The second iteration of 2v8 is now LIVE - find out more information here: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/480-2v8-developer-update

What is your favorite license?

So this isn't to talk about the chapters specifically. I want you to pick one of the licenses that have made it into DBD and just talk about that license. You don't necessarily have to talk about how it was executed in DBD and if you liked it.

For example lets say RE. You can go ahead and just talk about why you love the RE games. What is your favorite one? Favorite villain? Just go on and tell you love that specific license. Or you can talk about multiple. Just choose one of the ones that ended up making it into DBD.

Never played silent hill so I can't really say much so I'll go with my second favorite.

Resident Evil. RE 2 Remake. That was such a good game and still is. I really like how much of a threat Mr.X is. F's for the chad Marvin. I really wanted to like RE 3 Remake but it just wasn't right. It was a bit too fast and you didn't really see Nemesis as much as Mr.X. I kinda enjoyed the hospital defense thing but it also felt a bit off.

As someone who mained Quentin as Survivor and Freddy as Killer, it is pretty obvious which license is my favorite.

Halloween. I just find Myers design very appealing and love everything about him.

Stranger Things - I like the Demogorgon and its hissing.

Steve and Nancy are pretty great characters to play as too, with a good set of cosmetics.

Some of y'all may know by now but I love playing Altruism and that applies to many other games as well. I love being able to rely on others and having others relied on me in a team dynamic because I think it's more challenging (you may be able to rely on yourself, but that may not be true for randoms) and very satisfying pulling off epic team plays (feels more "big brain" when everyone can pull something off). Games that fall into this are games like Dead by Daylight, Payday 2, MOBAs... Left 4 Dead.

Left 4 Dead was one of, if not the, first team based game I played and is still an all time favorite. It has so much replay value it's insane, thanks in huge part to The Director, it's AI system that dictates when and where to place Zombies and Special Infected. Left 4 Dead is basically timeless and I love jumping in and playing a few matches with friends when possible.

As for how I feel it's content in the game, I'm happy it's here at all but still wish it could've been a full chapter, I think a killer that's just a bunch of zombies called "The Horde" would've been awesome and I think a map would've been really interesting.

However, Bill and Survivor costumes are more than enough for me as I didn't think Game Licenses were even possible at first (even though only Halloween came in the game at the time, L4D didn't seem like a license the developers would consider - in my opinion - for being small in popularity and I thought from earlier killers the game would be exclusively catered to Horror Movie fans). Bill not being on Console at first made me sad, but when he eventually came on I didn't switch because I was emotionally invested in Ace but I was very happy and eventually did switch when Ace's model got changed. Also, Bill has the second best set of perks in the game and is free, so that is lovely.

Honorable Mention: Stranger Things - great show, Steve is one of my favorite characters in fiction and him not getting his Harrington Jacket from Season 1 in the game hurts me. Unfortunately for it, not loved as much as L4D for me, but I still put down $50 to get costumes for it when the announcement of it leaving the store came out.

I am going to say that I have 2 favorite licenses, but I would like to join them because I am not a big fan of Laurie ...

Halloween is my favorite license until Friday the 13th arrives to give it competition.

Ash vs Evil Dead, I always liked Ash's character in movies and series, he liquidates killers, it's not fair, he deserved his Boombstick and his chainsaw to fight the entity, now he just runs away. That's why he's my Main Survivor, because I'm not afraid of killers and my abilities make me the chosen one, GROOVY.

Imagine your favorite license not being Fun World. /s

Anyway, I really like A Nightmare On Elm Street and Halloween, but I'd say my favorite in DbD is probably Resident Evil. And I feel like most people on here know by now that I prefer the modern games/characters.

I still remember playing 7 for the first time.

I started my play through at dusk, and stayed up late into the night because I was so immersed in the story. Every one of Jack's footsteps shook me to my core. Just knowing he was gaining on me and was soon going to catch me all the while laughing and mocking me in that Southern accent of his was the scariest moment in gaming I've ever experienced.

Ah, and then there was when I beat Madhouse mode.

I was in a voice-chat with my friend, as we agreed to start our runs together and see who would finish first. We both struggled a lot, and ended up staying up all night beating it. I still remember, as the sun rose above Louisiana, so did it rise outside my window,

    Such great memories...

It's such a pity Jack and Ethan will likely never come to DbD.

It is probably my favorite horror franchise. No movie in it really achieves the all time great status of most of the other licenses in the game, and even other horror classics that never made it yet. But as a series? I think it is the most consistent.

I love most of the original films, but their sequels are horrible. With Saw, I genuinely like them all. Even Spiral, if that counts.

7 was a great game. I personally like RE2 Remake more as it recreated something I adore fantastically while perfecting the mechanics of survival horror and is just the perfect modern survival horror game for me. RE7 was still great though. One of my favorites still. I liked it more than 8.

They achieved their vision with the first one... but I do agree that the rest go a bit to far (I tend to ignore all of the gore and put my focus on the trap itself)

Hellraiser. This was such an iconic movie for me as a kid and always sparked my imagination with the alien ideas of the Cenobites. He was my most wanted in DbD and is now my main. He's beautiful. I'm hoping for skins for the other two Cenobites, and then maybe one day from the new remake coming out.

Silent Hill. My preferred survival horror series. The lore, characterizations, psychological horror, mystique, designs, music, I love it all. Can't wait for James to finally join us.

Stranger things. Demo is amazing. I love his gameplay and sound design. His map wide screeching is so satisfying. I love the lore of the Upsidedown also. Perfect fit.

These are why I even play DbD. No where else can I play these iconic creatures, and over time I've come to love many of the original killers as well!

I only recently watched (some of) the Halloween movies, and it's definitely rocketed up to take number one spot of the licenses that have made it into DBD. I found Texas Chainsaw Massacre a movie that kinda fell apart after the first two thirds of pretty good setup, and I enjoyed Stranger Things quite a bit- but not as much as the first Halloween movie.

Balance aside, I think the license for Halloween was integrated pretty damn well. Haddonfield does feel like the place the movie is set in for the most part, Myers looks and feels amazing - even sounding good despite the man being silent save for giddy breathing as he kills someone in the movie - and while Laurie doesn't look like Jamie Lee Curtis she looks uncannily like the comics BHVR said they based her likeness on, so I consider that a success too.

I like all of the licenses. My favorite from when I was a kid was Freddy Kruger. When I first played DBD I couldn't get into it just a handful of characters were out. I learned from a friend much later on that Freddy had entered so I downloaded it and been here ever since. Myers, Ghostface, Bubba, Pig, Demo, and now Cenobite are just icing on the cake. PH/Nemesis never played the games. I only know of Nemesis from the movies which those I for some reason seen. There are 2 really big licenses I would like to see and it's Alien and Pennywise. Would be so excited to see them in here.

Never liked Jason but he should be here too.

I can't really say much on the Survivors cause they all play the same

Killers I'd say Michael cause he makes the game very scary he just watches you and sometimes can sneak up on you.

Pyramid Head cause hearing that chase music while playing as and against him is fun also just hearing him drag that blade when he's undetectable is quiet nerve racking.

Demogorgan cause it's an animal and the creature can be very intimidating with his shred.

Leatherface cause he really gets you going when he's getting closer and closer with the chainsaw and it's puts me on edge when vsing him.

Nemesis cause it's a giant zombie chasing you and his AI zombies can sometimes scare you without warning around a corner or something.

I grew up with Silent Hill, ever since I bought the first game after mistaking it for another game entirely, and have been hooked by the lore, world and games ever since.

When the Chapter was announced, I remember saying out loud "You bloody brilliant bastards! You actually did it!", and snatched up the dlc straight away on release!

Silent Hill 4: The Room is my absolute favourite, and recent re-evaluations have seen it in a much better light than when it was first released. Would've made a damn fine dlc too - especially with the Ghosts as AI (I devised a Chapter with Ghosts as part of the power, so was happy when RE eventually came out with zombies!).

And finally, the forums for Silent Hill ... my God, the forums! So much toxicity at times! And it was guaranteed that during any argument someone would start with "Any TRUE SILENT HILL FAN would know...".

The 2 remake was fantastic, as well. Was probably more "survival" horror than 7 was.

The 3 remake was pretty good, but definitely lacking compared to the 2 remake. I hate how much they cut from the original. They also made Nemesis look kinda stupid in my opinion.

8 was really good in my opinion. Probably not as good as 7 or the 2 remake, but still great. It's biggest flaw was that some of it's characters weren't fleshed out enough. I'm hoping they fix that with it's DLC coming out.

  • TheDarkTyrant
    TheDarkTyrant Member Posts: 2,074

8 had a case of being a bit overhyped. I played it all in 1 sitting. It was definitely good but yeah the last games were just better. I'm glad your not one of those who just says RE3R is bad. It was disappointing to see things go but as it stands its still good and fun. And I don't really like Nemesis' design either. Well actually I don't mind his face. I thought his face was cool but I hated ditching the trench coat. They wanted to ditch it because they wanted him to be more unique from Mr. X. Even though he would've still been pretty unique. I mean at least trash bags was not the way to go.

I played RE 4 since I was little. RE is something like a childhood game for me next to Call of Duty black ops zombies.

I am a huge zombie fan, love the concept of them beeing a slow but constant threat. I still enjoy watching or playing zombie themed games/movies to this day.

I do really like Silent Hill aswell, just like the Evil within I also really like that creepy weird horror atmoshpere with very strange looking monstrosities.

    QwQw Member Posts: 4,531

Yeah, Nemesis's outfit in the remake was not the way to go. I'm also not the biggest fan of his toothbrush-bristle teeth, but that's besides the point.

It sucks that he didn't stay in his "human" form for more than like a half an hour into the game.

I love the concept of a Stranger Things chapter. However, when they released the awful map and killer, I was so disappointed! The Demo looks super cool, but that's about it. And I wish there was a Hopper cosmetic. My absolute fav character and he's not even in the game. BS. And the map. Do I even have to say why it's so bad?

  • Xayrlen

    Stranger things.

I looove when you are facing something that is beyond "human-with-stick" cliche. At the release I actually felt quite threatened and terrified just by the sounds and look of that THING that was chasing me.

I really hope next killer will hit the same atmosphere, since Nemesis was a letdown. Instead of a Pyramidhead wannabe and 2 zombies (which is laughable when we are talking about zombie apocalypse genre), we could've gotten Hunter, Licker, Ustanak, give Nemesis his iconic launcher, or at least more than 2 zombies, for Christ sake!

So yeah, I wish Behavior would stir up their game.

  • TheDarkTyrant
    TheDarkTyrant Member Posts: 2,074

I still think Mr. X got treated way better. It's basically like they were reversed. Mr. X got upgraded while Nemesis was downgraded or kept the same in a way.
