Thoughts on Environmental Hazards
Love'em or hate'em, zombies are an interesting addition to the game. PVP is cool and all, but PVE elements can be compelling parts too, regarding environmental storytelling and emergent gameplay. We've had small, passive environmental effects due to gen repair - but what if they were less passive?
What do people think of them, just from a game design standpoint? Plenty of types wouldn't work for DBD, but whether they work here or not:
What about gens releasing water into pools, which might slow a survivor or killer?
What about that freezer room on Gideons: what if there was a risk of cold in certain areas of maps, but a higher chance of something like a firecracker in a chest that spawns there?
What if those pustula flowers had served less individual purposes, maybe giving a passive haste boost to both sides in an AOE not unlike the new boons?
What could you come up with?

I think it would be cool
Imagine if swamp had areas where you could slip because of mud

When Swamp was in development, I have been told they had planned areas where you sink in and walk Slower. But there was no way of making it fun or entertaining. But I think it would be a great addition, maybe we should encourage BHVR to revisit those old ideas?

Wouldn't that make the issue with map rng even worse?

No, and I think the reason why is obvious.
Though I do think that an official weather system for DBD would be very cool.

Oh, definitely. I'm not saying "devs, add this feature", I'm saying "players, what would be nifty in an ideal world given a perfect development process, team, and finances?"
"No" isn't actually much of a response to anything I said - but that second part is. Weather systems, even if they're passive, are neat additions to games.

YES

Let me rephrase my first response.
Personally, I don't think environmental hazards would be a good addition. Simply because of all the complaints and annoyance it will cause. Like imagine outplaying a survivor or killer very well and then you end up losing the chase because the water you stepped in slows you down.

That reminds me of Home sweet home's swamp level. There was this lower route that was flooded with water that slowed your character down.
Noone ever went down there unless they were new because it made you an easy kill. I wouldn't doubt that if they tried to add tiles like that , they would go largely ignored.
You'd just look at it and say "wow, there's nothing here".
