Has SBMM ruined casual/fun matches for Killers?

As a killer main, I just can't justify playing this game I love so much anymore. SBMM has killed casual matches indefinitely. Even if you're somewhat good at the game, you get punished with sweaty match after sweaty match and it's simply not fun anymore. I didn't play the game for 4+ years to be competetive sweatlord. Thoughts?

Completely. I took a few months off and was surprised to see the new system. I didn't love the other one, but I was versing who I should be.

    No.

I am starting to feel like what people believed to be casual matches under the rank system were them being significantly more skilled/knowledgeable than their opponents; so much so that they could take their time and savor their 4k. You can still have casual matches - I have them all the time as killer - but it's much harder to get a casual 4k when going against players who are near your level of experience.

Thank you for the respectful response, I'm very open to other opinions and I think we can get to a place of mutual understanding.

I agree that this game shouldn't be as competitive as it is. I feel like that is because as gamers, we're often a competitive bunch.

I have a question that I think will better help me understand your POV. When you say "you're coming from a place where you're putting the importance on 4Ks", what do you mean? Do you mean that I think (that is to say, my personal opinion is) that 4Ks are important? Or that I think a casual match means that you can get a 4K?

I agree that at higher skill (from what I've seen from YT and Twitch videos) the game seems to be survivor sided - well SWF sided to be more precise. It probably shouldn't be. All things considered, both sides should have a fair shot at doing well - with skill (and TBH a dash of luck) being the deciding factor on which side ultimately succeeds in their objective.

My experience is different from yours, which has tinted my opinion. The level of sweat that I experienced before SBMM hasn't changed. When I first started playing killer, survivors ran the meta perks and enjoyed teabagging me at the exit gates with their 4 person escape. Since SBMM has started, survivors still run meta perks. What I have noticed is that the survivors I go against now aren't the best as maximizing these perks, and using the tiles to the best of their advantage - which is likely a reflection of my (hopefully improving) skills as a killer.

To be fair, I most likely have smaller sample size to deal with (I started playing around the time Trickster was released) so I'll take your word when it comes to your own personal experiences. I hope your games improve, and that more people move away from this idea that they have to sweat every match.

I feel like it has since with my sbmm being so high my games are either sweat or lose, and i love messing around in dbd especially as Killer, but this sbmm took that away from me

Which is more important to you? Messing around? or "winning"?

Messing around since i have done so much in the game to 100% completion that Bloodpoints are a small necessity to me at this point

I feel you. I am working towards getting that completion. The only thing that gets me to sweat is trying to do some rift challenge. Otherwise, I'm just running around chasing people and trying to get better at understanding how to use whatever killer I have a daily with. 😀

This is the first time I've been able to have matches that feel casual as killer. Ever since I joined the game, it felt like I was always overmatched by super sweaty players. Now I can actually try out killers I don't play that much and experiment with stuff. So, for me, it's greatly improved my ability to play casual matches.

I 4k way less, but I don't really care about that. I don't necessarily focus on winning so games just feel the same as they've ever been. But hey, that's just my experience. Not saying I like SBMM.
