Yes, I said that I would leave for a while, but I think I will return for this wonderful news, I think the lawsuit was officially ended, the screenwriter won the appeal and now he only needs to claim national rights, so the legal matter ended later long time. So I think I'll wait for Jason very comfortable to be his official main.

i have seen claims that the lawsuit is finally over far too often on these forums
would be cool as a 6th year anniversary (if negotiations and stuff already started before all this was publicly over i think it could be possible?)

Keep in mind too that just because the copyright battle is over doesn't mean anything for BHVR. Maybe the copyright holder will want too much money. Maybe he wants to pick Friday the 13th The Game back up. Maybe he just doesn't want Jason in the game period.
This is all also assuming it doesn't go right back into copyright hell with new lawsuits or appeals or whatnot.
There's a LOT that still would have to happen before Jason is murdering teenagers in this game...

Furthermore Victor has the rights to the name Jason... and not his appearance. Meaning that Hocky Mask Jason we all know and love won't be coming.
So how much flack would the devs get for not having that one specific iteration in the game?

Thats fine, I think the Devs can come up with a character that looks similar to Jason but not close enough to get into legal issues. Give him a non-hockey mask and a machete. His power could involve traps and such.

K, you've been on these forums for long enough you know that people will take one look, not see the Hocky Mask, and along comes 50 threads of how they're uninstalling and all BHVR employees should be shot or something equally as awful.

Victor Miller has rights to the first movie with that comes Pamela Voorhees, camp crystal lake and boy Jason after that one it was Sean Cunningham.
I haven't pay attention for awhile now, but the last I heard Victor want's shared rights to the sequels. This isn't going to end anytime soon if they can't come to agreement it's best just to forget about it.

At this point if they ever signed a contract to get jason they would most likely rework trapper into him as he was originally susposed to be jason as far as im aware. If they added in jason tho he would feel a bit too much like trapper or boring in comparison. In my opinion Jason doesnt really have any power aside from being too hard to kill as even freddy had trouble. Just being able to kill well doesnt really translate into a game setting and Myers is basically the stalker of this game so we shall see if they ever add him now but I highly doubt it.

Hillbilly was definitely designed with Leatherface in mind just how Trapper got designed with Jason in mind.

I wonder if they could still do friday the 13th chapter but instead of Jason, they could use Roy Burns from Part 6 and include a map not related to camp crystal like(like Pinehurst or Forest Green) since technically Victor doesn't own those properties.
I know it wouldn't be the same, but it would be better than nothing and it could serve as a placeholder until Jason is free to come.

This is true, but that is almost my point. People clearly got over it and I believe I can speak on behalf of everyone that Rorschach Freddy and Assassin's Creed Ghostface are better than no Wes Craven characters at all.

Ha ha ha... That actually made me laugh out loud. I suppose that is possible.
To be fair, everyone threw a fit over the removal of Pinhead's voiceline being removed. So perhaps you are correct. The lack of Hockey Mask probably would result in riots and a massive ban wave on the forums.

All the screenwriter has the rights to is whatever appeared in the first film. That means the killer Pamela Vorhees, the councilors in the first move, the drowned child Jason Vorhees, Camp Crystal Lake, and possibly the title "Friday the 13th".
The hockey mask wearing monster was designed by the movie studio, not the screenwriter. If they renamed him (something as simple as Jason Vicious) and gave him a slightly different backstory, BHVR would really only need to go through the studio for the copyright. They may have to choose a different chapter name than "Friday the 13th" but I don't think people will care too much about the chapter name.

Even if the copyright fight is over, chances are its for the rights of the film in the US (national) and not in the world (international) which can still make problems for ditribution or stuff like adding Jason to DbD (and if it endz now you can bet itll still take years before anhthing happens)

That is a problem, but it would not have the rights of the adult Jason, but of the name, place, everything related to the first film, the important thing is that the lawsuit seems to have been concluded 100% but there is a possibility that it is in danger because of some madman who wants to appeal or sue him again, which would be good to bring him here as soon as possible before that happened.

What if instead of Voorhees it was Jason Voorhes, Vorehees, or Vorhees.. hahaha it's close enough to be said the same, and people avoid alot of legal trouble by a small letter change xD

After adding Pinhead BHVR is now obligated to add Jason, and Candyman… Add these two immediately. Then this game will be finally complete. After the new Candyman film there’s no reason to avoid adding him. Same with Jason. Like Pinhead these are some the oldest icons, c’mon! 😠

In fact it makes sense, BHVR for sure when this will have its priority fixed on Jason, In fact with Pinhead in December of last year, it was announced that Clive Barker recovered the rights to the Hellraiser franchise in the United States, eye, and Today Pinhead is in the game, I think the same can happen with Friday the 13th, the lawsuit is over and both parties could reach an agreement, Cunnigham or whatever it is written, it has the rights of adult Jason apparently or some other Producer according to which version of Jason they want to make it as a base skin, and the name of Jason Voorhees or Camp Crystal Lake, Miller has them, maybe if both parties joined, we would have Jason here, I think that since it is a very large license , It will be set for the anniversary, also when an anniversary trailer is revealed is in May, and next year in May, it falls on Friday the 13th, it may be a very silly coincidence but I hope to see Jason here hovering between chapters 22-25 as mini mine

2 yrs are 8 dlc's, i don't think will take so long.
If both sides agreed and devs wants to bring Jason soon, this will take less than a year.
