What can a survivor getting camped do?

So, we all know there's a lot of killers that camp and if the survivors play correctly they'll have time to do gens, but what about the person getting camped? They of course will try to use as much time as possible by not trying to unhook and hitting the skill checks, but even then, they can't virtually do anything, they will get no actual benefit unless someone sacrifices themselves to get the save, if someone actually does, and if no one goes, or if the killer decides to tunnel, they're dead.

With all that said, in this situation supposedly the killer ends up losing, because the rest of the survivors will just have completed the gens and get a faster escape, but at the end, the camped survivor will get almost no bloodpoints and probably their rank will go down, meanwhile the killer will still get a good amount of bloodpoints, maybe they'll lose their rank, but they still somewhat benefit from it compared to the survivor.

The point of this is not giving survivors another to escape or anything, it's just to actually give them something, especially knowing how tiresome can be to get enough bloodpoints for anything basically. I don't know, give the hooked survivor points for having the killer near or whatever.

You need teammates that utilize borrowed time and are willing to protect you. Very rarely do you meet killers that are quick at ending chases and sit by the hook.

Most of the time you just have to die and do nothing. You can try making a post about how to address the problem but so far when ever that happens killer mains will complain that any proposal that would stop camping is unfair becuase stopping the killer from camping is unfair

See Bubba and chainsaw or for more skilled campers just grabbing the survivor going for the save

    Why killer to do camper?

Because survivor fix gen speed so rapid

  • Markness

I've played versus bubbas that revved the chainsaw at 5 gens at a hooked survivor and only ended up getting the one. The ones that sit by the hook are usually bad.

If you can't hear the very loud growling and the shimmers in the distance then I don't know what to say! Sometimes survivors will get sacrificed, that happens! Oh no! It's a lame playstyle but do the gens and you'll escape. Again, I only see these types of bad killers around rank reset time. Good ones may or may not proxy camp/tunnel, but they still struggle versus good players.

His growling isn't particularly loud unless he's close enough to get a hit and his vague shimmer is easily obfuscated by countless obstacles and walls. I don't know any Wraith player who just runs in a straight line toward his opponent from 300 yards away.

Besides which, this is about camping. Many Wraith players love to hook someone, go invisible (which they can do silently now) and just go ten feet away around the nearest corner to camp a hook without anyone knowing that they're there.

He asked what to when being camped. Your answer

A bunch of irrelevant stuff about hearing the chainsaw which doesn't help the guy being camped followed by every killer mains response. Do nothing and die cause your being camped and camping should not not addressed

Just keep struggling, I guess? That is how they usually decide to address my Basement Bubba antics. If they just killed themselves, I would go and find another victim. But if they stay alive, I am forced to stick around if I want easy basement hooks... Which I need for the challenge. Albeit, sticking around risks your team playing a little sus and I might snowball to get the 4k off of that.

I felt bad for this rank 20. Surprised one of her friends didn't hook trade with her. And they call ME the toxic one. Smh.

You cant do much but you can support your team. Just stay alive as long as you can to not let the killer camp another person.

Never ever say a word in the end game chat. This type of persons seeks it, dont feed a troll just move along. He will be angry about that I promise

both of these are good and accurate advice, they want you to react to them, if you deny them of that you take that power they feel away.

Camping is a waste of time.

At the moment there is no specific idea maybe just fan made perks for anti camping.

I can't wait for new survivors with anti-camp perk to make for both sides a better gameplay.

Until then nothing can be done. the developers need to care and if camping can not be completely avoided, then at least give a tool to players who don't want to deal with it in their game.

camaraderie is probably about the only anti-camp perk we will get that's not already in the game. kindred etc.

If Killer is looking at Hooked Survivor & if Killer is within [VALUE] meters of Hooked Survivor, give Hooked Survivor [VALUE] Bloodpoints per second.

Sounds cool, i don't think we should mind more ways to get BP in this grind of a game.

It doesn't solve the problem. And honestly, it's a massive game design flaw.

Basically a Killer can avoid interacting with 3 of the 4 players in the beginning half of the game, while completely preventing 1 player from playing the game and win the game using an extremely low skill/extremely high reward tactic that brown and yellow ranked killers have perfected.

This game design flaw is also contributing to gen speeds being so fast. If the Killer couldn't tunnel/camping 1 player out of the game while ignoring the other 3 players, then the gen speeds could be slowed down. However, since the game has to be designed around a Killers ability to be able to tunnel/camp 1 player out of the game ignoring the other players, the gens have to be fast enough for the other 3 survivors to get to a break even point.

The devs have already stated they will never reward the camped players with bloodpoints or empblems, because "it has to be earned, not given" (c).

Pretty much this. Oh and give the rest of the team time to do gens.

You already get struggle points. Survivors on hook don’t need additional points - people should just learn to not be entitled…

”Waaaah! I’m hooked first so I’m going to kill myself on hook!”

Waaah! I'm a human being that wants to be able to enjoy a game I bought, so I should stare at the killers face for 2 minutes as another human completely prevents me from playing that game!

The killer is a role that is trying to remove other players from the game. That's just how the game is.

When you get camped take your phone and watch YouTube lmao there's really not much u can do unless teammates come in rescue and risk a match and have borrowed time etc otherwise u'll just get tunelled

  • Munqaxus
    Munqaxus Member Posts: 2,752

And Stalin was a dictator that liked to kill Russians.

Just because it's in the game does make it good. It's a low-skill tactic that highly rewards a player which is just flat out bad game design. It also prevent another player from being able to play the game, which is also bad game design.

  • Crowman
    Crowman Member Posts: 9,516

It's not bad game design that the killer role can kill survivors in a 1v4 game. The killer isn't your baby sitter making sure you enjoy yourself before putting you to bed.

If you really can't stand being forced on a hook for 2 minutes then you have the option to attempt to unhook yourself and not hit the skillchecks so you die faster.

  • Rey_512
    Rey_512 Member Posts: 1,620

Your role on hook if the killer is camping is to provide a distraction so your team can complete the generators. No, it may not be “fun”… but it’s also your fault for getting caught.

  • Munqaxus
    Munqaxus Member Posts: 2,752

Here are my two arguments that you completely strawmanned.

    1. Face Camping and Proxy Camping/Tunneling off hook is a low-skill tactic that yellow and brown rank killers master. Yet this tactic is highly rewarded even in Red Ranks. This is bad game design because the amount of skill it takes to accomplish something should correlate to the reward for pulling off that skill. So a skill you master in yellow and brown ranks shouldn't really accomplish anything as you get past green ranks because it's so easy to pull off.
    2. Face Camping and Proxy Camping/Tunneling off hook allows you to prevent a player from playing a game they bought. This is also a bad design flaw, because it's doing exactly the opposite of what you want as a game designer. It's preventing people from playing your game.
    3. And to add to my two previous arguments: The game has to be balanced around the highest skill/ability advantage. So, if a Killer is able to win the game by Face Camping and Proxy Camping/Tunneling off hook, a single survivor while completely ignoring the other 3 survivors, then gen speeds have to be fast enough to account for this. So if you wanted to play the game without Face Camping and Proxy Camping/Tunneling off hook, then you are playing a game that is adjusted for Face Camping and Proxy Camping/Tunneling off hook, which makes your strategy less viable. Basically, gen speeds are incredibly fast because this tactic is in the game. It hurts killers just as much as survivors.

Being camped, sitting at a gen, doing totems I mean that is the game. You are just doing nothing more or less. If you don't like it play killer.

  • SMitchell8
    SMitchell8 Member Posts: 3,302

You should get boldness or chase points. Flicking arms annoys the camping killer as they get paranoid that another survivor is close, often a killer will get so paranoid that they'll go have a quick look, there's the small window. Apart from that, stay on the hook to enable your teammates to gen rush.

I mean, maybe I would stick around if I got points for sticking around. The struggle bonus is not worth the time it would take to queue into a better game.

  • Munqaxus
    Munqaxus Member Posts: 2,752

I'm just worried that the developers will put a band-aid "fix" on the actual problem and not actually fix a pretty major problem with the game. Bloodpoints are always nice, but it would be too easy to give bloodpoints to a survivor for being camped and call it done.

Move your hands and make funny voices, try to kobe, kobe/deliverance into ds maybe, free kindred auras for others and... least fun, do nothing and just watch other peoples auras while they either crouch near you or do gens.

Maybe someone will trade sucessfully so you can m1 those gens which is not really much different.

I dunno but it is a part of the game. It doesn't bother me that much since it is really not that often.

  • DetailedDetriment

Unless you have Deliverance and DS, then you can do absolutely nothing.

  • Apollos

It's a crappy tactic for the person being camped. All you can do is try to get struggle points and hopefully give your teammates more time to formulate a plan. You can also force death hook by struggling if you just want to leave without any penalty.

I think earning more bloodpoints for being camped is a great solution. You're being removed from the game prematurely, so gaining more points to even it out is a fair trade. You've earned it by taking the L for every single person in the match other than yourself, regardless of what anyone (including devs) has to say.

I don't think many of you guys really get what I was trying to say, I said there shouldn't be other way to escape or anything, but the player being hooked basically doesn't kill themselves out of pure goodwill, and at the end the one getting the least bloodpoints in comparisong will be them, the killer even then will get a decent amount of bloodpoints, I'm just saying that camped players should get bloodpoints for having the killer standing there or whatever, it's already boring and lame for the survivor at least give them something, clearly not pips, but definitely bloodpoints, the title it was more than a rhetorical question than anything.

All of this is about the survivor getting camped, not about the camping itself, which is a problem for another discussion.
