Removing Pinhead Voicelines actually makes sense
Hello.
-----
I thought a lot about it and i know i'll get lot of hate from this post but here me out : it actually makes sense, especially canon wise.
It was an amazing idea but it brought a problem : how to make it not be played when the killer is playing the Chatterer skin, or a future skin of an other Cenobite ? Would they need to get approval to record specific lines from the different Cenobites ?
Because that is probably the reason behind this removal. The devs made the right choice by calling Pinhead "The Cenobite". It allows them to add the 3 (only saw the movies once so i'm not sure there are only 3) other Cenobites without problem.
But the issue come when the voiceline of Pinhead would be played when playing Chatterer or the Female Cenobite (which will probable come). It would sounds weird and out of place. Same way we had - as a bug - Frank voice while using a Julie or Susie body when playing as Legion.
So for me until they figure out a way to either only play the voice line when it's Pinhead or get license agreement to record 3 others "voice lines", we won't get the voice lines back. And it's for the best.

Please don't hate me too much, just voicing an opinion. You have the right not to agree with me but don't bash on me for it. Thank you and see you in the Fog !

The skins could have the removed voiceline, and Pinhead could keep his. That would make even more sense!
Besides, Chatterer already has a unique line and we ain't getting no female Cenobite. Too risqué.

oh Chatterer has a voiceline ? i actually didn't know because for some reason i never saw any youtuber or streamer playing as him.
Oh why is that risky to add her ? She doesn't show her breast or anything, and even that would not be an issue as we already have Hag.

I've mentioned this too. It is a possibility that the inclusions of Chatterer and other Cenobites influenced the removal of the Pinhead voice lines.
Personally, I am not at all fussed by the loss of the quote, and I am a big Hellraiser fan. Hopefully we will see the Butterball and Female Cenobites. I would also be happy to see Dr Channard and Angelique, but those are real long shots.

They could remove it for the others. Nemesis says, "Stars" during his Mori, but only if he's killing Jill or Chris, so theyve already done context sensitive lines.
11 -
That's a very good point actually.
3 -
yeah i must admit i forgot about that and agree it's really valid.
1 -
As far as I know they are able to bind sound files to skins. Take pig as example : she has different attack sounds if you equip the saw
5 -
You're right.
I do hate you for this post/opinion.
I would rather Pinhead never have any alternate skins ever, if that meant he could have his voice lines.
I'm still furious they removed them.

Jill and Claire have different voice even tho its the same character but different skins.
Surely it can be done with pinhead and chatteter too, so the problem with removed voice lies elsewhere
2 -
oh her voice changes when she has a different weapon ? i never noticed it Oo
At least you are honest about it, i'm not mad at you for hating me <3
0 -
wait that is really weird. Why would they have different voices ? Oo
0 -
Because they are different people? Same for Leon and hos legendary skin Chris.
Also devs are planning to do that for all legendaries in the game. Like cheryl and her skins have still same voice but in the future, every legendary skin will have unique voice
2 -
Chatterer has a voiceline ?
Calling it "voiceline" is a bit extreme, but he does chatter his teeth when he gets stunned and when he teleports, so I believe they can tie the "I came" voiceline to be Pinhead's exclusive
For this reason I think that the Chatterer skin had very little to do with the voiceline being removed, and it was more of a "Licenser doesn't like that you guys are making it sexual" type of thing

That makes little sense too tho. I've seen all the movies, many of them are sexual as heck

Legendary skins have a separate audio reserved for each one, so it wouldn’t matter if some did and some skins didn’t have voice lines.
It’s why Leon and Chris sound different. Jill and Claire. Steve and Jonathan. Etc.

I know, it's been said before, but one thing is a controlled message that comes directly from the license holder, one thing is a meme-wave like the one that the community generated
Many companies are scared of the latter, especially since online journalism always loves to make a big deal out of nothing

I don't think that's the issue. We can see with the legion that changing voices through skins is no problem. MAYBE it's something to do with the fact chatterer is the first killer legendary. But i think they are just gone.

Can't believe people are still on about a character not saying 6 words

Im glad they were removed since i found out it was a guy from BHVR doing the voices and not Doug Bradley (Pinhead actor)
There are many many different cenobites throughout the films. The first has 4, the second has 5 (an antagonist becomes one) and then 3,4,5,6,7.8 have about 40000 mostly all stupid looking.
Im all for the voice line removal. Idc about the other so called "voices" because they're just breathing, but Doug Bradleys voice is iconic and the guy from the game dont sound like him. You could say well, this pinheads based on the 9th or 10th hellraiser film but if thats the case then people should hang their head in shame.
If they get Bradley on board to do the voice then id be happy with it, but some bozo that dont sound like him can naff off.

Legion already proved you can have different skins using different voicelines.
Edit: not only Legion. Johnatan, Claire and Chris.

How is the female cenobite any more risqué than all the other
sex demonsexplorers in the furthest reaches of experience?2 -
Cheryl and Lisa's skin have different voice and are 2 separate skins, Leon and Chris also have different voices, it does not make sense to rsmove Pinhead because of Chatterer, honestly, I do believe it was because people were immature with the line "I came" and removed it
1 -
You probably have a point there. It's not too far out of the realm of possibility to assume they couldn't turn the voice off without breaking a ton of stuff, which they can't manage to do as is, so they opted to remove it entirely.
0 -
If this is the reason, all involved in that decision are 🤡
0 -
They're not spoken lines though, which would be their own separate audio cue. I'm sure even spoken lines would be a simple swap though. But it's a possibility given how busted the game is and continues to get over time.

Let's say hypothetically that is the case.
Why can't they just say that? The only answer we have been given is "They were removed, and we can't talk about it" they are being extremely cryptic. If the reason was because of the other ones, and they just didn't have the ability to add in that skins change the sounds just yet and that it will come in a future patch, why can't they just say that?
It is more likely that the license holder got wind of the fact that everyone was making the "HE CAME" jokes constantly, and told BHVR to pull the voice lines which they were allowed to do due to however their contract was written.
0 -
Nemmy also said stars when I pulled a Leon from a locker
0 -
But why would the licence holders of a very lucrative and sexual-based franchise have the licence pulled over people making jokes about nutting?
0 -
Actually, Cheryl, Lisa and Cybil all share the same voice for now, there's rumours that Cheryl will be receiving another Legendary skin and the voices will change then.
0 -
Well they didn't pull the licence, they only asked to remove some "risquè" voicelines, but still.. they are a bunch of sissies, that's why
0 -
Because it is still a horror franchise and it could have been something they didn't like with people making jokes. Regardless of the exact reasons, it is likely related to the license holder not liking something, otherwise BHVR would just tell us. Instead they are being extremely cryptic about it.

I wonder if this will explain if it was a bug or something confidential.
1 -
Do they? I was sure Lisa and Cheryl were different when they released??

The line is badass. Within the context of the film and the characters themselves ("you asked for it whether you liked it or not, and now we're here to collect") it's awesome, and it was delivered extremely well in the game. I miss it and sincerely hope that it wasn't the juvie meme giggle crowd that forced them to remove it.
1 -
He sounded incredibly similar to me. Same inflection and everything. If the line didn't need to be changed from "we" to "I" I would have guessed that it might have been isolated audio from the film itself.
0 -
Nope.

They dont. Maybe to your ears, but the moment i heard them i knew it was very different. You can still listen to the files on the dbd wiki. But i noticed from the 1st time i heard it on otz stream on the PTB that they didnt sound anything like his proper voice.
0 -
They sounded the same enough to me so I guess this is nothing more than a difference of opinion.

I don't think it makes sense personally, since there are a lot of examples to support that it's fully capable to have a character with separate voices that can easily be sorted.
Legion's new skin that came out is the best example I can give since their voice becomes robotic and distorted when you wear the helmet and chest
