Behavior! Balance the Game
I have recently uninstalled this game after playing since late 2016. This game with every update seems to get worse. Sure they have more killers and survivors but other than cosmetics and the killers secondary their is no individuality to the characters(mostly survivors). You vs people on both sides using variations of the same builds. Typical killer perks: BBQ, Hex Ruin, NOED, Whispers, STBFL, Hex Undying, and Tinkerer. Typical Survivor perks: DS, Dead Hard, Spine Chill, BT, Unbreakable, Kindred. My issue is these perks are mainly used bc the other perks aren't that viable. The devs mostly change perks bc of complaints against a 3 or 4 person SWF. When what they should be doing is making different lobbies like other games do. For instance, if you are in a 3 or 4 person SWF the game will make you vs high rank killers. MMR or skill based matchmaking doesn't work with this game bc rank means nothing, and when a red rank can inv a new player in SWF it unbalances the game. Also, Behavior rewards scummy killer behavior. Face camping, tunneling, and taking the game hostage are all common occurrences in this game and the devs reward this type of "playstyle". Instead of giving the survivors who aren't SWF(which is the majority I bet) a chance by creating passive abilities or consequences to this toxic playstyle, they instead reward the killers and make it okay. What they could do is 1 of 2 things:
- After a few seconds if the killer is still within a certain distance of the hooked the survivor the progress bar stops on the hooked person.
- Make the killers aura seen if they stay within a certain distance of the hooked person almost like kindred but the survivors don't see each other.
IDK these are just ideas to do away with face campers. I mean look at the powerful survivor perks like DS, it has a timer and is easily countered. Dead Hard, it takes skill to time the dash. BT, the killers can either go for the saving survivor or go for a grab while they are unhooking. Looping takes skill and yet they have included breakable doors to counter or have changed the layout of the map to counter this. A skilled survivor can waste a killers time for sure but it takes alot of skill and time played in this game to get that good. For some reason the devs don't do much for survivors the way they have done for killers, at least not in my opinion. They have made bamboozle a passive perk to counter looping windows. The hitboxes for most killers are not accurate(hatchets, nurse, Freddy, and on...). Just take a step back play solo Queue and see what types of killers you vs. I guarantee you will see alot of tunneling and camping which takes the fun right out of the game. Sure T-bagging and flashlight spams are annoying but it isnt ruining your game, the killer can literally ruin someone's game if they feel like tunneling or camping someone... My last thoughts:
I would love to see a vanilla mode lobby where both the killer and survivors have no perks, items, or addons and its just skill against skill.
New ways of communicating with other survivors like proximity chat or prepared text chat for example. "going for save", "doing gen", "opening door". Or different emotes/stickers like Fortnite.
Stop letting the killer see survivors before games. They change builds based on items or turn on twitch to stream snipe. Either do this or let the survivors see the killer. Its just unfair to have it one way and not the other.
Those are my thoughts and hopefully the devs do something different than what they've been doing.

The first suggestion to deal with face camping was tried and abused to no ones surprise

Do generators. Killers camp because it works, stop feeding them kills.

What exactly did they do? Just curious.

Waving your arms while on the hook is used to tell randoms "He's near! Don't come get me"
5 -
They (Devs) have added the 'Camaraderie' (Steve's perk) to reduce the camping time. See how it works & how it is useful during the game...
They should remove the hook/kill BloodPoints earned by camping but they didn't do it (have they even tried ? I'm not convinced yet...).
It is an approved 'killer's strat' rn that many killers can use without effort, an easy way to make a kill (or to slowdown the presumed genrush ?), and that is why it is actually a common thing in some many trials...

Are you sure?
I thought it was changed to the killer left come get me.

I was unaware it was changed. Maybe we should put it in the loading screen as a tip :P
Then play with friends or bring kindred. It is possible to play survivor without running four 2nd chance perks.

The devs have stated multiple times that they view camping as a necessary evil, so no, they would likely never completely stop the timer when being camped.
I agree they need a deterrence, but not something like that,
5 -
Every time they add a deterrence the survivors complain it's OP. Look at BBQ. They even stated they made it to try to encourage killers to leave a hook and go after someone else. Then survivors complained that BBQ was getting them killed because the killer could see them. Entity forbid they equip distortion, get in a locker or do any other counter.

Face camping was removed with the introduction of swivel hooks. Survivors can unhook from every angle. Before this change, survivors had no chance of unhooking, because the prompt to unhook simply didn't appear.
Fun fact: while survivors can unhook from every angle, killers still only hook from the same angle which often gets abused by survivors that body block the hook.

Perkless lobbies aren't "skill against skill" they're more "are the survivors in vc or no?"
And you would really see the difference between the killers who rely on perks/addons and the killers who don't. Everyone would just run Nurse/Spirit/Oni etc. if they actually wanted to win.

You can't say to balance the game and then say MMR won't work.

I agree that survivors need more communication, but text chat doesn't fit this game well and vc has even more issues. If we can get mini icons on the survivor portraits that tell your team what you're doing as well as chase indicators for survivors other than only the obession, that would go a long way.
I also like mobile's system that allows you to see the perks of other survivors in the lobby. Not as good on mobile since once the lobby is full it goes to loading screen immediately and you can't change perks in lobby, but the main version would benefit greatly from it.
I do not agree with hiding survivors though. If you're bringing a key, you should be prepared for whatever the killer tries to do to stop you. And stream sniping has an easy solution: don't make your name a twitch url. If you want to advertise but you're afraid of being sniped, do it in lobby chat.

Basically, made it so that the timer would slowdown or stop if the killer was within a certain radius of the hook, but if a survivor and killer were within this radius the countdown would continue. No joke survivors would stay just barely outside of the hooked guys radius and because the killer usually would stay closer to the hook to prevent an unhook the timer would pause and then one of their friends completed would complete gens. I might not be a hundred percent correct on everything but that is the gist of it.
TLDR | There was brief mechanic introduced to stop face camping but survivors abused it and got it removed.

There is no doubt killers are grossly overpowered when the right perks and tactics are used and there's been too many survivor nerfs and killer buffs. Earlier I played against a Blight with Tinkerer, Undying, Devour Hope, and the famous BBQ. It was a bloodbath with no hope. Horrible experience.
There is nothing to look forward to. The next patch will feature a new overpowered killer and more killer buffs. You should keep the game uninstalled if you want to play survivor. It's a game for killers now. A 4K simulator.

Oh these responses never get old
7 -
Anything that requires survivors to do anything other than holding m1 on a gen is "OP" in their eyes. It's why you see so many NOED complaints, when NOED exists literally as a threat for survivors to take an extra minute or 2 and do some bones.
What's even funnier is that bones give them pips too

With all the changes being made to help find totems. Detective's hunch, small game now has a totem counter, IS heals you if you cleansed a totem and jump in a locker, counterforce highlights the farther-est totem, pinheads perks give you a debuff until you cleanse a totem you can see from 16 meters away. I really think the devs are secretly telling survivors to cleanse da bonez.

And yet, SWF is extremely unbalanced.
Mathematically, Survivors absolutely control this game, but most Survivors aren't that good.
Solo's need help, Killers need help but SWF's don't
2 -
I don't feel solo needs help so much as swf needs to be toned down. If you have a group of randoms that know what they are doing. You can crush the killer without headsets.
But I do agree playing solo sucks. That's why I usually play survivor when friends are on. If friends aren't on, it's killer.

If SWF is the only way to play this game, then balance around it!

Oh I play solo survivor on red ranks and quite successfully.
That being said, killers face camping doesn't bother me, because survivors can still unhook! Unlike the original face camping, where no one could unhook. Because the "hold m1 to unhook" prompt simply never appeared.

They could use the first option, but it would need some fine tuning, that is theoretically in the code already:
- The game can tell what someone's doing. So if a killer is goaded to the hook to stop the progress bar, the game can tell (theoretically) as they killer is in chase.
- if a killer however stays around the hook and just hits at survivors without a chase being initiated, the timer could stop.
- the mechanic can even take into account if a killer is moving around a hook looking for survivors and what perks are on (whispers e.g. which should finally be changed to not work on hooked survivors)
the mechanics are all there.

This game isn't killer sided, although killers have had more changes that benefit them recently doesn't mean so.
Good survivors run this game majority of the time.
I play both sides so I'm not a killer main.

Yeah, you can. Prove Thyself with Commodius plus BNP and a Key is almost certainly an easy win.
No Killer is given default Bamboozle.
Many map reworks made them BETTER for Survivors. Looking at you Gideon and Groaning Storehouse.
I'd like to be able to help you, but you aren't giving me much to go off of here.

Don't you main Nurse?

Window's were blocked because people realized that they could vault the same window over and over again at very safe loops to create an infinite. They were also made in a time were killers vaulted loops significantly slower than today. Infinite loops should also never be a thing. As for addons that "guarantee victory", the only one that comes to mind is iri hatchets and they were finally nerfed. As for survivor perks, DS was held to be busted since you could complete an objective in the killers face and suffer no consequences. Object of obsession, while not as common, broke the game in swf's with good communication. Even Dead hard could debatably fall into this category. When a killer has to take into account that a survivor MIGHT have a specific perk every game, that says something about said perk. As for solo Q, I won't argue that it doesn't suck, but that's due to a lack of ways for survivors to communicate, not that killer is OP.

What you're describing is what a killer is supposed to do in a game. Find the weakest link and kill them to make the game easier. If you as a killer realize that someone is a good looper, you SHOULD leave them. Otherwise they'll just waste you're time. In addition, you aren't supposed to be able to 1v1 the killer. The game is designed to favor killers in 1v1 and survivors in 1v4. If survivors could consistently win the 1v1, then how could a killer possible win against all 4?

Yeah I'm actually playing rn lol

1. I agree perk diversity is an issue. It's boring and annoying.
2. I love the idea of including SWFs in the SBMM calculations.
3. Killers do not get rewarded for tunnelling or camping, unless the survivors enable it. There are so many anti-tunnel perks, and if a killer just wants to camp it's an easy 3 escapes if the survivors hop on gens. There is such a thing as doing these things strategically, but there's also plenty of counters. The devs haven't balanced this game around 12-hooking either, nor do they seem to intend to. It'd be more fun though, I agree. The facecamping aura ideas sound interesting, but you're just dead wrong if you think BT or DS are easily countered
4. Survivors have absolutely seen plenty of changes. BT, Lucky Break, Pallet hit validation (literally just changed from screwing survivors to screwing killers), Freddy, Billy, Huntress, Twins all nerfed. Coldwind and Disturbed Ward size and loops should've been balanced but weren't. RPD is now the most survivor-sided map in the game...need I go on?
5. Vanilla mode sounds fun, not a bad idea
6. Voice comms should be implemented for survivors, or at the very least an improved HUD to show teammates what action you're doing (running, hiding, cleansing, repairing, etc.) with some prompts to change it (going for hook, for example)
7. Killers seeing the survivors is definitely not a problem, and it fits the lore. They're the hunter, they should see and not be seen. Killers already can't change their characters, I think that is plenty. If survivors could see the killer, any stealth killer will probably see 4 spine chills, any Twins will see 4 unbreakables, and so on. It just makes the game even less fun and less perk diverse. There's not a whole lot the killer is going to do or can do about items unless it's a key, and even then you can just hide the key in a corner.
