Console survivors fogged over by Pinhead's chain mechanic
I was running away and dropped a pallet. I stood next to the pallet to see if the killer would break it or go around. Meanwhile, I got snagged by a chain. I held Right Bumper to break it, but ended up vaulting the pallet instead (since they both require the same button) and was killed.

Thanks for that. I didn't even know us console players could do that. Finally, no more pallet, locker or window taking priority when all I want to do is heal someone.

Are you going to buy me an Elite controller so I have some extra buttons to map it to, or do I have to unbind Sprint or Crouch?

I play on regular dualshock.
Switched vaults/palletdrops to r2 and use item to l3. Dead hard r3. Everything else is the same for me.

I binded the X button to vaulting actions and such on a standard Xbox controller and that feels great.

me too. vaulting, lockers... all on square.
but...
now that you say it... maybe changing vaulting to R3 could be better.
I tend to not trust L3 and R3 for basically no reason. XD

I don't find them good either but since I am not using items much and dead hard is not that common I manage.
And I need them there because I want to move/rotate camera while I do it.
That is why I never use d pad or face buttons in this game. Except for emotes
