The Chatterer is the first LGBT+ Killer in DBD

Well you do understand that's illegal correct? In the civilized world anyways.

You think that stops them? You think the police force aren't biased and take little action? Or there's too much for them to cope with- take New Zealand; @MadLordJack told me about the murder rates of trans women in NZ and how very few get solved despite solving plenty of other murder cases. Wonder why.

Listening to lgbt+ people talk about homophobia? Overrated.
Make up scenarios in your head using a hypothetical perfect world and use this to debunk anyone's experience in the real world? Stonks.

I literally live in the UK studying law alongside 2 other subjects and my friend is trying to get into the police force, I know what I'm talking about.
I've reported people for common assault. With evidence. They got community service. I've reported others. Some was deemed with no proof, some got more extreme sentences, nobody got above a 2 month sentence (again maximum sentence of 6 months). I know what I'm talking about.
Unlike someone, clearly.

No no you see clearly they aren't biased because during the month of June they made one statement and turned their logo on twitter rainbow and deleted it immidiately on July 1st clewrl they love and support the community and isn't all a PR Stunt ๐ฅบ๐ฅบ๐ฅบ

This thread got a bit funny since we just had the Deliverance tome tackle down why representation matters for minority groups and there are a lot of works that speak about this issue. Whether it is a race, sexual orientation or even gender.
I'm just sometimes a bit impressed how tone deaf some people can be because they aren't subjected to discriminatory practices on the daily basis, but I believe one way or another at least some people are reading through and getting to understand the core of the issue isn't Dead By Daylight, but a more complex and intrinsic problem with society.

Like, at least BHVR did charity streams, made donations, actively supports lgbt+ (and bipoc) community members and are working with a charity actively for good representation. Most companies are just "ok June is over back to pretending you don't exist ๐ฅฐ"

Nah, I watched. You handeled this perfectly and already saved the day.

i thought i was far too aggressive ngl + they really didnt wanna listen
2 -
well maybe I didnโt read everything and some stuff was already deleted :)
but from what I have seen you made perfectly reasonable arguments and they were extremely ignorant.

I agree. As an LGBT+ person, I always have trouble putting my thoughts into coherent words because a part of me is wired to try to understand why this is an argument in the first place and then come to realise no matter how hard I try there is people always willing to go to the tangent to find a way to disagree. Nevertheless, I'm really glad to see some of you here and I feel more understood and I wish I could show more appreciation.

I am a bit... confused by the argument that a Cenobite has it's sexuality stripped from them. Are these the same people that giggled at "I came" under the assumption that a religiously passionate sense freak created by Clive Barker was making that double entendre on accident?
The Cenobites as a whole "Species" -- much like almost anything Clive Barker has written -- are overwhelmingly sexual in nature. I'd argue that every one of them counts as non-binary, with a specific definition something normal humans have no proper term for because normal humans would not be able to survive long with it. And while their memories are wiped upon "Creation", it's clear that in some way they do still work off of human urges and desires, even though the limits of how far they can do so has been massively extended. Hell, odds are one of the main reasons we can't have the Female Cenobite as a deluxe skin is that her obvious idle animation could get the game banned in some regions.

Hey Karu, I asked this rhetorically in the previous thread before it was deleted but no one responded. Maybe you'd care to? Just out of curiosity: As a gay man (I think that's what you described yourself as, forgive me if I'm mistaken), I'm wondering: How would YOU design a character that would feel appropriately represents the queer fanbase? Would it be male? Female? Trans? Would their sexuality be a major component of who they are or just a side element that's not really an integral part of the character's story?
I just got to thinking about this because so many people want LGBT representation, which is fine, but it seems that a lot of people don't even necessarily agree on what such representation would look like. I figured I'd ask someone who feels strongly about the subject for their opinion.

You have already and ill answer again using an extract from David's tome lore.
"His ex has moved on and she doesn't want to see his face."
How would I add on lgbt+ representation? "His ex has moved on and he doesn't want to see his face."
Bam.
The character of David King is almost identical- he fought back against his abusive father, was forced to work as a debt collector, has serious anger issues and is a chronic alcoholic in London ever since being thrown off the rugby team. And yet it is definitive LGBT+ representation of at least bisexuality/pansexuality.
You don't even need a clause of "He always knew he'd liked boys" which makes it specifically mlm (men loving men) rep, you can leave it open to be interpreted in whichever way you want, provided it is canon he was in a same-sex relationship and it is implied he still has feelings for the partner.
For trans representation, this I don't know much about. I'm cisgendered and won't pretend to know what I'm talking about on the subject- sorry.
There's another form of representation though, which could also be added in with very little effort needed. Instead of using the pronouns "he/him" or "she/her" to describe someone, use "they/them".
Again, I'm going to use David's lore as an example because it's the one I currently have on hand, but
"His ex has moved on and they don't want to see his face again".
There's also the version of using multiple pronouns (genderfluid) though from reading the forums half of the community would throw a tantrum instead of trying to understand.
If you would like an example of a game that does this very well, look at Apex Legends.

I think the general consensus, as I myself am an LGBT+ person, is that we want a character that's not defined by their sexuality and rather has a compelling storyline that's more than the "I'm LGBT+" line. Literally, low effort changes like the ones you listed her gives us representation to an extent because it leaves out the possibility of us making the character as we wish them to be.
The main issue we encounter in most media is the vilification of LGBT+ people. A gay character is often portrayed as unstable, jumping from relationship to relationship and being unnecessary cruel and mean to other characters, a lesbian character is often portrayed as tough, man-hating, cruel and vindictive... or they fall into what we call token stereotypes where the main woman's best friend is gay and he gives her advice, but it never goes further than that, dead lesbian who is the centre of some mystery and becomes a source of pain to straight characters. The point in general is we are more than just a stereotype to make fun of or a tragedy to mourn.

Perfectly acceptable.

Also allow me to throw in Fear Street's Sam and Deenah, as well as Sara and the Miller girl I'm sorry I forgot your first name, as more pretty good representation.

I'm not reading this entire thread, but as a huge Hellraiser fan, I can tell you Chatterer has multiple backstories. The original, Chatterer was a small boy that played with the box and the end result was him becoming Chatterer.
!!!MOVIE SPOILERS START HERE!!! - In the second Hellraiser film, when Channard defeats the Cenobites, you see Chatterer returned to his original child form.
