Can hillbilly's chainsaw have more forgiving collision detection?
Specifically when it comes to environmental collision.
I've tried to flick around loops only to hit an invisible collision box. Or alternatively I hit something that slightly hangs off of a wall, and I mean so slight It shouldn't have collided at all.
Autohaven is especially agregious when it comes to this, but other maps have some of the same issues. Such as macmillans tree branch collision, or sanctum of wrath's hanging ivy collision.
In general his chainsaw feels overly sensitive to environmental hitboxes. Not sure if it was that way before his rework, it's been so long since I've properly mained him. But it certainly feels like it now.

Billy is dead. I only got his adept because i got matched against some trolls that constantly tried to blind me. I have no reason to ever touch him again.

I main him because I love his aesthetic, and he was my main in ye olde dead by daylight.
I'm still chasing the high of being a threatening hillbilly main.

Yes. Just yes billy needs redemption

Many aspects of hillbilly need to be looked at. The majority of his addons suck, his animations suck, and his model is due for a texture overhaul.
I wouldn't have been so upset about overheat if they didn't gut his addons and animations.

Playing him on a constant basis must be frustrating as hell. Everytime i played him to get the achievment i felt like a punchbag for the survivors. Never again.

Yeah, it is infuriating. But I'm also good with Blight on console, so I have that to fall back on when I get frustrated.

which would you say is harder? It took me a while to get fairly decent with blight, but I can never get billy at all and usually regret playing as him. It's annoying that he feels harder to me although blight is stronger. Even improving with nurse feels like a quicker process.

Idk why people says is dead? I mean most add ons sucks yeah.I ve never had problem of overheating the best addons are steering but thats it.

Hard to say, with both you have to know what parts of the environment work well with their power.
Blight has a steep learning curve, to a degree billy does too. But billy isn't meta, the reward for mastering him is lower than that of Blight or nurse.
So in the end I would say hillbilly is harder.

Not really what I said, but alright.

I don't know what happened but I'm pretty sure they have done something with Hillbilly collision. I was watching some old footage of mine playing him before the nerf and I was hitting chainsaws I am pretty sure I would not hit if I played him today, even though I'm miles better at killer now.
1 -
I get the idea in my head occasionally to start playing him more regularly seeing as he's possibly my favourite killer to go against, but then can't really think of anything specific I'd get out of it that oni, bubba, or blight couldn't provide

Yeah, they say they didn't mess with his basekit numbers. But it's felt off ever since his rework, even his turn rate feels different.

I mean, I literally can't travel up or down stairs using the chainsaw on any map except for the basement stairs on RCPD, so I'd say the collision maybe needs a little work, but it's possible that I'm just stupid or that the inability to traverse stairs at mach speed is intended.

I remember a time when he could run up stairs. It definitely isn't supposed to collide with them.
1 -
I also remember this being possible, but it's been forever and a day since I've been able to actually execute it.

There are collision boxes on things we wouldn’t think would exist. Lots of small branches on trees and vines hanging from above that cause a collision cooldown for Billy.
Unfortunately right now knowing these are part of his skill cap.

The fact you can hit something that high above him is stupid. One of the few reasons I pray to never go to the macmillan estate.
But lord knows how long it will take them fix his issues.

heavy clutch addon,, ..but yea.. bubba suffers the same issues with those small branches as well

The devs would first need to acknowledge that they screwed up billy with the gutting they gave him and given that literally no one at the company has taken credit for making those changes...
So Billy will never be fixed because the developers refuse to accept that they screwed up with him.

I do run heavy clutch, doesn't help when hitboxes are bigger than the actual object.
0 -
Yeah, but heavy clutch also reduces the damaging hitbox. It's hard enough to hit curves as it is.
3 -
oh... that does make sense

"I've tried to flick around loops only to hit an invisible collision box."
Bumping invisible collision is mainly caused by an high ping.
The 'heavy clutch' seems to be good with the Hillbilly's chainsaw but I don't know if it reduces the damaging hitbox of the survivors too.

That's not ping buddy, I've got decent internet.
Autohaven is known for environmental hitboxes being stupid. That and his chainsaw is overly sensitive to the smallest parts of objects. Such as the very tip of an object that looks like you have clearance of.
I get having simple collision zones makes the game run slightly better. But God does it make it annoying when the collision gets in the way of a perfectly executed curve.
And yes, heavy clutch does make it harder to hit survivors.

I don't think that's Billy's Chainsaw collision but rather map's collision. Deatahslinger's harpoon, Billy's Chainsaw, and Bubba's Chainsaw, Huntress hatchets, Trickster Knives, and Blight's rushes hit invisible hitboxes.

otzdarva spoke about how the heavy clutch works in detail. I timestamped the video 1:16:34. In his testing, it does not affect the hitbox of the survivors.
