Hex: Plaything Looks Very Strong Actually
First of all I should mention I don't have the Pinhead DLC yet, waiting for a discount. This is all from my experiences facing the perk or watching people use it.
Not on every killer but on killers like Bubba, Oni etc. Hex: Plaything sounds like a very strong perk. It works as a stealth perk that lets you get closer to survivors before they start running and usually gets you a free hit or a down in the case of killers like Bubba, it works as a slowdown perk where if they want to get rid of it they have to spend time looking for and doing up to 5 totems, it works as an information perk because whenever a Hex pops you get a notification and finally it gets rid of DS unlike killer based actions like Demo's portals, Pig's boxes, Plague's fountains etc. And it does all of these with zero input from the killer, which is the best part of all of this.
In builds that doesn't involve other hex perks and on killers who benefit from stealth a lot, this perk feels like it should be meta. It feels weird how rarely I see it being used outside Pinheads.

Why is it a hex tho?

Why not? Its the best hex design imo, bc you cant completely destroy it.

Well its effect is tied to hex totems, and it gets removed when its cleansed.

Because being permanently oblivious on an indoor map is the definition of hell

I love it, it's my new favourite perk. I'm a bit annoyed that boon totems (assuming they're somewhat popular and multiple survivors run them) have the potential to make it kind of obsolete less than a full chapter after its release. I don't really care if they stop noed activating though.

One match it was the cruelest thing ever a Twins player brought Lerys with Plaything and Hysteria

Imagine using Doctor with Plaything and Thrill of the Hunt. I want to try it out so much... But I still have to unlock the perk on Doctor...
This also raises a question for me: does blindness remove the aura from Plaything? Since it doesn't for killer specific objects like Saw Boxes and Fountains (but do for hooked survivors...).

It's really cool, but very prone to RNG cleanses, especially on smaller maps. 16m is quite a large radius.
That said, I'm currently trying to make room for it on a number of killers, especially speedy ones or killers with instadown potential.

It actually works in its favor. It forces one of 2 paths. 1. Allow the killer with a strong chase to be a stealth killer. 2. Waste a not insignificant amount of time. Moreso than other hexes.

I loaded into a lobby with Bubba and this while reading your thread…literally just got out 30 seconds ago and came here. Yea this ######### is strong. He’s a walking Insiduous Bubba now. This guy didn’t even have to use his chainsaw. The threat of it was enough to keep us in check in addition to already being out positioned and caught off guard. Damn I wish I was using one of my totem builds for this one…

I've seen it quite a bit; obnoxious to go against, to say the least lol. The most annoying part is when you're cleansing a dull totem as a teammate gets hooked and it gets blocked, kicking you off the totem.

After the nerf to boon totems, I actually feel it might be the opposite.

Yes blindness removes the aura of plaything that's why the facemask add-on on pig + plaything is great. Plaything + 3rd seal does the same thing
