Who's A Killer You Main, Who You Didn't Think You Would.
As title suggests, who is a killer you thought, "no way I'd ever main them, they're so [complaint]" but after giving them a fair shot was like "now hang on a sec... this is kinda fun tho."
For me it was Pig, when I first started playing the game I HATED Pig, I'd constantly complain "how does anybody have fun playing her!?" and from being against her seemed super shallow and unfun. Shamelessly, I ended up buying her because 50 hour me thought she was a top tier killer and wanted to be a meta slave. And holy- I had so much fun playing her, and love her to this day, despite no longer maining her.

Nemesis. Thought he was trash. Turns out I love playing him. Fun and sometimes even effective.
7 -
The Plague. When played right, its truly impossible to not get value out of her power.
Fun Fact: thanatophobia should always be used in her builds. It encourages survivors to cleanse, which means more corrupt purge for you.

I... never thought of that. You get value from the perk when it's not being used... Give me some of those IQ points plz

Deathslinger, I thought he was trash on release and thought he was trash for a very long time. Started playing him recently and have been having a blast.
Even now I don't think he's great but he's fun as hell. Apparently I was wrong about his strength given the massive nerf he's getting.
It's kind of sad, and poetic in a way in that it's when I actually have started to play him, he is going to become, absolutely trash lol.
Oni as well, I thought he was trash when he first came out, and just a crap hillbilly. My friends kept saying "he's good! He's good! You have to practice and just get better!"
Well, now I'm a huge Oni main and the first to defend him as now all my friends think he's not good and I think he's awesome. I actually think he's my most played killer.
Mad how things turn out sometimes isn't it?

Clown. I used to HATE playing Clown back when I first started the game because I was bad aiming and would miss almost every single bottle. Now that I've had a bit of practice, I actually like playing Clown and consider him one of my mains. I can occasionally get some really good bottle hits, too.

I don't main them, but originally i thought i'd never play nurse because she's way too different. Now that i've gotten the hang of her a bit more, i am really enjoying her.

Pro Tip: Even if it feels like a chore, you may want to play a game or two of her fairly often. mechanical skill with Nurse can disappear almost over night

I would say Blight since I first started out as a huntress main and was getting incredibly comfortable with her hatchets. I never thought blight was a bad killer but once I watched a streamer called AscensionWho play him I just learned so quickly how to use his power for hits. Also might I add back in the day that was one of the best versions of Blight in my opinion as he had incredibly consistent collisions and the oh so misunderstood j-flicks... (yes I did them as a fun alternative rather than bumping 1 more time to get a more guaranteed hit). Also still cant get the image of the short blight pov of him just crawling really fast on the ground while in rush.

Leatherface. I always thought that I would play ranged killers as I am horrible with melee in every game I have ever played. I also love pissing people off. I was a Widow one trick for a long time in Overwatch specifically to make my team hate me as much as the enemy did.
But with no team in Dead by Daylight, I had to come up with something different. And after reading a few dozen camp and tunnel threads, one beautiful man kept getting mentioned over and over again. It was time to learn the art of basement with a build capable of destroying all survivor fun.
And with his Pretty Lady skin, well, I have been just one tricking him outside of daily missions and the odd Nemesis game here and there. I love him so much.

Hag.
Oh man, did I hate playing her. I grabbed her when I was new, as I really wanted Ruin. Was maining...Bubba, I think? Maybe I'd moved onto Freddy by then (old Freddy, how I miss you).
Loathed her from the second I tried her. Did not understand traps.
Ended up pouring BP into her to get Ruin, then decided to give her a go again.
Gradually got into her 'groove' and now she is hands down my favorite killer. Not only can she be strong without slugging and camping (although certain maps make me sad), but feels like she has a near infinite skill cap.
Most importantly though, my goal is to be able to actually give survivors a fright, and nothing says that like Hag.

I keep trying to learn Blight, but wow does he feel janky. I just can't figure out when I should be rushing, where and how.

Demogorgon. I never watched Stranger Things before getting dbd so I didn't care about Demo and watching some gameplay of him, he seemed really boring. Ended up getting him so I can brag about having every killer and ever since that day I can't stop playing him

I never main killer that I didn't like before. However, I did get some respect for them after playing them for a while. They did not become my mains, but I started enjoying Blight and Deathslinger much more after I gave them a chance.

I don't necessarily main them, but for the past month I've had a particularl interest in Huntress. This came as a suprise to me because I'm a console player.

Legion. I really didn't think I would like playing them until I gave them a chance. Legion is one of my mains (next to my girl Pig). :)

Pyramid head. I thought he looked pretty dumb and his power didn't look that fun. Once I played him, I enjoyed him and overtime I grew to love his design. The delay on his sword pick up is a bit clunky which makes it a bit hard to enjoy nowadays.

Pyramid Head.
I am a Doctor "main" since forever but a while ago I decided to P3 Pyramid Head. When I started playing him I realized he plays A LOT like Doc just I don't need to use any addons on Pyramid Head to do well whereas on Doc you at least need the yellow range addon.
0 -
Nurse. I thought I would never learn her power and I actually spent almost 2 years without barely touching her before I finally dedicated some time and now she's becoming my most played killer.
0 -
Pig, i thought she was trash and it turns out i was actually right. But there's something of a basic killer with slowdown that makes me love it, even though it's a garbage tier killer. And being able to use tampered timer with the extra box is so fun sometimes, it's a shame that they are actually nerfing the only viable Pig build next patch and not buffing her kit.

Blight's one of those killers you can't really teach you have to figure it out on your own. Also he feels janky now because his collision was reverted to tricksters mid chapter but they excluded that part from the cenobite chapter release.

Trapper. Thought it would have been Freddy since he’s my favorite horror icon. I paid for him years ago and still don’t use him. Smh.
0 -
I wouldn't call myself a Trickster main, but since his buff I really enjoy playing him. I wasn't the biggest fan of his design and theme on release and I'm still kinda 'eh' on it but hopefully the upcoming tome about him will flesh his character out a bit more.
I wish his weaknesses were addressed a bit because his power is really fun to use.

What do people mean by "main" these days?
I always thought it was the killer you played most and still play them. I see people changing their mains every day now lol.
I don't get it tbh.
1 -
To me, a 'main' is a 'comfort killer'. The one you always go to when you've had a rough few games and need a good one.
I mostly go between Pig (love stealthy killers), Wraith (same reason) but mostly Hag. Going to start learning Pinhead soon, despite him feeling a touch weak - just pouring BP into him until I get BBQ.

I'm pretty much a Trickster main at this point. Not entirely, but he's one of my mains. I find him to be incredibly relaxing to play if I just want to turn my brain off and throw a bunch of blades at survivors.
So what does that have to do with this post exactly? Well... I thought Trickster would just be a killer I'd play every now and then, since he was a ranged killer that didn't really require precise aim (on PC at least). He'd be a killer that I would play when I wanted to relax and just throw knives at survivors, and that's pretty much what he was and I loved him. I didn't play him as often as my other mains but nowadays I'm playing him a lot more.
While his changes in 5.1.0 made him incredibly stressful to play, his additional changes in 5.1.1 made him less painful and he's a lot more enjoyable to play as. It also feels like he's able to handle shack WAY better than before 5.1.0.
And finally, the build I use on him. I tend to use no add-ons, but my current build on him is BBQ, Iron Maiden, Lethal Pursuer, and Bamboozle. BBQ is for bloodpoints and info, IM just feels like a must-have on him because of the amount of times you'll likely reload with him due to his lower amount of blades (I feel like Melodious Murder in its current state should be made base-kit). LP helps with his poor early game, and Bamboozle is really helpful to shutdown high wall loops with windows.

Huntress is my main rn. Which isn't a surprise because of how fun she is.
But I have been playing a lot of Deathslinger recently. It's very odd because I despite Deathslinger. But at the same time, it feels so good not using my brain and still get good results. I mean I just have to look at survivors to outplay them xd

Nemesis. I was one of those people that was of the opinion that he was a "worse pyramid head" when he launched. Nowadays im trying to become the #1 nemesis on the leaderboard. Funny how opinions change with time.

Huntress - because I play on console, I thought meh!
Then I played it for a daily and had a hell of a lot of fun with it. And the more I practiced with her, the better it worked.
Now I play it regularly, although it will never be my main killer.

The Twins
While I don't play them as much anymore, around May of this year I tried them out and I mained them for about 3 months.
I succeeded in several 4k's and had a lot of fun, even when I lost.

While I don’t main billy I never expected to even play him at all but he’s my second main
0 -
You and me both bro

Wraith. He never really appealed to me but I kept seeing Tru3 praise him (even before his buffs), so I just went "screw it" and tried him out. Wraith is now one of my top 3 favorite Killers.
0 -
Deathslinger for me. I was highly critical of him on PTB, but totally underestimated his quick-scope power. He became one of my favorite Killers, but probably won't play him anymore after this patch :(
0 -
For me it would be Blight. I hated him on his release. Everything was so awful about him. He didn't had a one-shot ability like Billy. I only played him because I wanted Undying but now he is my main.
0 -
Blight, thought hispower looked boring and basic, I got him for typing shirtless Felix fastest in the discord and he became my favourite killer.
0 -
No you were right. Deathslinger is mid tier at absolute best on a good map for him. Bottom 5 on a map bad for him. They're nerfing him because they don't play their own game.
1 -
I don'r main killers really, but I have been playing Billy a lot lately; he's a lot of fun

Michael Myers, then Nemesis, now Ghost Face as well.

only cuz he weares a trash bag doesnt make him trash take that back!

Well I used to start maining Doc way back then when Clown chapter was there.
After Legion came I mained them, I loved old Legion, not cuz I could moonwalk and kill ppl by letting them bleed out, I never played like that. I loved playing how they where supposed to be played, frenzy behind and keep stabbing them, it wasnt really strong but alot of fun. After they gutted Legion I switched to Spirit after she came, I love her concept and the design, after the 4th nerf of her I switched to Oni.
I am pretty happy with Oni, until they will nerf him.
But I also really enjoy Nemesis tbh, I would consider him my second main.

the doc, because people dont know how to verse him and well everyone hates him

Freddy.... If u ever said I will play Freddy i would probably laugh at you because that's a character I hate so much in this game and I wanted him deleted multiple times but... It's weird I actually enjoy playing with him his dream world seems different from any other killers gameplay his power is fun and he can compete with swf's I actually enjoy him I still hate going against him tho lol
0 -
So Pig, Fred, Huntress are my top 3 mains.
Trickster - I hated his game play on console. I said multiple times worst killer on console hands down. Welllll 20 games later and he is now a killer who is not only fun but I have got the hang of him and perform very well.
Plague - Always love everything about Plague but we just didn't click. Well after giving her the same treatment as Trickster she is also one that get's more game time now and she finally gets some attention now too so great timing for me to get into her.
Clown - What's not to love. He will see lots of game play from me until Pennywise enters DBD.
Honorable mentions - Nemesis, Cenobite, Twins. Just need a little more time before I commit hard on them.

Victor needs some skins!

Hag, her chase style is unlike any other Killer and focuses more on setup than the fun of a chase. Having played Trapper I thought I'd hate Hag, but eventually when I picked her up and learned how to play her (thanks to Michi, world's best Hag) she now my favorite and I regularly curbstomp all Survivors, minus some pretty good SWF a-holes.

Twins. I forgot why I decided to actually play them one day but I picked them up and haven’t set them down since.

demogorgon. he just didn't interest me very much. new leprose lichen single handedly sold me on the killer, though. He feels very flexible and accommodates my various moods.
I love finding survivors who are good at loops and being able to go "nah, portal time bro"
