Unwarranted toxic behaviour in solo queue
Queued into a solo queue game as survivor. Got a deathslinger on Racoon city PD. I did a gen solo and teammates took turns going down and unhooking each other. No flashlights, no toxicity (as far as I could tell) and a killer that rarely left the hook.
Soon as we get to end game chat killer comes right out with 'gg ez'
This game comes on the back of being facecamped by a Nemesis (at 3 gens left).
Honestly though, what's the point of doing this?

That's it? That's all?

Yes, game after game today is just toxicity. Honestly I hear all day about Survivors are the worst, etc but when I queue up solo I just deal with this all day.
I feel like the toxicity is just getting worse in this game

At this point, it’s just to rile you up. It’s doing exactly that, evidently.

Some people are just #########, it sucks but there is not much that you can do (except for maybe closing the chat).

It is too ez for killers to win. That's all I get.

It is like that in every pvp game.

Yeah, this game's community is pretty notoriously toxic, which makes it a bit hard to recommend to others.
To be fair though, I see way more BM from survivors than killers, both in game and post game. If you don't want me to tunnel you down, don't click me or teabag me - because if you want my attention, I'll give it to you.
That said, yeah, this game is in serious need of a jerk purge.
GGEZ or some variant is one of the most poisonous things you can say after a game. A bad loser is understandable. A bad winner is just a colossal bag of butts.

I don't know man, I can't go three games as a Killer without someone wishing cancer on my family or absolutely losing their ######### because I didn't run to the opposite side of the map after every hook, so I really ain't so sure if "GGEZ" is worthy of a thread, given the fact this forum would end up being nothing but Killer mains posting screenshots of every other lobby.
Again, I'm not saying that Survivors can't experience toxicity, or that "GGEZ" isn't lame, but this game has a far bigger issue when it comes to post game bullying.

I could come up with literally thousands of better insults than calling the game easy after feigning good sportsmanship. Gg ez sounds like a preschooler thought they were being original when trying to flex on someone in CoD for the first time.

Oh I agree.
The problem is that BHVR are pretty quiet on what constitutes a 'win condition' for both roles. As things stand, it's a zero sum game - unless everyone escapes, at least one survivor feels like they 'lost', and if even one survivor escapes, killers feel the same.
Which is silly. I regularly get Ruthless in games where I only manage to finish off one survivor, and I could swear I've managed Merciless too.
There needs to be a placard somewhere saying 'okay, survivors. Not all of you need to make it out alive to win. Killers - you don't need to party wipe survivors every game.'

ggez is the least awful thing i've seen in chat
2 -
Even less awful than your standard gg?

It's a unfortunate reality of just any PVP game period. Whether it's because some people are just jerks or some people are a little bit too competitive or some people are just making up for how miserable their own life is by spreading that around. A lot of people just don't have respect for the game and/or their opponents.
All you can do is roll your eyes, not let it get to you, and move on.

welcome to the DBD community, this behavior is excused, endorsed and praised.

People say that Silent Hill is hell on earth but it's actually solo q.

I sort of disagree.
This was the case, maybe 15 years ago. But companies have realized that a septic community is really bad for business, as it really does drive players away.
Now, a lot of games at least gently enforce a CoC - because once people start copping bans for being poisonous, it sets an example and everyone else starts calming down.
As it stands, the right way to play this game, especially as killer, is just to disable post-game chat. Which is a shame as it really does rob the game of a bit of banter and community.

Or boredom. There are people who do it just for entertainment.

I mean if you consider a GGEZ toxic, thats on you. an insult or a slur would be toxic, ggez is just a childish remark which doesnt mean anything.

Hit continue or upgrade.
They just want to upset you, and anything you do in retaliation makes their victory more complete. Nothing anyone can say will do anything but make it funnier to them. You have to ignore them.
This isn't real life, this is fantasy. You can walk away in a click of a button. This person didn't even say anything offensive just immature. If a real person was following you around in real life being loud and obnoxious obviously more action should be taken. Online however if everyone ignored them itd be no different than if they opened a notepad and typed mean words and just stared at them.
Just ignore them and it won't even matter if they stop, because no one will care about them.

There are steps BHVR could do to help fix it (or at least alleviate some of it) but BHVR either can't or won't address it so not much you can do as a player unfortunately

They are probably taking something out in other people. That's how toxicity starts in general in this game i think. People take stuff out on other people, and those people take that out on other people.

It's because they want to be toxic but heaven forbid they get a taste of their own medicine and come here to the forums crying about toxic survivors, ego is the problem with this game idk why but alot of people will act like they're the best player to ever play the game and when things don't go their way they blame everyone but themselves and there is always a excuse for why they lost and there's no way in their mind they were outplayed or mindgamed in any way

I don't get why some killers get all excited when they trounce solo queue survivors unless they can't tell that they're, well solo queue but the fact still remains. I'm the opposite when I'm playing killer if I trounce solo q survivors I feel bad because I know how AWFUL solo is as survivor and then conversely going against swfs is challenging. But still I try not to be toxic in any scenario.
Snap back if you want then leave. Never let them see you sweat bcuz that gives them what they want, just remind them that they are the ones being petty and to be better. Maybe leave the hook and get better at the game looping and chasing instead of camping people and being toxic in end game chat for example. Like that guy will never get to rank 1 with that play style, just saying. Toxicity will only get you so far.

I'd consider GG EZ way more toxic than a bit of banter or balancing whining. It's incredibly disrespectful.
It's understandable why people can be sore about losing.
Being a bad winner is just being a jerk.
I'm not sure how it is now (I'm really old, and the world has become really different in terms of what's acceptable and what isn't), but in my day, a bit of trash talk between teams was expected in a lot of sports, but refusing to shake hands after a match would probably get you fined, at the very least and this sort of gloating would be unheard of, and likely would see a player ejected from their team permanently.
Which is why, somewhere in that chain, moderation is usually needed. Otherwise you end up with pre-Tribunal LoL or EVE Online.
I can count the number of gloating killers I've run into on one hand. It's usually premade SWF groups being butts in post-game.
I'm the ultimate 'nice guy' killer. If I'm steamrolling, I'm probably going to ease up and I'll usually let one or two escape regardless. However, the second you get cocky and start teabagging or flashing me, I'm going to take you out, even at the expense of other objectives. If you want my attention, it would be rude not to oblige.

gg can be construed as sympathetic
0 -
I always prefer 'good effort' or 'well tried' - GG can come over really condescending when you absolutely crushed.
1 -
Your alternatives honestly sound worse. They sound like what you'd tell a small child after he or his team lost.
1 -
Shrug. I think that you've have to deliberately be assuming a negative interpretation here. You'd have to be astonishingly thin skinned to be offended by 'good effort'.
0 -
It's literally what I've heard people tell their small children, but whatever you say.
0 -
Turn off that ######### chat
0 -
Is it? Man, society has changed significantly since I was a lad. In my day, you'd be more likely to hear 'better luck next time' if you were lucky, or 'you need to try harder' if you weren't.
'Good effort' is something you'd see on a project that got a solid 'B', but wasn't good enough for an 'A'.

I mean he baited out on a response from you in the form of you making this thread. I would just say don't read post game chat but that would be too easy of a solution eh.

The problem is that I sort of enjoy some interactions in PGC. I also feel weirdly compelled to say 'GG' or 'Well Tried' (if it was a stomp), or to commiserate if they had an AFK or ragequit. It's probably a holdover from team sports when I was younger.
