Do survivors want to see the same 3 killers?
Eventually the sbmm data will force the developers to buff lower tier killers. What do you think? Without variety I am sure more people will get bored with the game.
I will use trapper as an example:
Have trapper be able to carry 2 traps at base.
Apply deep wounds to an injured survivor stepping in a trap (how are they not downed seriously)
Increase his setting speed time
Take the rng out of the trap equation...they cant get out the first 3 or 4 times by themselves but it shortens the time for the next attempts.Any more after that they are released automatically.
Three qol changes and you cant say those changes make him overpowered.

Have you seen only those 3 killers already? I consider myself a decent survivor and I haven't noticed a change in variety. Maybe it's too early? Or maybe my MMR is not as high as I think, but i can't know since MMR is private...

Yes they want. It's clear they won't stop at nothing to best all the killers they can best. It's not hard at all to best most killers.

SBMMR will actually make low-tier killers, such as Trapper, viable. Instead of randomly going against SWF death-squads and getting decimated, Trapper will go against players that are in the Trappers range.
Less that 1% of survivors are going to be going against Spirit, Nurse and Blights all the time. You are talking about players that play 24/7 which is pretty much streamers or SWF Death Squads and shouldn't that be exactly who should be getting Nurse, Blights and Spirits. No one else can deal with those killers.

SBMMR actually addresses so many problems with the game that it's actually better than fixing layouts/loops/structures and Gen Speeds.
- Low Tier Killers - Now all viable.
- SWF Death Squads - Now go against high tier killers that can deal with them.
- Nurse, Spirit and Blight - Now those Killers face opponents that can play against them instead of being insta-slugged
- Gen Speeds - You have problems with Gen Speeds, now you won't because you are going against survivors that are you level.
- Having Problems with Survivors Looping you - Now you will go against survivors that loop at your level
Literally every complaint you have is now fixed and it's an amazing eloquent fix.

Absolutely not

As a survivor? No, but when i play survivor i also play meme builds almost exclusively (mettle of man, breakout etc.), unless i'm doing some specific rift challenge. I still manage to pip in almost every game though excluding the ones where i just get facecamped from the beginning. My guess is SBMM weights escapes more than pips, so i'm guessing my survivor MMR is lower.
As a killer? If i'm not playing nurse or blight (i don't really play spirit) i'm lucky to get 3-4 hooks before all gens get done because it is SWF sweat squad after sweat squad. The weirdest thing is how the matchmaking is working for me.
I get a game where i 4k extremely easily at 5 gens done, people who barely know how to even drop a pallet.
The next game i get SWF sweat squads who act like this game is their job.
The next game is megheads
Rinse and repeat.

I mean when you reach the higher levels...the way it is set up if you get a high sbmm you will only get high sbmm killers correct?
You really think you will see anything other than nurse, blight, and spirit...maybe a deathslinger or huntress possibly
1 -
They won't buff lower tier killers, they'll just nerf higher tier ones.
3 -
It sucks for a low tier killer main not being able to rise above a certain level so yeah buffs are still necessary.
Gen speeds will always be a problem at any level until map sizes are fixed.
I do agree with your other points though🙂

Yeah it basically is stomp or get stomped from what I have played...moved on to a barely played hag.
I get to use the trappers mindgames and just add a make your choice improvement.

Well I want SBMM but I dont want it super strict. Reason I wanted SBMM is due to me getting red rank teams against a good rank 1 killer but they dont do gens or chases.
I dont want an easy win in any match, hell I'm happy dying every trial but I dont wanna be the only one doing gens and chases while the others farm hooks and hide etc.
I do think most killers need changes, especially in their addons, I dont get why roughly 50% of addons are pointless and just not good

At this point, if they don't do some major balance changes in the midchapter, i'm either going to derank, or just quit.

This is how it should work and how I hope it ends up working, but they calculate MMR differently between killers. For example the last MMR test there were problems because Billy was getting an MMR much higher than he should so ultra sweaty 4 man squads were facing against baby Billys.

I died 5 or 7 matches today (because not skilled enough), but no match was tunnel or camping. 2 Trickster, Bubba, Nemesis, Legion, Pinhead, Trapper.
The most important is there was no Wraith. Before SBMM, it faced Wraith 5/6 matches and most tunneling.
Im content with recent games.

The problem with buffing Killers so they are all Nurses is that they lose what makes them unique. I personally don't want Trapper to be as good as Nurse. Think of all the things you would have to change to make him as viable as Nurse. Trapper would completely loose his identity. Plus, you are never going to know what level you are playing a low-tier killer at. You will only know that you had a fun game or not.

Bhvr needs data to see killers that aren't blight nurse or spirit struggle with higher sbmm before they buff them🙄
0 -
I think it's going to stay this way...try another killer is the best advice I can give you🤔
0 -
Not asking for nurse level upgrades...did another thread on this but
Trapper base carrying capacity is 2 (without addons)
injured survivors stepping on traps are downed
make 1st 3 attempts from traps invalid but it speeds up the process to 4th attempt and survivor escapes immediately
Increase base setting speed
Make traps no longer spawn ar edges of the map
Easy qol changes and none of them make trapper overpowered
Small changes like that to every killer so they don't hit an early glass ceiling either sbmm
1 -
Like i said, i play them all, its all the same, even on pinhead who just came out.
0 -
Sorry man I feel your pain...I gave up my main killer because I dont want to get stomped for a couple hours straight while sbmm places me and the killer queues are ridiculous already.
I moved on to the killers that I hardly play and when they reach that sbmm ceiling back 4 blood will be out as will the new evil dead game and the vhs game.
If they fix it I bet you it will either be in a month or not at all.

Not every killer should be designed to handle a SWF sweaty team. That is not a fun way to play. Trapper doesn't need buffed because he ends looping instantly and during a chase there is no counterplay. More traps would be horrendous.
0 -
If Trapper traps a loop you could oh you know....run to another loop.....the traps aren't infinite.
2 -
Are you saying trapper is OP?🤣 to stop the loop in chase he has to have atrap on him and still set it up slowly while the survivor runs to the next loop.
Trapper has to think ahead and stop loops before he chases.
Sluzzy I have to know what killers do you play?
1 -
Just nerf Nurse, Spirit and Blight. Way easier than buffing everyone.
1 -
No. That's why I'm the chill martyr and not the sweaty clicky.
0 -
Faced the same three killers for over a year without sbmm, teammate 1, 2 and 3. My new teammates are just amazing in comparison. Thank you bhvr the difference is night and day.

Low mobility killers will always be inherently worse than high mobility killers. At the top level of play, it's all about effective map pressure, being in four places at once, and only the fast killers can do that well enough.
Low mobility killers can't just be buffed to be viable at that level without either completely reworking their power to give some form of speed boost or teleport, or by making them so OP they dominate at a lower level.
SBMM as a tool to sort killers into their respective skill levels really is the best solution to make all killers viable.
And if that means the top 1% of survivors mostly face Nurse, Blight, Spirit and Wraith... so be it. If you're striving to be the best survivor, don't you want the challenge? Or do you just want to bully a killer who can never stand a chance against you?
0 -
Or remove full option to swf. Duo only in ranked, kyf 4 mans.
0 -
Then less people would play higher grades because no killer could handle a good team.
We would be in the same situation as the ranking system where green rank and purple rank killers were being placed with red ranks when there weren't killers available 🤔
0 -
I am more of a killer main to be honest it doesn't matter as much to me...I would just be bored with the same three killers every match and play something else. 🤣
Trying to help survivor mains...the more killers available the less your lobby cues are right?
0 -
I feel that would kill the game...from a business standpoint(cosmetics) and a game standpoint (they might leave and play another game causing a void in matchmaking).
Solo got buffed with sbmm now if they take that data they can make changes that benefit killers in theory( gen speed or smaller maps or buffing lower tiers).

BHVR did fix the actual issues with SBMMR. Just because it's not the fix you want, doesn't mean it doesn't fix the issues.
0 -
But blight doesn't need nerfs
0 -
How does it not fix the games balancing issues.
SWFs Death Squads will face Killers more suited to that level of play such as Nurse, Blights and Spirits. Killers like Trapper, who I love playing but know he's not Nurse level, are now also viable because he is pitted against survivors more suited to his abilities. (Yes, Trapper will be put against survivors less skilled than the survivors that can handle Nurse, but that doesn't make those survivors "baby" survivors. It probably will mean that Trapper will face medium-high survivors at his max level of play compared to Nurse who can go against high-level survivors).
If you buffed Trapper to the same level as Nurse, Trapper is going to loose a lot of what makes him Trapper.
For example, one thing you would need to change about Trapper is giving him a big movement boost, but that means making his traps mostly useless because now he can just go around M1ing survivors which would be much more efficient than trying to trap survivors.
If you are a player having issues with gen speeds, well now you will be put against survivors that aren't as good at doing gens as fast.
I'm not trying to dismiss what you are trying to say, but I am trying to understand why you don't think this fixes a massive amount of balancing issues without completely destroying the high tier killers with nerfs or destroying the low tier killers with buffs?
0 -
Can you imagine placebo tablet being base kit🤣
0 -
exactly
0 -
While I agree with what you said, it also goes the other way round: those killers are the only ones able to deal with SWF death squads. It's a vicious circle.
0 -
I see so many different killers.
Past few days I've seen
Plague, Pig, Pyramidhead, Blight, Spirit, Trapper, Oni, Legion, Myers, Huntress (a ton), Trickster, Clown, Bubba, Demo, Pinhead, Nemesis etc.
The only killers I havent seen for the past week are - Twins, Hag and Nurse.
I'm rank 3 Survivor atm.
0 -
No but no devs balance for the top 1% most killers can easily beat 50%+ of the player base if played right. The point is their old ranking was so bad there was red ranks that cant last 2 seconds in a chase, cant look behind them and have no understanding of the game, you cant balance around that data lol. Most killers need buffs sure, but how much is hard to say until its actually with good data.
But I still think killers isnt the biggest issue, map size, survivors spawning/early game. Default kick/gen regression is 4x worse than a survivor, god pallets/loops... these are base game features that cause huge issues for the lesser killers
0 -
Content Creators went on a propaganda binge and got everyone thinking they're only going to see Nurse, Spirit and Blight when in reality, probably less that 1% of survivors will ever get to that high of an MMR.
All the killers are viable against non-SWFs at high levels of play. All killers are viable against regular SWFs at high levels of play.
Most killers are not viable against SWFs that are in the top 1%. However, why should BHVR cater to that demographic and ruin the game for the rest of the 99% of players.
2 -
At the costs of high end teams?
Sign me in.
0 -
3 is the old green rank right?
0 -
Can you imagine them actually taking the time to fix those issues?
0 -
Sound like good changes for Trapper.
And yes, I am hopeful that SBMM will get BHVR to buff the lower tier killers. Though I am not sure if I agree that only three killers are viable at high MMR.
0 -
Which other ones would you consider higher tier? I would argue hag just because she focuses on her web and 3 genning if the game goes bad 🤔
0 -
Hag is certainly top tier, but one of her strengths is survivors not knowing how to play against her. At high levels you'll see survivors actively harass you from setting up a web and they'll be able to trigger traps right at the edge and immediately 180 out of there.
0 -
what?
I was rank 3 (red rank) before the ranking system changed.
0 -
Luckily I haven't hit this sbmm ceiling yet but i am sure I will...and move on to the next killer🤣
