Is it useful to cast the gateway far away?
If you cast it far away, the survivors have plenty of time to get free and run away. Maybe only if you use some other add-ons like injury, etc. So on its own the add-on which increases the range is probably pointless.
Let me know what you think or if you have some good long-distance strategies.

I do it when I see a survivor on a gen when I've already downed one from far away, or to keep them from unhooking sometim3s

Using Pinheads power at longe range is completely useless.
You don't gain any distance on them and lose even more if you miss

If a survivor is hugging a small, tight loop, if you aim it properly you can slow them down enough to get a hit.
If you snipe them from far away you get nothing for it. It just tells the survivor you're nearby and to stretch before getting into a chase to prevent injury.

good for scouting and action interruption. paired with perks that give you aura reading or sound notifications, you could just make most actions impossible.
