Most Underrated Killer In The Game?

You know, the ones that not many people play - but can be surprisingly effective.

I'd say:

  • Doctor. Wow, do I love this guy. He has a sonar ping that can get survivors off gens, the ability to disable pallet drops and vaults (that works maybe half the time even on a 50ms latency, but that's another story) and some genuinely nutty addons. Insanely oppressive in indoor, 'stacked' maps. Also somehow a BP generating machine.
  • Hag. She's by far my favorite killer. Small, little terror radius, can absolutely lock down areas and has tons of little tricks and techs. If you can get a 3 or 4 gen, she can be unstoppable. Plus, she's a living jumpscare, which makes me happy.

Trapper imo is far from being the worst killer if you use good addons on him. His basekit sucks, but he has some insane addons going for him.

I agree on Hag. She's my favorite to play as too and if you use Corrupt, she's nearly unbeatable in the right hands. Always a blast to go against good Hags as well (which is an unpopular opinion)

I would say Clown. His chase is really good if you know what you're doing. The antidote can mainly be used to close long distances and counter W meta and help with certain tiles. Not to mention, his add-ons are not bad either. He can be a monster in the right hands.

Legion. Base kit slowdown (that can be further modified by addons) with effectively a one shot chase ability.

In my completely unbiased opinion, Hillbilly.

Also I wouldn't call Hag underated, many put her in the top 5 killers.

Clown needs pinky finger and 2 extra bottles to be decent. Even then, Clown doesn't intimidate me all that much.

Agreed. Legion forces Survivors off of gens, so paired with Ruin/Thanataphobia, they can slow gens down pretty efficiently... even more so with Thrilling Tremors.

Plague can completely destroy teams, or get destroyed herself. But she has a little bit of everything in her kit, she counters iron will plus she can sort of can counter people playing stealthy, and she also essentially can have survivors exposed at all time and has a ranged ability. And I think a lot of people already know hag is strong, it's just that a lot of people don't play her. But the same thing with plague she is rarely played, and she counters healing/med-kits, no killer has this much built in kit as her.

Hag is not underrated at all. She is considered a top 4 killer and even on competetive level effective.

  • glitchboi
    glitchboi Member Posts: 6,023

I mean, I do just fine with him without add-ons. He's probably at the top of the weaker end of killers, or barely average, but his chase is quite oppressive.

Yeah Hag is overrated. Some people rate her at A-Tier while she is probably B or C. But strong against solo survivors who forgets to have a trap destroyer many times.

It’s funny because I hate facing Clowns shroom bottles mainly because of forced medium vaults which is great for the Clown and when I play as him I actually love going full breaking bad fume mode and only using invigorating bottles.. I’ll even toss them at survivors for the lulz and 9 times out of 10 they don’t catch on and still avoid the speed gas lol

Mikey. For all the reasons Scott says there. I will never understand people who rate him worst. He's not even a contender for it.

I can agree that Doc is underrated. I was also a fan of his rework since day one but his detonation delay has to be perfect now and if there is rocky ping it can be even more of a struggle but with that being said if his shockwave was the way it used to be I think he’d be wayyy too oppressive. No matter what your timing was back in the day you always seemed to block vaults etc.

also a lot of people forget or never knew this but a survivor can’t use something like Dead Hard if they’ve been freshly range zapped.

I'd say Plague. She's very strong in the right hands, but no one plays her because her power can be kind of boring, and how buggy she is.

  • anarchy753
    anarchy753 Member Posts: 4,212

Hag isn't underrated, most people know she's strong but she takes a fair amount of effort to play every game. Plus the prevalence of clickies can make it annoying to find a lobby that won't suck.

I'd say Plague. I play her a lot but I almost never see her otherwise. She's very strong and oppressive and I love it, I'm truly surprised she's getting such a huge buff.

    edgarpoop Member Posts: 8,441

Plague. Very, very few killers use her effectively. She has elements of a set-up killer in regards to infecting the environment early. She has stretches where she's a basic M1. And she also requires ranged killer skills. You really have to be on top of your game management with her. Super rewarding though once you have her down.

Plague by a mile. Mobility is really the only thing her kit lacks.

I'd say it's either Plague or Demogorgon. They both have an amazing 1v4 which is slept on so hard.

None of them. The tier list is pretty well figured out. If you're asking who is supposed to be pretty weak or midtier but a dedicated player makes them kind of wonky to play against as you aren't used to it? Its usually Doctor.

This game doesn't allow for much creativity in terms of gameplay. Everything is very one dimensional. Outside of Nurse there isn't really anything "cool" you can do.

Legion tech is fun but borderline useless. Doctor shack shock tech is fun but borderline useless against good survivors. You cant fly with Billy anymore. There just isn't enough in the game to really express a lot of your skill.

Agree with others about it being Plague, she is a beast with a player that can use her.

Matches with a good Plague put me on the struggle bus.

    Nurse.

She's so strong when played right. I am surprised behavior put her at the bottom of their list

  • StarLost
    StarLost Member Posts: 8,077

Plague is definitely...consistent. I wouldn't call her strong.

If you are good, you will have good games as Plague. She isn't really able to carry you.

Demo is wonderful, but (like Nurse or Hag) does require your opponents to give you openings.

    Plague.

He has many problems, but not about his basekit but more of QoL. An injured randomly trapped in distance and escape in first try. Dead hard over trap. Disarming trap with zero risk. Set graphic to Low to disable shadow and easier to see traps.

Honestly if his powerful addon are cheaper and more frequently to use (Honing stone as Yellow/Green, injured when disarm at Green/Purple ect), I can actually live with the fact he carry 1 trap)

  • Impose
    Impose Member Posts: 400

Lol what? Hag and Nurse don't require openings. Both are designed to force openings with proper play.

  • danielmaster87
    danielmaster87 Member Posts: 9,677

Nurse. She's even at S tier still in many people's tier lists for god's sake. But others say, "Well, she has bugs so therefore not OP!" Even though her power literally lets her teleport through walls.

  • KerJuice
    KerJuice Member Posts: 1,919

I agree. Same as trapper. I’m not looking forward to their buffs. Especially Plague’s because she makes med-kits completely useless, and many players keep cleansing, then getting infected 1 min later when they have to unhook someone or accidentally run into her soon after.

  • Brokenbones
    Brokenbones Member Posts: 5,214

I don't think Hag is underrated anymore, I think most people know she's strong in the right hands by now. It's just not many people play her due to her playstyles being very different and arguably less engaging than others. It's subjective. I sometimes play hag as a change of pace from the regular chasing killers myself

In my opinion - Plague is the most underrated killer.

  • Brokenbones
    Brokenbones Member Posts: 5,214

    Not completely true

Pretty sure Otz used hag to secure kills against some of the bigger comp teams out there in scrims/in BOTB.

iirc he didn't win the match due to tournament rules, but he managed to get 3 kills out of it. Not bad.

definitely Myers, people have slept on him for years thinking he’s bottom tier, but aside from few addons that could get some tweaks, he’s a really balanced killer.

  • MrPenguin
    MrPenguin Member Posts: 2,426

    Same here.

Additionally for me Hillbilly, people are overexaggerating how big his changes hit him imo.

  • StarLost
    StarLost Member Posts: 8,077

Hag is very map dependent, and multiple flashlights negate her heavily. If you can figure out her 'zone' and avoid it, she has a very tough time. Just don't give her a 3 or 4 gen and be prepared to bumrush her if she starts camping.

Nurse is vulnerable to coordination, well timed 180s and is even more map dependent than Hag in her way (so, so many maps have weird geometry glitches that totally block her teleport, and high tier players are abusing this more and more). She is good at getting downs against tight packs of survivors, or a single survivor in the open. Splitting and rotating works wonders. Otz's '50 win streak' on Nurse is a good example - he had an easier time on Bubba and Doctor.

  • StarLost
    StarLost Member Posts: 8,077

Myers is like Doctor. He's low tier for sure, and heavily reliant on specific perks, but he can shine in the right circumstances.

Hillbilly isn't exactly weak - he's just super, super janky to play. Even moreso than Oni, pre-rework Bubba and Blight.

Myers on the Lower half sure, but not near the bottom.

As for Hillbilly, janky yes I agree, but I've seen people put him in like, D tier or call him trash now and I'm just like wat.

  • StarLost
    StarLost Member Posts: 8,077

I don't think there is any 'trash' tier killer, now that trapper has his buffs, but there are too many that rely on very specific perks and a lot of slugging/camping to handle coordinated SWF groups, even in the hands of the best killers in the world.

They may not need outright buffs, but they certainly need a rework.

Nemesis IMO. So many people are very conflicted on how strong he is, but a LOT of people put him in C tier or low B tier and i think thats straight up criminal. After maining him since release i've learned a LOT about him and i can firmly say he is thoroughly underrated. He has a lot going for him, and a lot more if you know how to min max every aspect of his kit. The most notable thing is knowing how to use zombies, and using perks that synergize with them. It still blows my mind how few people know that zombies will actively move towards gens that trigger perks like discordance and gearhead. You can get some absolutely nasty game delay simply by virtue of knowing how zombies function. I absolutely feel like he is not given enough credit in most circles because few people have taken the time to truly understand his kit. If i was one of those DBD tubers i'd probably post a tun of info vids on him to help people gain greater clarity on his wonderfully fun kit.

  • StarLost
    StarLost Member Posts: 8,077

    Nemesis feels a bit RNG.

If his zombies do work, and don't randomly stop moving, get stuck in scenery or the other ways zombies randomly fail - he can be a solid 'B' tier. PH level.

If they don't, he's sort of a weaker PH. He either needs a third zombie, or his tentacle needs to injure on the first hit.

  • GlamourousLeviathan
    GlamourousLeviathan Member Posts: 1,093

Yeah, Doctor is really underrated. The man has tracking + antiloop + slowdown. His kit is really complete. Definitely A tier killer IMO.

I wouldn't say that Hag is underrated since she people already recognize how strong she is. The one I would put as underrated is Plague. She is easily the best projectile and possibly snowballing killer in game, maybe only losing to Twins and Nurse on that aspect.
