Tip for playing Pinhead
When someone try’s to open the box don’t teleport unless they’re too far away. Go after them normally instead and use his chain power on them while they’re holding it. If you knock them down with the box you pick up the box and get notified of the other survivors location but even better you start a mass chain hunt. This character had a lot of map pressure potential

I appreciate that you're trying to give people tips for playing him, though. Dude's frustrating as hell with massively unbalanced risk/reward on his power.

Nah, OP has the right idea.
I've been running both addons to increase box solving time, initially it's 6 secs w no addons, 12 secs after both addons. This gives you plenty of time to get to the survivor and exactly as OP said if theyre too far away just hit them with a chain to interrupt.
I've also been running Franklins so I make sure to get the box on first hit.

Been winning most games w this playstyle.

It’s powerful in my experience and I don’t even have Franklins man he’s gonna be sick when I get that perk
