 20 or 30 seconds, Fully heal a survivor or rescue a survivor on hook, or enter a chase with the killer.
I feel this is as fair as it can be. Sure they can wait 4 minutes then cleanse a totem to get an extra 5 minutes, but the more survivors that are doing this then the faster the 5 totems will be gone. And for the 20 or 30 seconds on a gen, this could be enough time for the killer to patrol a map and see that a gen was worked on so they know they are near or potentially catch them in the act of doing a gen. The healing, rescuing and chase don't have to be explained given they are actually doing something that isn't hiding like a coward.

There really needs to be a sudden death added to this game.
Like after 30 minutes the Egc starting and every survivor being revealed or something. Simular to a hatch close. There really isn't a reason for a dbd match to last more then 30 minutes

Nevermind.

I hope you recorded this and reported them. We don't need people who refuse to play the game, but still queue up just to ruin everyone else's trials.

They should just make it so that if after 20 minutes of match where there still are gens, and EGC timer of lile 10 minutes starts, so in at most 30 mins the game is done

Oh trust me, I did. This is unacceptable and I hope the devs take the appropriate action

Are you planning on uploading it somewhere? I would love to see a 1.5 hour dbd game.

I wish they just added a forfeit option for me as the killer. I do not want to disconnect and lose my bloodpoints just because some loser survivor mains want hatch. I WOULD give it to them, both of them, let me open the thing myself so we can move on and I can find a real game.
Or a real afk timer would be nice, but that might be asking for too much and flip the game as too killer favored. Would hate to do that!

This happened to me as Spirit once. Two survivors last standing and they refused to do anything. I searched for them for over an HOUR. I finally found one hiding in the corner of the map - this 2 man refused to end the game probably out of spite that I was spirit to begin with but I refused to DC so I chilled on a hill and made myself something to eat, came back and they're still hiding. Game finally ended when they realized I was not going to DC. Anyone who says that isn't holding the game hostage hasn't played killer and had this happen to them. It's just as bad as a killer body blocking a survivor in to hold the game hostage.
I hope you reported them.

Except on indoor maps, that killers think are only hard for them, it can take twice as long to even find a ######### gen

I mean, the easier way is to simply block lockers+notification bubble if people have been going from locker to locker to locker without being in the killer terror radius(I mean, sometimes you gotta swap lockers for a good head-on play, or swap lockers because the killer already checked the locker next to you and is occupied checking another locker first).

First of all i’m sorry you had your time wasted by those survivors. Second I think what should happen is if survivors don’t do anything that progresses the game after 20 to 30 minutes, than the entity should make them scream and reveal their locations for 3 seconds.
This would encourage survivors to actually do their job and stop being afraid of dying in a video game.

There should be something done about this. I have never seen 3 survivors do this but often its the last 2 who hide until one is caught so they can have hatch.
Its frustrating.
I have proposed before that if survivors do not touch a gen or totem for 2 min then the killer will be granted Whispers until they are in a chase. Then it deactivates.
This would help with survivors refusing to play the match in hopes the killer DCs.

2 minutes is too short I would make it more like 10 minutes.
0 -
10 is way too long. That is whole other match. Let's meet in the middle and say 5 min.
5 min, no chests opened, no totems cleansed, no gens touched. If survivors are doing nothing but locker hopping for 5 min then something should be done to help move the game forward ^^
1 -
I could get on board with that.

I had the exact situation on Swamp last night. The survivors were being bulldozed badly while I was playing Nemesis, and one decided to just nope out and suicide hook. The remaining 3 then decided to hide at 5 gens. Now, I get that they were losing, and nobody likes being in a match like that, but hiding and holding a game hostage like that doesn't solve anything. They need to just take the loss, or just attempt to do a generator and get BP. They could even add a mechanic that blocks lockers to a survivor that hasn't done anything objective-wise (Heal, Save, Totem or Gen) for 5 minutes and then have crows appear on them, or make them scream. Something to reveal their location. This would stop them from locker hopping or my personal favourite: The hatch campers. Not only that, but when you're playing Survivor and you have these people as teammates is yet another way the game is ruined for you, since all the pressure then falls to you if you're just trying to actually play and the killer can only find you.

But there’s perks and items that help survivors find gens. Not every killer has an All Seeing add-on like Wraith. And killer perks are very limited when it comes to Aura Reading capabilities.

I love how this thread turned into story time of survivors holding this game hostage. Lmao
1 -
Had red rank survivors do this to me twice and I had to DC. I did not report them because what is the point.
It probably is against the rules but is it seen as holding the game hostage? That is when the game can't end but the killer can always find the survivors I mean they are not gone, so game can still end?
1 -
I feel you, survivors not touching gens is a pain.
I honestly believe that the game should have a timer, make it something like 15 mins, but resets when a survivor touches a gen and/or killer gets a hit and doesn't count down while a survivor is on a gen and/or survivor is on a hook.
0 -
Yes, it counts as holding the game hostage.

This is why I run doctor or whisper for this type of situation.

I will never understand the mentality of finding enjoyment in doing absolutely nothing. This is one of the reasons why I like the iron maiden perk. It exposes their location and makes them vulnerable for 30 seconds. Combine that with doctor and survivors won't be able to hide anymore.
