Questions from a new player
Hi, I just tried mobile and then bought the game in the middle of August. I'm currently Iridescent IV on the Killer side (which I play tons more) and Ash II on Survivor (which I try once or twice a day). I also occasionally try DbD Mobile now. Here are some questions I have for the more experienced players?
a) Does this new color grade (I just started right before the changeover from rank) have anything to do with matchmaking?
b) What does 4K'ing a match mean? 4 kills? Or 4,000 points? Four kills makes more sense but I would also write 4,000 as 4K if I was abbreviating it.
c) I don't have a level 50 yet as I'm trying to unlock teachable perks. Is that a good idea? Should I prestige when I do get a level 50?
d) Etiquette: I read that camping and tunneling are really not fun for the survivors so I don't do it. However, if I'm in the area, and I hear a loud noise from a unhook I send my Killer back there. Is that considered tunneling?
e) Etiquette: When I first started in August, I tried DbD Mobile and played a survivor who used Bloody Party Streamers and go camped and tunneled right after starting, turning a corner, and running into the killer. It was not fun so whenever I see Bloody Party Streamers or Cakes that give my Killer blood points I aim to hook survivors twice and then just run around dropping them and letting the survivors heal them until they finally escape (assuming I'm able to, of course, I did say aim to). Does that sound reasonable?
f) Player Base: Are there more toxic players on the survivor side than the killer side? I ask that because when I run into what I assume is a SWF some of them are awesome fun to play against but a few of them swear at me and try to trash talk after the match. None of the killers have done so yet. If they are swearing at me, is that reportable? Is there a way to block them so I don't see them again? I honestly prefer just not running into them again if they're going to be acting like that.
g) So far, the Cenobite, Nemesis, Hag, Huntress, and Spirit seem to be really strong killers. Ghostface seems to have a very strong kit as well. Is that accurate or just a function of me being new to the game?
h) For any of you who have tried both the computer game and mobile, has your experience been that being a Killer is easier on the computer but being a Survivor is a lot easier on mobile?
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to respond and I'm new so I apologize for any obvious questions.

I will only write short answers if you want to know more, ask me about it.
A) color has nothing to do with matchmaking
B) 4 Kills
C) its good to unlock teachables, but if you have every perk unlocked, its harder to get the perks you want. Prestige only if you want the bloody cosmetics.
D) Tunneling is when you target the unhooked survivor immediately. There are many definitions and i tunnel sometimes. Play hiw how you want to be treated as survivor.
E) Do what you want. I dont change my playstyle, when i see bp offerings, but when i started i tried to get many bloodpoints.
F) i experienced more toxic survivor, but there are more survivor than killer.
G) Nurse, Spirit and Blight are the strongest, but spirit gets a nerf. Hag and Huntress are strong, Cenobite and Nemesis are too new to measure, but i would say they are in the middle of strength, Ghostface is on the weaker side, but is still good.

e) Etiquette: there is none
g) Your opinion will change with time. Either by your own experience or by group mentality.

A: The color grade is a brand new addition that tracks how well you yourself are performing. My understanding is that it does not directly correlate to what opponents you get. You'll be at certain grades while others will be at totally other grades and these are meant to be a representation of how much you've been playing and advancing your characters, NOT how "good" you are. There is some controversy about this, others can tell you more.
B: "4K" simply means killing all four survivors. To many it is the ultimate goal of a match, though that is entirely up to the player to determine.
C: Leveling and prestiging: Here's what I found. If you spread bloodpoints around a bunch of different characters, thus unlocking lots of teachables and slowly building up multiple people, you will sort of be "spreading the butter thin". What I personally prefer to do is try to build up a character who has perks that I really want and then unlock those perks to be available for other characters (which randomly start showing up in everyone else's bloodweb). If you instead build up a lot of characters slowly instead of one character specifically, you'll wind up with a load of perks that you may not want filling up the bloodwebs instead of the select few that you're specifically seeking. In short: The more perks you unlock / "teach", the more those perks will potentially impede your ability to get your top-most desired perks on the characters you want them on.
As for prestiging, keep in mind that you lose ALL accumulated things for that character (other than outfits) and start over from scratch. At level 50 the bloodweb is massive, a good 50,000 sink just to flip it to a new bloodweb with a new selection of items, so I learned the hard way to try to focus on one character at a time, build them up, get them as many of the great perks as I like, and ONLY prestige them if they get all the way to level 50 and are still missing perks that I really want on them. At that point it's sometimes better to start over with smaller, cheaper bloodwebs that don't cost nearly as much to work through. Also remember that prestiging will only give you bloody clothes and a very, very minor chance at getting higher quality items. Not the big deal some make it out to be.
D: You have every right to camp and tunnel and this is coming from a survivor main. It's a valid strategy. But yes, it DOES suck for survivor (camping in particular, as the person being camped can't play their game), so whether to do it is up to you. Just keep in mind that tunneling the same character over and over all game is considered harassment so use god judgment. General rule: As long as you're playing within the stated rule of the game, you don't need to concern yourself with comments from people complaining about how you play. Obey the rules but otherwise play how YOU feel comfortable playing.
E: Others may disagree but I value sportsmanship tremendously and do everything I can to reduce the toxicity of this community by letting people know that there are respectful players. I never, every teabag at the exit gate (I just leave, there's no point other than to be a jerk) and I always go out of my way to go for two hooks MAX (only if they haven't already slipped into hook stage two) and no kills if I see cakes or party streamers. I can always get good points as killer, I have no reason to deliberately play hard and deprive survivors who are looking to boost their relatively low points using special items. As I say in end-game chat, "No one dies when I see cake". :)
F: "Sides". This forum seems to be marginally more killer-sided that I see elsewhere, and some are way more vocal than others, so be prepared to see a lot of complaints about survivor behavior, survivor builds, etc. In my experience the game is more or less balanced. There are heroes and villains on both sides. Again, my advice is to be a good example and just try to play respectfully. By all means try to fulfill whatever win conditions matter to you, but don't be a jerk about it and you'll be a standout regardless of which side you play. And do play both roles if you can. You learn a lot that way.
G: The most commonly regarded "top" killers are Spirit and Nurse, in that order, because their powers of teleportation and tracking are strong without much downside, tells, or consistent ability to outplay them. I like Nurse alright, not a fan of facing spirit. Some people love Ghostface, as a killer who has the ability to be silent ans sneaky he makes me tense and often frustrated. He and Wraith are my least favorite killers for this reason. Hag is also disliked by many for her camping style and the abrupt nature of the execution of her traps, which can be startling. Huntress is a mixed bag - she's a basic killer but deadly in the right hands. I've found (and others will disagree) that Pig, Pyramid Head, Oni, Trapper, Deathslinger, Hillbilly, and maybe a few others are a fair challenge that don't seem heavily weighted one way or the other. Also stay away from Leatherface, he has one-hit downs and loves to camp. Pinhead is too early, there are mixed feelings about him as is the case with all brand new killers.
H: Haven't tried mobile, unfortunately.
For what it's worth I've been playing the game an average of 2-6 hours every couple of days for the last six months and am 800 hours in. This is a game of practice and patience, and lots of experimentation and learning. While I'm no expert, I'm good, and I'm happy to provide feedback where I can. If I can give you any advice it's to have fun with this game overall, try not to let naysayers, complainers or toxic players influence your matches or how you feel playing them. Don't look at things as a grind and just have fun. Every match is a chance for more points, as well as a chance to learn and improve. Just enjoy yourself and don't take things too seriously. Good luck!

A) Grades aren't part of the new matchmaking.
B) 4K does mean 4 kills.
C) Prestiging a character only gives you a bloody version of that character's outfit, with three pieces for all three prestiges, Only do it if you want the outfit and achievements.
D) Going back to hooks isn't tunneling. Tunneling is when you are focusing one single survivor out, even if it means ignoring free hits and downs that other survivors may try to give you.
E) You can play however you want. The killer that you played against probably didn't care about the party streamers and only cared about their gameplay.
F) We can't really say which side is more toxic since everyone has a different definition of toxicity, and we don't know which side has more players. Unfortunately, there is no way to block players in Dbd and I can't remember if cussing someone out is reportable, but it might fall under communications abuse.
G) Hag, Huntress and Spirit are indeed strong. Cenobite and Nemesis need more time to properly be known where they fit in the strength hierarchy.
H) I haven't played mobile.

a) The grade system is a reward schematic for how much you played in the month, it isn't linked to match making anymore.
b) 4k stands for 4 kills in this game.
c) Get a decent build, get the teachables you want (try to avoid those you don't) and don't prestige unless you want the cosmetics
d) You will learn soon enough that you should play based on your own enjoyment, the other side won't show mercy and be nice to you. It is not your job to make them have a good time, if they make a mistake... punish it. If you haven't found someone and an unhook happens go to it, if the guy that just was hooked walks into you... wack him down. If you want to get better at the game you have to realize that tunneling, camping, slugging (leaving them on the ground after knocking them down) and all that jazz is part of the tools in your arsenal and they all have a time and place to be used; If you overcommit to a chase, a tunnel, a camp... you will lose against decent players.
e) If you want to farm... farm, all this is based on your own choice of what you want to do and one advise is to do it because you want to do it and like it... not because you think someone else's maybe feelings, as I have been nice to people and still get called a baby killer or camper or tunneler or toxic or worse.
f) end game salt is end game salt; if they cross a line you can always report them and if you don't want to have the chat you can disable it.
g) Spirit, Hag, Huntress are viewed as strong killers especially in the right hands. Cenobite has potential but his 1v1 is lacking, but if not handled well the hunt passive is strong. Nemesis is a decent, but not amazing. Yet any killer can be defeated with proper teamwork, macro choices and sticking to gens.
h) Controls on killer is more difficult on a mobile so based that both those statements seem pretty accurate.

As others have answered your other questions right I will only need to clarify one thing to you that nobody else has said about prestige. When you prestige you also increase your % chance of rares and iri spawns in the bloodweb its not just for the bloody outfits and thats why you do it so you dont feel like your wasting them on a bad game. It takes a while but its often worth it for some killers and always worth it for survivors so I would check on what killers your playing and if they have addons that are worth it to prestige for.
