my console mimic's a boeing plane whenever i load up DBD
while this was funny for a few years , when i learnt it was keeping my bedridden mom awake because the fan was that loud i slowly stopped playing DBD because i'd put her health above playing a bug that's masquerading as a game.
CAN WE PLEASE GET , THIS OPTIMIZATION PASS WE'VE HEARD SO MUCH ABOUT BUT SEEN SO LITTLE OF? PLEASE?

My ps4 ramps up like crazy in the lobby but calms down if i rotate the killer or move the cursor. Its weird.

The problem is that PS4 consoles aren't meant to be opened up. The risk of breaking something is pretty high. I've looked into taking my PS4 to a professional, but that means once again I'm paying money to fix a hardware problem that only seems to exist with DbD. That's it, DbD is the only game causing any issues.
The Pinhead update actually fixed the overheating issue that occurred on the opening splash screen and the offering screen. Like so many of us on the forum have been saying, DbD's visual effects (especially the fog) are taxing the systems. Some of the maps get the fans going, but the biggest problem is that with the Pinhead update the campfire menu/lobby screen now overheats the console as much as the splash screen used to. It sucks.

Please do not shame players for the platform on which they play the game. Whether it is PC or Console, it does not matter, platform shaming is not something we want here on the Forums whatsoever.
I understand the frustration, the issues regarding consoles are acknowledged, and still being worked on by the Team.

I wish they actually didn't "fix" it.
We don't have to spend much time at the splash screen and offering screen. Now we have the same problem at places you mentioned where we actually do spend some time.
We are in worse situation now. Let's just hope our consoles don't die or something.
I mean I appreciate that they are doing something (like they did with dh) but this thing turned for the worse.

You're not wrong, the console overheating on the lobby screen is way worse. However, the devs fixing the splash screen does show that this is a problem they both can fix and need to fix on their end.
Looking at the campfire lobby screen, they have so much going on. Fire, smoke, sparks, fog, volumetric lighting. I wouldn't be surprised if the big problem that was added with the Pinhead update that's making the lobby screen so bad is the volumetric lighting shining through the building's windows, but I don't know enough about the inner workings of their game to actually point a finger and say "that's the cause." It would mean that the campfire screen's overheating worsened because BHVR's trying to be fancy with their background and not because they tried to fix it and failed. It is strange that the fans get louder now than they did with the super busy Resident Evil background, though. Craziness.
