What's your experience with cheaters?

I can say now that mmr is a thing I've gotten at least 6 people that blatantly cheat. That's playing off characters as well like Mikey. I had quite a few before but this is ridiculous. I want to know what your guys experience is with hacking and if its gotten this bad for you. For me its really running rampant, and even after all my reports they are free to ruin other players experiences its really just killing the vibe of this game for me.

It's always a survivor and far more frequent recently.

Its pretty obvious they need automated anti cheat/reporting up to date, since they cant keep up with cheating report tickets. I use to report and get actual feedback, at least a we are finally looking into it. now its just we haven't forgot about your tickets, then its lost forever.

I've never actually seen a hacking killer. its basically guaranteed to be a survivor, for a variety of reasons. They're usually exceptionally toxic and try their best to make it miserable for EVERYONE in the match, but very very rarely you might get a hacker who is trying to at least be somewhat comedic. They'll act silly and use their hacks to be silly. Thats rare though.

i have had only 2 extremely blatant YT vid worthy script kiddies that got banned the next day, the rest of the times i could have sworn it were either just lag or the game freezing for a split second

I've only ever noticed one in my own games and saw a really blatant on in a stream. That's over near 500 hours, so it can't be that bad.

I've run into them more frequently. I saw a Claudette that was flying around the map and clicking the flashlight non-stop. I also saw an infinite sprint bursting Nea. Once I realize I'm against a hacker, I just go AFK until they decide to end the match and move on with their life. I'm on console and it requires so much effort to report someone that I don't even bother. I've been wondering recently how many cheaters I'm playing against that aren't obvious about it, such as a survivor wall hacking. I get suspicious when I meet some of these survivors that never seem to make a mistake at a loop ever.

  • I've played for 600 hours and i've never encountered a cheater.

I have had 6 obvious encounters now - 5 survivors, 1 killer and it was just ######### dumb and stupid. They were all toxic and just wasting everyones time..

Just another negative thing that is making this game suck..

I actually had a PC hacker in my Crossplay off lobby.

    That was fun.

    lauraa Member Posts: 3,195

My buddy has crossplay off explicitly because he hates playing against pc, but he still got put into a match with a cheater pc hacker duo. He was repairing a gen that a hacker popped immediately and he was still repairing a popped generator, he couldnt stop laughing at that.

I know that hackers can disable your ability to report, but I wonder if they can hack crossplay status as well?

Not sure if it counts as "cheating" because i think it's even worse than that. A guy had a script with the flashlight that made it click so fast that the sound was stacking together and i had to remove my headphones or suffer permanent ear damage, i could even hear it with my headphones off and they insulate sound very well. I think i have more chances of sending him to jail than getting him banned from the game.

I've played for 1k+ Hours over 4 years and I never once encountered hackers until recently.

In the past 2-3 months I have encountered it 4 separate times, each of the times it was Survivors (more than one) on a Team with blatant hacks, flying around, speed hacks, healing hacks, etc.

3 of the times I was the Killer facing the hacking survivors, and 1 of the times I was the Survivor and the other 3 on my Team were the ones that were hacking.

Because I never noticed anything like this up until recently, I do believe that its a somewhat new trend that has gotten more popular or maybe DBD has gotten easier to hack over the years, not sure.

All I know is hacked games feel 100% useless and boring both as Killer and Survivor. Complete waste of time, not really even sure what can possibly be fun about it for the people doing it.

The first time I noticed it I took video recording and filled out the extremely extensive online reporting page on the DBD official website, sending in a ticket with complete documentation of the Hackers that I faced, video footage and all, but DBD auto-response said they were very busy handling tickets and literally never got back to me about it once... and it took me like 25min of work to actually report them correctly, so without knowing if the report worked and they really got banned or in trouble for it I decided that it's not worth the trouble and I didn't bother reporting the others that I came across after.

just for reference I have 2.5k hours I haven't really gotten any until recently, well I've had 3 previously I would say. With mmr its putting me against higher mmr survivors. since hackers rarely if ever lose, it makes sense I'm seeing them a lot more. you can say I have 600 hours etc. and haven't seen one, but you know if you have a high mmr, based on how well you play with killers.

The anticheat sucks, the game is FULLY CLIENT-SIDED. Unfortunatly, making skins is more important than converting this game to SERVER-SIDE, so nothing will ever change. Its bhvr afterall.

I've had one encounter that was either an incredibly rare bug, or cheating.

A chris redfield was unable to be downed and picked up a survivor twice knowing I had no ability to kill them

The weird part was this did not happen later on in the match, which makes me question whether it was actually a hack and they just wanted the match over with, or if it was some extreme circumstance.

I've done it, i keep the profiles of people i report and check back. they can go months or not even at all. then if they do they just make a new account, unless they have eac ip/hwid ban them. even then you can get around some of it pretty easily.

I JUST hit 4000 hours in game yesterday and in that time I have come across 3 cheaters that I was aware of.

Two were speed hackers and 1 was someone with a flashlight that had a crazy area that lit up like 10 times the area it should have.

I know that both speed hackers were banned because they came into my stream to let me know in a very colorful and juvenile way.

ofc this depends on your region and mmr will bring it out more, not sure which side you play or what you think your mmr is.

1600 hours with the game and only seen blatant cheaters like 3 times. All fellow survivors but this happened like over a year ago.

Well I have been rank 1 as killer and survivor for 4+ years...soooo guessing my SBMM is decent. I am a 50/50 player from Western US.

Having an SBMM number would make no difference - and I don't think we should ever see anyone else's SBMM - I could see maybe seeing a breakdown of our own, but people would just use that to mess with the system even more to get their easier matches and win-streaks. But that's neither here nor there... the topic is cheaters and I just haven't seen many when I play killer or survivor.

I am relatively new. Only devotion 1. But I ran into someone that could heal himself, maybe others (could have been 2 hackers as she was opening a chest in my face as I hit her), had flashlights (that he spawned in, or I guess he opened a box on his way to find me) that could auotblind even when facing a corner and could hook and unhook himself at will.

Except once, I always had fun with hackers. Last one was a 3v2 match, one of the killers was a flying huntress who took me to every place with beautiful views in Ormond.

Did you know you can sit over the big long stick that is between shack and main building?

It's very rare to see them and usualy it was killer who cheated. It happends like 1 per 150+ games on avarage for me.

I think i never met a killer cheater only survivors, either when i play killer or survivor.

From my experience (2-3 times) :

    • if there is a cheater he/she is always in a SWF.
    • there can be a cheating SWF, meaning multiple cheaters using multiple cheat
    • it can range from : TPing, Freezing killer or survivor in an area, insta-heal, speedhack to hooking/unhooking him/herself

I've noticed an uptick in speed-hackers in recent months. I've been playing almost 3 years and it was always extremely rare to see a cheater. I saw maybe 2 or 3 in my first two years. But I've seen quite a few players on both Killer and Survivor side with speedhacks, teleporting, instaheal, etc. just recently.

oh i thought it just me that feels it, currently in my region mostly killer was cheating and usually they use maphack,

No tracking perk and anything and can pinpoint where the survivors are.

It's increased after this new chapter released i think right now it's 1 in 4 games

I get at least one survivor hacker if I decide to play in the morning. They run faster than killer in a straight line (not nurse) or can insta-gen. I remember one time there were multiple, probably SWF. I went around each gen at least 3 times, none of them had any progress, no survivors in sight. Then 3 gens pop instantly. From 0 to 100% instantly. It's maddening. Despite how fun this game is, these people just make it unbearable. There are some who take no damage from M1 as well. I've never encountered the ones that fly around being goofy, at least that would be funny and not frustrating. I've also only ever encountered one hacking killer; a wraith that can teleport. I saw him go off towards another survivor then instantly disappeared and reappeared somewhere else. The hacking so rampant, idk why Behavior allows this.

Had one try and throw blame on me, they made all my totems spawn in as hexes even though I didn’t run any. I hit them and they went straight down, but picked themselves right back up again, then to injured.
